This process of changing us to be more like Jesus is called sanctification.
You can’t reproduce the character of Jesus on your own or by your own strength. New Year’s resolutions, willpower, and best intentions are not enough. Only the Holy Spirit has the power to make the changes God wants to make in our lives. Philippians 2:13 says, God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.
When we hear the phrase, “the power of the Holy Spirit,” many people think of miracles and intense emotions. But most of the time, the Holy Spirit’s power is released in our lives in quiet, unassuming ways that you aren’t even aware of or feel. The Holy Spirit often nudges us with “a gentle whisper.”
The likeness of Christ is not produced by imitation but by inhabitation. We allow Christ to live through us. “This is the secret: Christ lives in you.” (Colossians 1:27)
This happens in real life through the choices we make. We choose to do the right thing in situations and then trust God’s Spirit to give us his power, love, faith and wisdom to do it. Since God’s Spirit lives inside of us, these things are always available for the asking.
You are right Lindsy at times a hymn says it all, gentle words, true words, praising the Lord, that is why I love to place them here. Septimus Winner was born in 1827 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He taught himself music and ran a music store and also taught people how to play various instruments.
He wrote several songs in his day which became popular. Some of his popular songs included, "Listen to the Mockingbird" (1855), "Where, Oh, Where Has My Little Dog Gone?" (1864) and "Ten Little Indians."
During the American Civil War, Septimus composed a song entitled, "Give Us Back Our Old Commander: Little Mac, The Peoples Pride". He aimed it as an appeal to President Abraham Lincoln to return Union General George McClellan to service. Unfortunately, it was deemed anti-Union and in 182 Winner was jailed on a charge of treason. He was freed after he agreed to destroy all remaining copies of the song.
It is, however, this song that he never intended to be a religious song that we still remember him for. It has been included in many evangelical Christian hymnals.

At times we look back to a time that was so embarrassing at a time when we are so vulnerable like for me at age 12............even now at times, I remember this. I was chosen to recite a poem, a very sad poem in front of three other classes, oh boy what horror. Already in class rehearsing in front of only my classmates, I stumbled over the last two sentences.
"A little boy is watching his brothers playing outside, he longs so much to join them but he can't. He has been sick for so very long now.............. But someday when he gets well he will also play outside and have fun just like them........... His mother is sitting by his bed feeling so sad for her little child as she feels his pain, sees the longing as he is watching his many brothers having so much fun. She takes the hand of this child in hers and tells him that his daddy who is at sea, will soon be home. (She does not tell him that a heavy storm has broken out making it very likely that his daddy does not have much of a chance in his small boat) So the mother is comforting her little boy telling him that soon he will get well and join his brothers outside.
Now come my last two sentences, oh no not again, not now.............. My teacher is yelling, mother mother, no result, .......my classmates yell, mother, mother. I don't hear them, am frozen............ My teacher is coming over to me now, she has no choice but helps me with those two last sentences.
"Mother, mother don't be sad, please don't cry.......... For your little boy will soon be with his daddy."

Had to read that again Mercedes you are getting up at 4 am, 5 days a week, all year long. When I was very young about 15-20 years old, I would get up at 5 am to ride my bike for 1/2 hour then swim before school. Only from May 15- September 15. During those other days, I would turn around a few times in my bed before getting up lol After I was 20 years old, moved to Canada.........................

Shawn years ago I worked in the meat dept we often had coffee with the cashiers and loved to hear their stories. One of the choices at the time was a paper bag or a plastic one, The customer was watching her groceries being put in a paper bag and after her $60 dollar order was packed would say; I really wanted it in a plastic bag. The cashier would very slowly change it all into what the lady now wanted hoping that the many customers waiting would let the woman have it. After I said I was writing a book about how we can be sure we are going to heaven, she marveled, “You mean you can know that you are going to heaven?”

Pillar 1: God Cannot Lie! First, assurance is based on the absolute trustworthiness of Scripture. Throughout the New Testament, we read God’s promises to save all who will believe upon His Son. The Bible says, “Whoever will call upon the name of the Lord will be saved.”(1) This is a promise! All who have committed their lives to Jesus Christ may have the firm confidence of salvation based upon the infallibility of God’s Word.
Jesus said, “The one who comes to Me I will certainly not cast out.”(2) If you come to Jesus with genuine repentance and faith, He promises that He will save you. We can know Jesus has received us because, quite simply, He said so! When the Bible speaks, God speaks. And what God said, He will surely do. He will save all who call upon Jesus Christ. You have His word on it.
