Trump challenging China on trade would spark 'very aggressive' response, expert predicts

The warning comes after the US secretary of state, Rex Tillerson, said relations between the US and China – re-established by Chairman Mao and Richard Nixon in 1972 – had reached “a pivot point” after more than four decades of “no conflict”.

On Sunday, the Chinese foreign minister, Wang Yi, struck a similar note, telling reporters the most important task facing Chinese diplomats now was to be “well prepared” for Trump’s upcoming visit to China. That trip would help “to map out the relations of the next 50 years”, Wang said, according to the official Xinhua news agency.

To keep ants out of your home, pour a little lemon juice on window sills and doorways. And to get rid of mosquitoes, stick cloves into a lemon cut in half.

When you are preparing fresh berries, you’ll probably stain your hands. Lemon juice will help you remove the color from your skin. Removing berry stains from your clothes is also easy. First, wash the fabric in cold water, and then soak your clothes in lemon juice for a few minutes.

Lemon peels and baking soda will make your stainless steel shine.

The combination of lemon juice and baking soda has alkalizing, digestive and depurative properties. It regulates the level of bad cholesterol, purifies the liver, and gives us a good dose of vitamin C. Add a teaspoon of baking soda and juice of half a lemon to a glass of mineral water and drink it in the morning. Take it for two weeks in a row, and then rest for two more.

Leave fresh citrus peel in your shoes overnight to absorb odors.

Try to wipe your fridge with a sponge soaked in lemon juice and you’ll forget about unpleasant smells. Using lemon, you can also make your own homemade air freshener. Just add lemon juice to the dishwasher when it’s empty and let it run a cycle or add a bit of lemon juice to the humidifier.

Drinking a glass of warm lemon water with honey in the morning on an empty stomach helps to improve digestion and boost your immune system.

To get your white laundry the whitest it can be, soak it in a mixture of lemon juice and baking soda for at least half an hour before washing.

Keep your cutting board clean and give it a long life using a halved lemon as a sponge and salt as a scrub. After this is done, leave the board for 10-15 minutes then repeat this procedure one more time.

Peel a lemon, pour 5 fl oz (150 ml) of vinegar over it and leave it overnight. In the morning, add 5 fl oz (150 ml) of water. That’s it! Pour the mixture into an empty spray bottle and use it as an all-natural cleaning solution throughout your home.

In Singapore, Family Feud Deepens Over Facebook Posts

The dispute is the latest in a bitter family drama that has riveted the city-state and raised questions about the legacy of Mr. Lee, Singapore’s first prime minister, and how the nation should be governed after 58 years of one-party rule.

As part of an international investigation into the Malaysian fund, officials in the United States have asserted that nearly $1.45 billion from the bond sales had been illegally redirected, and that some of the cash ended up in the hands of friends and associates of the prime minister of Malaysia, Najib Razak, and with executives from Abu Dhabi’s sovereign wealth fund. Mr. Najib has denied any wrongdoing.
In a further complication, 1MDB defaulted on the bonds, leaving Malaysia and Abu Dhabi arguing over who would pick up the tab. They eventually agreed that 1MDB would pay $1.2 billion to the Abu Dhabi fund by the end of this year, and that it would assume all interest and principal payments on the bonds.

Unrelated to this dispute, 1MDB remains the subject of investigations in Singapore, Switzerland, the United States and other jurisdictions. American officials are seeking to recoup $1 billion they say was ultimately spent in the United States.

Japan almost finished with probe into US Navy ship collision

The container ship, the ACX Crystal, and most of its crew were allowed to leave Japan for Thailand on Sunday after repairs were finished. Coast guard officials declined to give details.

The container ship and most of its crew were allowed to leave Japan and coast guard officials said they don't expect charges to be filed. A spokesman for the company that owns the freighter said Monday that the captain and some crew members had voluntarily stayed behind.

A Possible Scenario for the USS Fitzgerald Collision
Possible Scenario Part 2

ACX Crystal was in a relative position to FITZ for some period of time. ACX Crystal was steering on a set course and speed that paralleled that of USS Fitzgerald presumably on her starboard quarter (behind her to the right) at about two to three nautical miles, or closer.

Possible Scenario Part 3

FITZ made a routine (for a Navy ship) maneuver. FITZ maneuvered, most likely contrary to the Nautical Rules of the Road, to meet a future operational Navy requirement. Navy ships are unpredictable, always going someplace and often in a hurry, not always easy to talk with on the radio and always training new and inexperienced crew, all to the consternation of the civilian mariners.

As Bloomberg notes, the regime of Kim Jong Un - which has accelerated the country's nuclear program since taking power in 2011 - is said to possess rockets that can hit South Korea and Japan with as many as 20 atomic bombs, and it’s now focused on building a long-range missile capable of hitting Washington, D.C., with a nuclear warhead.

North Korea, which has 700,000 active soldiers, and a whopping 4.5 million reserves.

North Korea had also massed about 20,000 rockets and missiles on the border with South Korea

Russians had massive firepower capability including ships, submarines and armed forces. Recently the Russians had demonstrated in Ukraine that they had the ability to bombard a 1km square area of land and “basically clean it out”.

After decades of investment, the country is believed to be able to make most types of chemical weapons, but focus on sulphur mustard, chlorine, phosgene, sarin and VX. Stockpiles are estimated at 2,500-5,000 tons. Chemical toxins can be fired in a wide range of artillery shells, rockets and missiles.

The Army is 1,020,000 strong, with more than 3,500 main battle tanks made up of ageing T-34, T-54, T-55 and T-62 types dating back decades. It is estimated to have more than 21,000 different artillery pieces.

There are approximately 8,600 artillery pieces, both self-propelled and towed, and roughly 5,500 multiple rocket launch systems (MLRS) deployed in the artillery corps of North Korea

Tanks 6 000
Armoured fighting vehicles: 4 000

Self-propelled artillery: 4 500
Rocket artillery: 5 000

RE: USA Vs North Korea

It is important to take into account that before any action was taken on the part of the UN on June 27, 1950 authorizing intervention in the Korean War, the US had decided and began to send military support to the South Korean side of the conflict. The independent journalist, I.F. Stone in his book, “The Hidden History of the Korean War,” describes this US action as forcing the UN Security Council to support the US Government action in Korea.(2)

Stone writes:

“When Truman ‘ordered the United States air and sea forces to give the Korean Government troops cover and support’ he was in effect imposing military sanctions before they had been authorized by the Security Council. The Council had to vote sanctions or put itself in the position of opposing the action taken by the United States. For governments dependent on American bounty and themselves fearful of Soviet expansion, that was too much to expect, though again Yugoslavia had the courage to vote ‘No,’ an act of principle for which it got no credit from the Soviet bloc while antagonizing the United States to which it owed its Council seat.”

By acting before the Security Council could act, the US was in violation of Article 2(7) of the UN Charter which requires a Security Council action under Chapter VII before there is any armed intervention into the internal affairs of another nation unless the arms are used in self-defense. (See Article 51 of the UN Charter. The US armed intervention in Korea was clearly not an act of self defense

RE: USA Vs North Korea

The United States and the Soviet Union accepted mutual responsibility for the country, with the Soviets taking control of the country to the north of the 38th Parallel and the Americans taking the south. Over the next few years, the Soviet Union fostered a communist government under Kim Il-Sung and the US supported the provisional government in the south, headed by Syngman Rhee. By 1950 tensions between the two zones had risen to the point that two increasingly hostile armies had built up along the 38th Parallel.

In the pre-dawn hours of 25 June 1950 the Korean People’s Army (KPA) launched a massive offensive across the 38th Parallel into South Korea. They drove the Republic of South Korea’s (ROK) forces down the peninsula, capturing the capital, Seoul, within a week. South Korean and hastily deployed United States Army units fought delaying actions as they were forced further down the Korean peninsula, which allowed defensive positions to be set up around the port city of Pusan.

Male, July 26: Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has accused India of “undermining” the spirit of the SAARC by “casting shadows” of bilateral issues on the multilateral forum for regional cooperation.
In a joint press conference with Maldivian President Abdulla Yameen here, Sharif Tuesday said that the last Islamabad SAARC summit was not the first time that India caused harm to the SAARC by seeking its postponement.
“It had done so on four occasions,” he claimed.
After holding talks with Yameen, Sharif said Pakistan and Maldives have agreed to work together to make the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) a vibrant organisation and a vehicle to realise their shared dreams for a peaceful and prosperous region.
“India undermined and violated the spirit of SAARC Charter by casting shadows of bilateral issues and problems on a multilateral forum for regional cooperation,” he was quoted as saying by the state-run Associated Press of Pakistan (APP).
“We, however, remain grateful for President Yameen’s support regarding the SAARC summit in Islamabad,” he added.
Sharif said that during his talks with the Maldivian President he also raised the Kashmir issue.
India pulled out of the SAARC Summit in Islamabad last year citing increased “cross-border” attacks after heightened tension with Pakistan over Uri terror attack.
Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Bhutan also pulled out of the Summit indirectly blaming Pakistan for creating an environment which was not right for the successful holding of the meet, resulting in its collapse.

Amid the ongoing Panamagate controversy, China and the Pakistani Army are trying to ensure that the construction of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) does not face any disruption, thus, making it clear that their interests are more important than the hard-earned money of Pakistani tax-payers, said a recent report by the European Foundation For South Asian Studies. The Panama Leaks fallout on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has imposed a challenge over the construction of the CPEC. Although the two countries have agreed to move the CPEC project forward, regardless of the Panamagate issue, the Chinese leadership’s instruction was that the Pakistani Army-driven Joint Investigation Team (JIT) needs to guarantee that the project remains the country’s main priority.

“Most likely, the Pakistani Army would like to keep the pressure on Nawaz Sharif by letting the courts investigate and perhaps even allow it to come up with a harsh judgment. The officers of the Pakistani Army are much more content in de facto ruling the country while having a weak Prime Minister than having a military President, who has to deal with legitimacy issues,” it adds.

RE: Popularity

Ripen the mango in a paper bag or newspaper. Leave the bag of mangos on the kitchen counter overnight and check for ripeness in the morning. Mangos wrapped in a paper bag will release ethylene, which is an odourless gas that speeds up the ripening process.

To speed up ripening, place mangos in a paper bag at room temperature. Once ripe, mangos should be moved to the refrigerator, which will slow down the ripening process. Whole, ripe mangos may be stored for up to five days in the refrigerator.

If you want to ripen your mangoes quickly, then do the following:
It is a fact that ethylene gas contributes to fruit ripening. Therefore, place unripe mangoes in a paper bag with fruits that emit a high concentration of ethylene gas such as apples, bananas, pears, passion fruit and avocados at a warmer place like kitchen. So putting an apple or banana will increase the amount of ethylene gas in the bag. This is the best way to ripen a mango quickly.

Using the microwave to ripen your mango provides you with a perfectly-ripened piece of fruit that you can enjoy immediately without having to wait.

Step 1

Poke a mango with a sharp knife in four areas. This allows steam to escape.

Step 2

Wrap the mango in a paper towel to keep your microwave clean and evenly distribute the heat.

Step 3

Place the mango into the microwave for 10 seconds. Take it out and touch it, to feel for ripeness. If it's soft, cut it and see if it looks and tastes ripe.

Step 4

Place the mango back into the microwave for another 10 seconds if it's not ripe enough after the first try. It should be soft and sweet when it's ripe.
