What is the spirit of security but a deep belief in yourself? What is insecurity but a lack of faith in one's own ability?
How do you give people a sense of security? By giving them a chance to build faith in themselves! Self-reliance and self-confidence are real security. When Communism collects people together and spares them from the possibility of poverty, is it really offering security? It is perhaps eliminating the fear of poverty and starvation, but the absence of fear is no proof of courage.
Play-it-safe people may not be afraid. But this does not mean that they are brave. What would happen if they had to face danger? Suddenly they would discover that they lacked real courage. Communism offers a counterfeit security, for real security is self-confidence.
The priceless gift of self-confidence can only be acquired when you suceed after being exposed to possible failure. Exposure to risk is the only route to real self- confidence. Self-confidence cannot be inherited. It must be earned by each individual, each generation, each new regime. And the only way to earn it is by taking a noble risk, and honorable chance, a glorified gamble. Self-confidence cannot be taught; it must be caught! And risk-running, chance-taking, is the only way to catch it. Mountain-moving faith succeeds in building self-confidence through chance-taking. Without self-confidence, faith will never muster and demonstrate mountain-moving power.
Being good to our "neighbors" if we do will we get "brownie points"? NO, we don't................. it is expected that we do it...........as simple as that! I am a firm believer in not letting my left hand know what my right hand is doing..........
When I bought my Mustang I heard a sound that was like something was dry. Taking it to mechanics none of them knew what it was. They just about wanted me to buy a whole new front end, the car was one year old.........hello........ One day I saw a woman sitting on the side of a busy road with 3 children............ Of course, I stopped and drove them home.............. The husband turned out to be a mechanic he told me that the problem was that this Mustang needed an extra cerk above the front tires for oil......... Problem solved........... Went back to the mechanics and told them what the real problem was. One had the gall to tell me that he knew what the problem was as his own sister had the same car I could write another book about mechanics Was I a Christian at the time doing a good turn? NO I was not.................NEXT.........
Grand you do know I love you as a brother. The good news is that we are in the company of billions of brothers and sisters. Those who try to tear on our beliefs will never succeed........we have heard all their accusations before. So many questions, like when we get to the other side will there be lots of babies? Will we be the same age as we are now? Outch...................just kidding........... Well the Lord has promised that someday we will know ALL.........
Read my reply again Marmelade, I don't believe that God answers a prayer to win as Wesley also tells he lost too. So his God was wishy washey? No way! He was at first not a strong Christian but he tells how he watched the family he lived with. How they helped others all the time. .................
Marmelade, I don't see it that way. We may find a similar story about a tennis player or a musician praying to win. At all times Wesley places the Lord as number one in his life........ Wesley is telling that he often does not win so God is not playing favoritism here. I do not believe that the Lord answers his prayer at all. Just checked who are the world champions and Wesley's name is not among them.......... He became the champion in the US so it looks like this was it for him.......... I liked this story because a poor guy made good.................
Instead of worrying about the future, I try to focus on the work God has put before me. Right now it’s chess, so I study it diligently and play it as well as possible. Will I rise to become the world champion one day? Only God knows for sure. In the meantime, I know that he is a generous and loving father, always showering me with more blessings than I could possibly deserve. I content myself with playing one match at a time and practicing gratitude for my daily bread.

My New Family I have played chess since age six or seven. At first, it was just a fun game I could win. As I grew up, I kept on winning. But the Philippines offers little support for chess players. (On the whole, the people prefer basketball.) There are many excellent chess players in the Philippines, but chess is regarded as a poor man’s game. Powerful, wealthy people who could help chess players advance in society just ignore them.
Despite these disadvantages, I kept on playing, representing my country in regional tournaments and trying to make some money here and there. But to become an elite chess player, you need to invest in your development, and I could never afford to hire a coach or secure serious training. I used to study from newspaper clippings because my family could not afford real books.
At around age 16, I sank into depression. Even though I recognized my special talent for playing chess, there seemed to be no point in developing it. Whether I worked hard or not, no one would care. It felt like there was no realistic hope of pursuing a career as a chess professional. Out of frustration, I stopped studying, and my player rating began to slide.
One day, I got the sudden urge to leave. I was 18 years old, and I had lived on my own for two years. At that point, I had received an offer to play on the chess team of a small American university, and I decided I should take the offer and, at the very least, get a degree to prepare me for the future.
Then I met the people who would became my foster family. They were Christians, and in 2013, we got together for a small private dinner. After that, I began flying to Minnesota every few weeks for additional visits. Lotis, my foster mother, could sense my unhappiness. After a while, she asked me what I wanted to do in life, and I replied that I loved playing chess but didn’t think I was talented enough to translate that into a full-time career.
You do already know the answers so why ask? Men are sinful and need redemption, a child knows already how to lie and steal. Jesus died for those sins instead of you having to atone for them. We are born and then we all die. It is up to you to accept this pardon or not ..............no one will force you...........

Telling you about unforgiveness in detail is because it is this that can make your Christian life miserable and unrewarding. Hate, anger, and bitterness, can eat you up inside.
I was in a church in California when a visiting pastor asked the people who had knowingly or not, had unforgiveness in their hearts to come forward. I came forward as something had happened that was serious and I had not yet forgiven this person. Then this pastor told us to ask the Lord to help us to go back into the past. Oh my, what was now shown to me, so many things came to light that was surprising to me and needed forgiveness, bullies, a teacher, and my own family..... etc.............. TODAY, WHEN I AWOKE,
I suddenly realized that this is the best day of my life, ever! There were times when I wondered if I would make it to today, but I did! And because I did I'm going to celebrate!
Today, I'm going to celebrate what an unbelievable life I have had so far: the accomplishments, the many blessings, and, yes, even the hardships because they have served to make me stronger.
I will go through this day with my head held high, and a happy heart.
I will marvel at God's seemingly simple gifts: the morning dew, the sun, the clouds, the trees, the flowers, the birds. Today, none of these miraculous creations will escape my notice.
Today, I will share my excitement for life with other people. I'll make someone smile.
I'll go out of my way to perform an unexpected act of kindness for someone I don't even know.
Today, I'll give a sincere compliment to someone who seems down. I'll tell a child how special he is, and I'll tell someone I love just how deeply I care for her/him and how much she/he means to me.
Today is the day I quit worrying about what I don't have and start being grateful for all the wonderful things God has already given me. I'll remember that to worry is just a waste of time because my faith in the Divine Plan ensures everything will be just fine.
And tonight, before I go to bed, I'll go outside and raise my eyes to the heavens.
I will stand in awe at the beauty of the stars and the moon, and I will give thanks for these magnificent treasures.
As the day ends and I lay my head down on my pillow, I will thank the Almighty for the best day of my life.
And I will sleep the sleep of a contented child, excited with expectation because I know tomorrow is going to be the best day of my life, ever!
Pure love On March 25, 2010, Kate Ogg gave birth to premature twins. The fraternal twins were just 27 weeks old. Emily managed to survive the birth, but her brother Jamie was not breathing. Doctors tried to resuscitate Jamie for 20 minutes but were unsuccessful. Jamie was placed on his mother’s chest so that Kate and her husband David could say goodbye to their son. Five minutes into the agonizing process of biding a final farewell to their child, the parents saw their son start moving. The doctor claimed that such movements were merely reflex actions, not signs of life, but Kate and David asked for a few more minutes with their dying son. A few minutes turned into two hours, and Jamie opened his eyes.
The doctor took some convincing to believe that there was actually a tiny Lazarus in the room and not just a pair of grieving parents desperate to deny the painful reality. When the doctor put a stethoscope on Jamie’s chest, however, he realized that Jamie had somehow fought his way back to life. The boy made a full recovery and has not had a single medical problem since.
Voice of an Angel In March 2015, 25 year old Lynn Jennifer Groesbeck ran off the road into the Spanish Fork River in Utah. Groesbeck’s 18 month old daughter, Lily, was in the backseat. More than 12 hours after the original accident, first responders heard a voice calling for help from the inside of the car. The voice did not sound like a child and could not have belonged to Groesbeck as she was already dead at the time and likely had been since the impact. Still, the first responders investigated. What they found was Lily suspended upside down inches above the freezing water. She was still alive. The water was so cold that rescuers had to work in shifts as each person could only stay in the river for short periods of time. Eventually, however, a firefighter managed to cut the infant free. Lily was passed through a human relay back to shore where she was given treatment. No one can explain what happened, but Lily has since made a full recovery and is living with her family.
Most people think of miracles as incredible events that took place long ago. They assume that miracles no longer happen today. This, however, is incorrect. Miracles continue to happen today. Part of the reason modern miracles are overlooked, however, has to do with what most people think of when they hear the word “miracle.” For most people, a miracle is something big and flashy. It is flowing lava that mysteriously parts around a home and then converges on the other side of the house. It is a lightning strike that hits a would-be murderer and saves a parent and child. Such events are undoubtedly miraculous, but they are not the only sorts of miracles that occur today. Some miracles are small and quiet. There are also a number of miracles that made use of human intervention. These are the sort of miracles like when a sinking boat does not suddenly empty of water but another boat appears out of nowhere to rescue the passengers. Such events tend to make up the bulk of modern miracles but the human element of them often leaves third party observers unaware that they have just witnessed a miracle. Gospel music has always been close to Lynn’s heart, reaching back to her youth in eastern Kentucky. “My daddy’s first cousin was a preacher, Elzie Banks, who I wrote a song about. All of us kids would sing in Sunday school as long as we could carry a tune. Gospel music and church are what I knew. We knew Sunday school, and the preacher, Elzie Banks. We had church in a little one-room schoolhouse that my great-grandfather built.” (The song she wrote about Banks, “Elzie Banks,” appeared on her 1988 album Who Was That Stranger?)
Lynn has made three gospel albums during her career, including Hymns in 1965 and Who Says God Is Dead! in 1968. Both albums allowed Lynn to include her son, Ernest Ray — with “When I Hear My Children Pray” on the first and “Mama, Why” on the latter.
“I wrote ‘Mama, Why’ after my daddy had passed away. I lost him when I was 27. He was only 51,” Lynn says.
Fans of the Coal Miner’s Daughter will be glad to know that she has quite a bit of unreleased music in the can. “I’ve got about 90 songs cut right now,” she said, confessing that she still gets excited about creating music. “I still love it. It’s a way to find out if you can still sing or not.” ................

When Biden set the date for planes being allowed out of Afghanistan, many of those having worked with Americans and Canadians were left behind. Today they are hiding and living in fear of being discovered by the Taliban, The send a letter to Canada, pleading not to be left behind. Canada should give them a Visa so they could at least try to make it into Pakistan, Canada is not even doing that. Canada is allowing many from the Ukraine's into the country and that is fine but please don't forget those in Afghanistan who have helped Canadians and Americans they really need our prayers!
Johny perhaps because I was not raised in a church, perhaps because I had to find it all on my own, when I asked Jesus to be my Lord and Savior, I found it a bit amazing that I now was a believer. So being a "baby Christian" One evening I sat with my back against a wall and said; "Lord I am not leaving here until You show me that I am now your child" Several hours went by and then I saw a large lake and many people sitting there all dressed in white. And then? I saw myself among all the others..........God had given me my answer.

You are right Johny God is alive He is a spirit, not as so many see Him sitting in a chair with a book on His lap watching what you are doing and writing it down in His book. The Bible is true. I often have prayers answered not always in the time that I want them but the answer always comes. All that we have done is recorded in our own brain like the hard drive in a computer. If a person wants to believe but has trouble doing so, tell God this and ask Him to help you with your unbelieve........
