Because the pound sterling is a sovereign currency, if it goes so does British sovereignty, it is the only thing that separates the UK from the rest of Europe, plus it gives the UK an edge on exporting and importing pricing. There are no advantages to the UK joining the euro other than making it a bit easier when travelling in the rest of Europe and having to exchange pounds for euros[/quote If I am not mistaken, when the question first came up some years ago (c. Tony Blair, et. al) the administrations' succinct reply was that Great Britain would NOT change the financial portfolios. They were quite adamant, as I recall. (Most British financial professionals believe it would be a mistake to join the Euro, as I understand).
Because even the most highly educated people are always trying to figure it out given the "knowns". It can only be figured out (so to speak) when the "unknowns" are factored in. There wasn't ever a first day. The best way to think of it (with the tools we have) is like a rolling ring (like the "Riddle" song) no beginning, and no end. Now, the really important question: Why do beans, you know, do what beans do (to some people).??(I never.... )
here's what I think (for real)--we always try to figure things out with the experience and limitations we have in this dimension, place, and time. There was no "before"--it has been, is, and will be. I know it'll sound heretic, (o no!) but there was no "beginning". Think about it, just what would there have been before "the big bang"? No one seems to have a good answer for that. So the logical answer is that there was no before. It always has been. Now, Ardie, about that bean theory of yours....mild, medium, or extra hot?
Hey! I just got a very curt e-mail telling me not to Hi-Jack this thread! Well, looky here, dweeb--I ain't the organ grinders monkey--I'll do as I darn please. When will I do what you tell me to do? At the last second of the twelfth of never, that's when, Buck-O. When a cat can fly and a fish can ride a tricycle, that's when. So there. (O.K. I'm good now).
know that one. Flood, earthquake and fire victims didn't "choose" that. Nor cancer patients. Nope, life just isn't that pat. How many people really get their "dream" job? How many people are actually living their idea of fulfillment ? Very few, actually.
Love really knows no distance, no time, no age, no gender...it is what it is. If we take no risks, we gain nothing. Of course it is important to be good stewards of our own hearts--I say if you both are on the same page, then you know, life is short. Love , real love, is rare and wonderful. Get it while the gettin's good, dear.
I hear ya. We had to have the criminal background check here, it's an APB (all points bulletin) because I was a licensed tech and because we have access and authority over controlled substances--it's a good idea, if you ask me. Also, when I purchased a house, they ran me through all kinds of crappola--I'm glad they accepted your summary. Wouldn't be so easy here. In a few days I'll get a new passport. I'm not really planning on traveling outside of the U.S., but still want it for I/D purposes, as nothing measures up to a passport. Well, thanx for writing--it's good to see you, Lovie.

Howdy fordy--find a forum that is closest to what it is you want to discuss or watch being discussed. If you really can't find one that describes what you want, go to the "lounge". Usually another member will steer you in the right direction, if that is needed. (For example, if you start talking about a misunderstanding with your significant other, someone may say "that's being talked about on "Dating" right now. Most of the members are really cool, some aren't. Give the nice ones lotsa hugs, and kick the turdballs to the curb where they belong. Took me awhile, but I just don't hang around for insults, etc... well, I might tussle for a bit, but it don't last. Have fun, no need to stay in stagnant water if you don't want to. There are plenty of really, really nice folks here.
He's been making greeting cards--they're nice ones, too. Have a look in "e-cards". (Just giving you a plug, Soldier. You WERE missed. A bunch. Lots. Tons. Okay, okay--I'm d i s m i s s e d...... Good to see you!
Heads Up, my friend. Get a brand new one. No kidding. You can't undo all the garbage, and perhaps you already know that even "erased" time/bytes, etc...never have quality. Get a new one, do it for yourself. Honest.
thread locked, so slipping in the back door. After reading as much as time allowed, I still have to ask--what else could be done? Way too many people were being denied care. Something HAD to be done. Try , if you really don't agree, to imagine that it could be YOU or somebody you love and care about--far more than 50% of the population is a check or two away from homelessness. It's not funny. Just please, put yourself in the uninsured's shoes.
rainy, sunny, foggy, all in one day. Ah, this is such a swell place I like it no matter the weather. Made bean and onion soup, had the parrot out for quite awhile (he's a cute little booger) so can say I've had a really cool day here on the coast.
