Arthur Lee influenced many bands right up to the present day. Falsely accused of firearm offenses and sentenced to twelve years prison in 1996, Lee was released in 2001 after a federal appeals court in California reversed the charge of negligent discharge of a firearm, as it found that the prosecutor at Lee's trial was guilty of misconduct. Lee then went on to pick his career up with a string of live performances. He died in 2006 after a long battle with cancer.
Here he is at Glastonbury 2003 with another fine song from Forever Changes.
In 2003, Rolling Stone magazine ranked Forever Changes 40th in its list of the 500 greatest albums of all time. It has also been chosen one of the all-time greatest rock albums by several other prominent publications. In addition, the album was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2008.
Wiki
Not bad for an album most people have never heard of.
Well I'll say one thing about Stockport, the town I live in, there's a great and diverse music scene here. Even better one down the road in Manchester.
