It's not nonsense, Home Rule was on the statute books, it was law! Only those who believe in the 'big bad wolf' view of the Brits can disagree with that.
Connolly was a fanatic like the rest of them, they thought they had a right to plunge everyone into bloodshed. Those who think it was ok to destroy Dublin should think about what it would have been like to be living there at the time and whether they would have taken part in it or not. It's very easy to romanticise the past but violence and destruction are the same in 1916 as they are now!
Take a break from being a civil servent for a minute and stick your head out the window and say to them 'son's of Orpheus, forsake your waking dreams...clear your heads and lead a clean life with the help of our lord jesus christ who died for you today'..
Speaking of which....has anyone heard the ad on RTE radio about the TV licence? A guy in a strong Cork accent says 'tv licence on the shelf, wouldn't it be great if you just payed yourself'.
Fair play to you. Actually teaching my nephew to drive at the moment and while we were practising the reversing around the corner I thought I'd try it myself! Hadn't done it since my own test and it was harder than I thought!
