RE: New COVID-19 cases on the rise...

Spain has had the opposite experience on numbers, when we were all locked in away from fresh air sunshine and exercise our cases multiplied through the roof. With the easing of restrictions they are dropping and dropping.

cheering

So in theory the US easing restrictions shouldn't have caused numbers to keep going up. I think it comes down to being sensible - you keep yourself out of trouble, and you hope the muppets who are determined to be morons will not cross your path, and this Thing will run its course. Eventually.

Maybe it really does target the stupid. Unfortunately every country has an inexhaustible supply of those. sigh

Honest profiles, and meeting the right person online

OldeGuy - scary stuff, eh? uh oh

Zman - important to check someone's politics upfront ? rolling on the floor laughing

Chat - scary lady, she was sentenced to 2000 years imprisonment and many are extremely miffed she served a mere year per murder laugh

Honest profiles, and meeting the right person online

I'm about to go comment on Wrinkly's blog, where he created a female profile to see how the other half lives laugh

I've talked to some very dodgy people in my time online but so far, as best I know, not a serial killer - but how would you know? We all ask for honesty - online honesty may be the truth, and nothing but the truth, but not all the truth uh oh

Hey June ... a lockdown parody. A moment of lightening up.

Cheers to those who enjoyed yay

Luke, I do read the blogs now and again and whenever I see one I want to comment on, I log in. I probably miss a lot of the good ones. I certainly can never think of any good ones to write laugh

RE: Advertising -Over-handed & desperate.

I use an ad blocker dunno

RE: I don't talk politics...

No, you don't. handshake

I've been customer-facing most of my working life, with a huge variety of customers, and fortunately most of the time we concentrated on the business in hand. In business as in life as on CS I am bored and repelled by those so obsessed by politics or religion that they insist on dragging their fanaticism into a business or social environment uh oh

RE: Love, poverty and war

Wow. There's no interim levels? I have great women friends but I also hugely value my men friends. When it comes down to spending casual time with another person, I tend to prefer men to women.

No way of knowing when you meet someone whether they will be a casual friend, a good friend, a great friend, or a friend you'd donate a kidney to. From my perspective - there is room for all types in every life.

Oh, comparing perspectives - I would try not to bore someone to tears with my lovelife but would expect them to have an interest in my life, as I in theirs. I would never ask for money (but yes it is the true friend who would help out) and war would likely interrupt our friendship but unless we were suddenly ideologically out of sync, wouldn't end it.

thumbs up

RE: My selection of news

I think you'll need to start the ball rolling.

popcorn

RE: Knee Man's Mugshot...

Jac - we live in different worlds wow
To me sanity precludes not killing people coolly, deliberately, with a little smile, on video, in front of witnesses.

dunno

But sure, your way there is no lesson to be learned because it was just one sane guy deciding to kill another and absolutely nothing to do with strongarm tactics taken far FAR too far.

Okay.

Soon - I guess the only way to know if anyone healthy would have been at any risk is for you to get someone to kneel on your neck for 9 minutes, cutting off your airflow. That should give us some answers?

This has become surreal.

RE: "TIME TO ACT DECIVELY"

In one country a small crowd protesting the quarantine regulations wouldn't disperse - in fact when the police drew their guns the protesters huddled together in sudden panic. The police shot and killed two of them.

This was to save them from dying of the virus. confused

Those whom the gods wish to destroy they first send mad.

Ghosted or benched?

I think my brain has turned into a pumpkin and I should go to bed wave

Ghosted or benched?

haha sorry I started an explanation, then got the Wiki quote and forgot to remove my explanation doh

Ghosted or benched?

Apparently comes from a film Gaslight - Wiki says Gaslight is a 1944 American psychological thriller film, adapted from Patrick Hamilton's play Gas Light (1938), about a woman whose husband slowly manipulates her into believing that she is going insane.where the husband was slowly driving the wife mad.

Sounds like a must-watch ... not. Although Ingrid Bergman ...

Ghosted or benched?

Molly, yay, I wasn't sure if I was seriously out of date yay

The best of the words is gaslighting. I mean not what it is, which is horrible, but the name for it.

What it IS, if I understand it right, is constantly keeping someone off balance and unsure of themselves and telling them they remember things wrong, get things wrong, etc. Charming.

Ghosted or benched?

Merc you could never date my ex-husband. I mean you wouldn't want to anyway, I know that, giggle but he was an um um um man.

In fact for the first year we dated he used to introduce me to friends as "this is um". He said it was because we'd met through work and I had a 'work' name and a 'social' name and he didn't know which to use. Whatever.

We'd never have got involved if not from meeting through work, he was a computer geek of note with a brain the size of Marvin the Android and about the same level of social skills laugh

Ghosted or benched?

Molly, oh to be sure casual chat is entirely different. If there was liking in the first place I'd probably accept being benched and invited back into play, but would go forward with a completely different set of expectations . laugh

Ghosted or benched?

Reboot, you have to tell us the end of the story laugh

Ghosted or benched?

Amicable - ghosted is just the term given to someone who is constantly at you, then suddenly not dunno I think it's quite descriptive, hence the blog, talking about a few of the words that have cropped up simply because of singles websites.

I have to answer my phone when it rings, because it is usually business, so as a result I hardly ever give out my phone number uh oh talk on CS >>> switch to email if there is trust >>> chat on google hangouts video call option >>> meet >>> phone number and I can count on the fingers of one hand the conversations that have even got as far as google hangouts.

I like your style on the blocking someone who takes their time phoning back though. If there's a really REALLY good excuse they can email it grin

Ghosted or benched?

Fargo, I think it's more several messages a day, growing interaction, then sudden silence?

Your MTBM could come into play when they get back in touch (if ever) and you set that limit to suit your tolerance level laugh

Ghosted or benched?

BN - ooh ooh can I now ignore you? snooty

grin

RE: Somber

I sometimes think women have it easier, we can cry out loud comfort

Ghosted or benched?

Yeah you keep safe too, we're still very quiet here - almost eerily so. Most businesses qualified as essential (sometimes on slightly dubious grounds) so the place ticked very quietly on but everyone is still subdued.

I had to go to the bank the other day and as there were already 2 people inside, had to wait outside, such lovely weather we're having I was cooked to a turn by the time I finally got inside 20 minutes later! laugh

A story for you to finish (well out of comfort zone, call it a lockdown distraction)

Reboot, but I've heard snow falling uh oh it's the oddest susurration, more furtive than rain but distinctive. I've been woken at 3 in the morning by it, when everything was utterly and completely still and silent otherwise. And maybe my roof needed seeing to.

Jac - I'm sure you're right. I have never, and I am touching wood here, been in a hostage situation with or without a child. I do know kids who run into sharp shelves in supermarkets can keep up an effortless shriek for 20 minutes or more without even seeming to need to draw breath and it is close to unbearable, so I added a shrieking child as an element of tension. I normally do write from what I know but every element of this story was alien to me dunno

Weird having 2 blogs going at once laugh

Ghosted or benched?

AI I can't even remember when I last felt a 'connection' sigh - oddly enough there's a bloke of about 28 who messages very occasionally from the other side of the world and although there's no "interest" heart beating
on either side, not even a pretence of it, I'm always pleased to see a mail and to catch up.

Hope you are thoroughly enjoying Lockdown Lite as we move gently forward into the light yay

Ghosted or benched?

Polite ghosts, LOVE it crazy

Mimiiii! yay

Ghosted or benched?

AI you're completely right it depends how much they mattered in the first place. If one was enjoying the correspondence, even looking forward to it, it can be a little devastating. "What did I do? What did I say? Is he dead? "crying and then there are the ones who write again after an age and one thinks "oh RIGHT you used to write nearly every day!! How the devil are you, stranger?" dunno

I do think they only matter the first couple of times, we get so used to internet contacts and their stop-start, vanish, go weird, that after the first or second time - meh.

I've never ghosted once I'm into regular correspondence but when someone says the same thing over and over I can see the temptation. yawn wave Still, only polite to say something like "listen, you take care ok?"

A story for you to finish (well out of comfort zone, call it a lockdown distraction)

You're a good details man, Mic!! handshake

A story for you to finish (well out of comfort zone, call it a lockdown distraction)

A story for you to finish (well out of comfort zone, call it a lockdown distraction)

His superiors will announce that he has been suspended and will be undergoing trauma counselling for having permanently disfigured the hostage. He may be quietly returned to duty later – it really depends how upset the AHNB bunch are and how closely they watch against his return.

But that’s just my take. I’ll try a nice love story with, hmm, one or two warning signals . . . some time. I do appreciate it is hard to break the cycle of attention riveted on politics and health. Hope those that did read found the momentary break interesting at least smile

A story for you to finish (well out of comfort zone, call it a lockdown distraction)

Some, after thought and debate, looking at plans and sketches of the venue and how the hostages were placed, will come up with an effective or even brilliant solution and be loudly astonished that their solution wasn’t reached at the time, in the time, and under pressure.
