They'd say absolutely anything to get a vote. Michael O'Leary described them as 'economic illiterates' which they are, as well as having a history of murder and mayhem.
Just wondering though if maybe you would have been even worse if you hadn't been given those few slaps? As it's hard to know what would have happened to any of us if things had been different. I got a few slaps and I think it did me good. I can't know for sure of course as it's only speculation.

Don't give up the drink myself as I drink so little that there would be no point. A friend of mine does however, every year without fail. I read somewhere that Bertie Ahearn gives up drink every Lent as well.
Yeah good thread alright, lots of good discussion of moral issues. If there was a war here I'd hide under my bed, I'm a total coward, I'd probably never get a pardon for that!
Not sure it's hindsight to say that, after all Germany invaded Poland and Czeckoslovakia thus making their intentions clear. It was clear they were going to take anything they wanted, by force.
