GJ...Yes, that saying is becoming very popular"Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away." and with good reason... complete Truth! Thanks for the post and reminding us to appreciate what is around us!...Avias
John...Reaction here on last pic was "ooooohhhha"...love the yellows! I also would like to grow a climber but have too much shade around here. My daughter planted a yellow Knockout pruned into tree, topiary, form.....wow, it is a true delight and has the good smell that I miss in the others! I am a "smell the roses" type so wouldn't plant one that didn't have a good "nose". I may get one like that but first need to find good sunny spot.
Yes, tragedy upon tragedy....also reading that the climbers of Everest will be looking at using route from China for future...now Nepal guides/villagers may lose most of their previous income generated by climbers as this situation settles. This country needs help in any form and prayers as well....
HeyTMF...You are right on with your plan... roses get blackspot, fungus, etc and end up looking pathetic if their leaves get watered! Much as I love to see a gorgeous rose plant, seems like they are prone to pulling the "pretty as a picture today, let's see how sick I can look in a week" thing! But along has come the "KnockOut" roses and with them, hope for all of us who don't want to give up on growing some beautiful rose plants! From what I see, "KnockOuts" are a sure thing for blooming, resistance to disease and almost all the problems that accompany roses. Only downside to them....they don't seem to have that wonderful rose fragrance...well, guess we don't get the whole package, just enough to keep them easy growers! I have only one rose plant in my yard but if I do add more, it will probably be a yellow "KnockOut"...love yellow roses! Have fun arranging that rose garden and good luck with result!
Wonderfullife...Just curious about electricity provided to you...you are in Mumbai, big city, and I would think that area should have good provision for electric rates...something like alternative energy...hydroelectric,wind turbines...what is the source of your electric power?
Wonderfullife...Humidity is the thing that we all hate in the hot weather! Here in Midwest we too have the days of heat & humidity which join together to make us drip and stick to wherever we are sitting...UNLESS. we are in that blessed AC...oh how wonderful it is!!!!! But not all can have it here either so we seek the shade outside and inside we use electric fans that will move the air and help to dry us off. Also, creating some ice cubes to use in our water or tea seems to help and if you can place ice on the pulse spots (wrist, side of neck) it does help cool you down...maybe it is the icy trickle as the ice melts :) Someway we get thru those months of heat/humidity don't we? So when given a choice between summer and winter...guess what...I still take summer! Midwest winters....that is another story!!!!!....Avias
Socrates..We can not know whether a relationship will develop into true love...no guarantees, prior testing can tell us. All we can do is start the journey using whatever knowledge we have gained about life...just take a good look at the other person in the relationship sometime when your mind is cleared of the initial infatuation..if this is who you want to continue with thru your life, then you are committing yourself to that relationship and giving it the time to grow into a deeper thing. I truly feel that "real love" comes with time spent together and acceptance of the other, inspite of their faults.
Socrates..Some good comments here with life experiences being shared. Love is what...a feeling,a decision to share your life with someone, a set of emotions that bonds you with another? Maybe all of those things but I agree with LucyM...it is a commitment that is made, hopefully by both people in the relationship. It takes the desire to be successful and the realization that it requires effort to do what is necessary for it to continue and work. It requires bonding and caring for each other and if all goes well, this will become stronger as years pass. So if things do not work for whatever reason, the feeling of being "in love" is a rich experience, something that we are given the opportunity to find and share with someone. Yes, I think it is "better to have loved and lost, than never to have loved at all."
Nirvana..Somehow missed this post but commenting now... Yes, this is a tragedy but thanks to people like yourself who show concern and caring...it is one step toward victory for humanity ...I join you in prayers for those who are injured, families who lost loved ones and in hoping this country will find help with rebuilding. It is good to see posts such as yours!...:) ...Avias
Yes Lindsey....With the Red Cross past record of service in time of war and disaster, I would feel confident with donating to them. As for the dispersion of help...we don't know all the facts about why the time takes so long for help to reach the ones who need it. I hope the reasons will be sorted out and remedied so that those who need the help will get it quicker.
And for those who believe in the power of prayer...it costs nothing but a few minutes of time from your life to remember the people of Nepal in prayer.
Phoenix..Such a good idea for finding something that you could share with your Dad. You are a blessing to him. ...may your life always hold love and patience and may it return to you also....Avias::
Lind...This is really a good one!!!!! Yeah, we truly survived inspite of all he lists and that is a bunch of things that we never knew were bad for us....ignorance is bliss! Thanks for this post...makes you think not only of how we survived but of how much fun we had doing it! :
All possible positive thoughts are with those in the area of this quake! Hoping that the help will be fast in coming for those who are still trapped in buildings and that emergency services are available as quickly as conditions allow!
Hey Bhai LT...You added some great graphics here...thanks!...Hope Earth Day will always be of importance in India and everywhere in this world! Didi H.:
AND.. ."Time has come Today" to say..more of the world could use the "time" for thinking this way...if it was a way of life...who knows what this place/world could be like! Keep that mindset and hope it is contagious! Have a great Earth Day too!
Rob.......Wow. qt of oil every 20 miles for your car?? I'm glad that's not true!! If it was..lol, would be better to buy a barrel/oil , attach a hose and have direct line running straight into the engine! Can picture that sight going down the freeway, Thanks for the comment...good to have you here my friend!
Hi Coolie..Don't give in to that negative...look at what you can see in your kids, their goodness and beauty of having them with you in your life...this is a powerful and positive thing...just having a family gives a reason to be here and to work for a better place for them! Each day you have the opportunity to teach them ways to make this a better world...they will see what you do and what you teach...they in turn will pass this on to all they meet and when they marry, their kids will learn from them what you taught. It is possible to make a difference...just be determined and look for the good in others, it is there...watch for it and help it to grow.
