Weatherwise, it has been a milder winter here in the Midwest but the East is sure getting pounded! I too feel for them but who knows, soon it may be our turn to endure! Good to know that someone is thinking of those who are having it so rough!
A story with heart. .sorry that your efforts didn't bring any relief for the poor dog but who knows, maybe just that fact that the woman now knows she isn't going to be able to use those kind of tactics out in public will improve future life for the dog..if only for those moments when she is out with it. You did the right thing..and getting a dashcam will be interesting for future.
Different areas of the country have different eating habits as far as the kind of foods they prefer. Here fried foods are very popular with items such as fried hush puppies being a regular item on the menus. It is a cultural thing with most people accepting it and very fond of fried fish, fried chicken, fried pies and the hush puppies...as for me, I am a transplant to the area and actually am not raised where these things are so commonly offered. But the way to obesity/fat consumption seems to be partly a matter of cultural upbringing.
The situation in Flint, Michigan is beyond understanding in many ways. At the first signs of unsuitable water, a remedy should have been addressed! The population of Flint has been deprived of something that most of us assume will be provided by our community... it should be guaranteed now and as citizens, they were paying for this guarantee each time they paid their water bills! It is a real tragedy to see how far this has gone without real action and remedies. Those who are impacted by the unsafe quality of their water will be living with this and its effects for years!
Ian..Touching blog ...a wonderful tribute to your Mum, she was and still is a part of your life... her memory remains with you! So yes, we should cherish the ones we love and show our feelings for them...our time with them is precious!
Mr Nam..You have my respect, always have. You're doin what u have to do for survival. Stay true to yourself . . don't change into someone molded by others! Safe trip out there in that crazy bunch of so called drivers!
The blog,(and comments from Snopes) with author unknown, still applies to the changing situations in this country and so as it is an opinion, can be viewed as such....many will agree with it, no matter who the author may be. It is interesting in itself... for sharing.
And there are many who do not want this changed because they benefit from these false beliefs! So if you decide to spread your wings and try to fly...no doubt someone will be there to discourage you or shoot you down!
Phyllis...Maybe it takes living here to see what this writer means. It is plain that the foundations of this country was created by men who could be typified as "white Christian males"....George Washington, Andrew Jackson and the great frontiersmen such as Daniel Boone, Davy Crockett. I see this writer making the point that much has happened to change the principles that these men laid down for this country and now with terrorism becoming an everpresent danger, we will never be as free to continue with the ideas and principles that we once had. Our country must adapt and change.... leaving behind some of those freedoms that we once enjoyed. Those freedoms must give way to new and more narrow ways of living...certain freedoms never to be revived unless some of our dedicated men and women risk their lives, acting with the determination of restoring our past way of life. I see the point to this article...The country that we knew, the American Way of Life, the Dream....is disappearing.
Anybody ever hear the saying "Misery loves company"? Personally I would just as soon be alone if I were miserable than know someone else is there and miserable too! But to each their own way...form of misery included! Hmmm...
GJ....Great and SOOO funny! Think I have seen this before...at least we don't have to worry about you with the little white pills! And in reality, we have had absolutely NO SNOW so far this winter...kind of crazy...but I'm not complaining! El Nino!
