RE: Unilateral Bin Laden Operation

Pay attention:

YES.....if we were unable or unwilling to do it....come on and get him. Good thing is that we CAN handle it.

You said arrogant - I said responsible. We are like Spider Man....we HAVE to help those that CAN'T do it.laugh

I doub't Russians could get past an Alaskan beach though....

RE: Unilateral Bin Laden Operation

If we went in simply to kill innocent people maybe, but to apprehend a confessed mass murderer who vowed to do more....into a friendly nation no less....

If I go blow up the tower in Toranto full of Canadians and drive back home will you come get me? Can we call you a terrorist for it?doh

RE: Unilateral Bin Laden Operation

Our forces are indeed held accountable ...as they should be. I didn't say we have all rights, but do think we had the right and responsibility to go get this person in that place at this time under these conditions.

If some nutcase blows up people in an Arab country and hides in the US and we are not able to find him...sure - let 'em come get him....if they can - but they lack our skills and money.

As for history.......your right.....those that went into foreign lands for gain should be attacked and driven out - why would you assume that I have a diff idea? Too bad sticks and stones don't beat guns and bombs - they coulda had some justice too.

RE: Unilateral Bin Laden Operation

Both the US and PAK are members of the UN. If two people are walking down the street and one sees a threat that the second does not see and handles it then who would complain? PAK didn't know (they said so) about OBL and we did...we did our part to help out a friend.

This BS about rights and sovereignty is nuts.......the guy was a confessed criminal hiding in a UM members state and he could have had a trial if he gave up.

Now maybe PAK will get on the ball and those that still thought that they are safe and can't be found............NOTlaugh

RE: Unilateral Bin Laden Operation

If a man kills in your house and runs to another house do you want the police to stop at the door and ask permission to go get him?....esp when the the owners of the house or not capable of doing anything about it.

Once inside if the police are in danger should they defend themselves to complete the task?

Lotta talkin heads..empty heads......people that neither know the facts nor have ever been in a "hot" situation.

RE: Aiding occupation: why not helping Israel do the right things?

What is the "right" thing?

Whatever brings peace would be the best thing....right or not.

RE: Aiding occupation: why not helping Israel do the right things?

Nobody can MAKE another do anything w/o force. I don't agree w/ using force or money to create unbalance.

RE: Aiding occupation: why not helping Israel do the right things?

I think everyone wants peace.......just that they want the some plot of sand and rocks....thus the lack of peace.

RE: Aiding occupation: why not helping Israel do the right things?

In life there must always be compromise.

The middle east has enough sand and rocks for all that want to live there.

Seems like the only thing to worry about would be "holy" sites.

Both Muslims and Jews have to realize that neither can have every square meter they want and will have to share by either allowing both to use a certain area or equally divided it.

This seems so simple a child can understand it, but then it is wrecked by the closed and uncompromising minds of zealots.

RE: Aiding occupation: why not helping Israel do the right things?

Pretty much always are....and I only follow a short bit then let them go.

RE: Aiding occupation: why not helping Israel do the right things?

I'm not pro or anti either "side", but this from Balfour is interesting:

"The contradiction between the letters of the Covenant [of the League of Nations] and the policy of the Allies is even more flagrant in the case of the ‘independent nation’ of Palestine than in that of the ‘independent nation‘ of Syria. For in Palestine we do not propose to even go through the form of consulting the wishes of the present inhabitants of the country though the American Commission is going through the form of asking what they are.

The Four Great Powers [Britain, France, Italy and the United States] are committed to Zionism. And Zionism, be it right or wrong, good or bad, is rooted in age-long traditions, in present needs, and future hopes, of far profounder import than the desires and prejudices of the 700,000 Arabs who now inhabit that ancient land. In my opinion that is right.
