Its a good habit to get into. Just taking a minute between our different tasks during the day to still the mind is really beneficial. Just to detach your thoughts from what you've been doing and what youre about to do is very calming.
Quantas is already demanding proof of vaccination before you can fly with them...
"International air travellers will in future need to prove they have been vaccinated against Covid-19 in order to board Qantas flights, the airline says.
The Australian flag carrier's boss, Alan Joyce, said the move would be "a necessity" when vaccines are available."
"I think that's going to be a common thing talking to my colleagues in other airlines around the globe," he said.
While riding on a train goin' west I fell asleep for to take my rest I dreamed a dream that made me sad Concerning myself and the first few friends I had
With half-damp eyes I stared to the room Where my friends and I spent many an afternoon Where we together weathered many a storm Laughin' and singin' till the early hours of the morn
By the old wooden stove where our hats was hung Our words were told, our songs were sung Where we longed for nothin' and were quite satisfied Talkin' and a-jokin' about the world outside
With haunted hearts through the heat and cold We never thought we could ever get very old We thought we could sit forever in fun But our chances really was a million to one
As easy it was to tell black from white It was all that easy to tell wrong from right And our choices they were few and the thought never hit That the one road we traveled would ever shatter and split
How many a year has passed and gone And many a gamble has been lost and won And many a road taken by many a first friend And each one I've never seen again
I wish, I wish, I wish in vain That we could sit simply in that room again Ten thousand dollars at the drop of a hat I'd give it all gladly if our lives could be like that
In any big city crime is a constant issue and Manchester is no exception. In fact there was a period not so long ago when Manchester became known as Gunchester. I must admit though, it's the first time I've found myself giving police witness statements twice in one week.
There was a bit of crime going on outside my house last night. Four guys smashed a car up with hammers and baseball bats, then attacked the occupants. It seems a couple of them were stabbed but fortunately none of them received life threatening injuries, I suspect the car was a write off though. Last week I witnessed a shooting outside my son's house, so all in all its been an eventfull week on the crime scene for me here in Manchester.
Its actually known as The Isle of Portland even though it's not strictly an island but a peninsula. Portland Bill is at the tip of the peninsula. It's a beautiful area, part of whats known as the Jurassic Coast due to the large amount of fossils to be found in the rocks along the coastline.
Maybe look at my post #66. Both sides will often do their best to discredit the other. As ever, it's usually from the middle ground that the clearest view can be found.
That's quite a question given that it can mean so many different things. But we are all experiencing varying degrees of awareness, and from time to time this awareness will shift. The amount of shift towards greater awareness depends ultimately on how we use our minds. To become more aware, or reach a higher level of consciousness is a long process requiring great self discipline.. Or perhaps a few sessions with lsd lol. Anyway, I think this site offers some answers without being affiliated to any religious cause, it's worth having a quick look....
"Closing Thoughts
Why is higher consciousness essential for a meaningful life?
Your consciousness is a powerful thing. Yet, it can be stagnant if left untapped.
Your perceptions, beliefs, and everything in between influences your reality – but it also creates it.
Without higher consciousness, we are like mechanical beings running simply on survival, without thought and enlightenment.
This is why higher consciousness is essential to purpose and happiness. Without it, you will never discover the true nature of being. The real you. The real reality of life and of yourself.
In many ways he's pointing out that you don't need a religion to connect to a higher power, or higher level of consciousness. In fact he's suggesting religion can be a barrier to divine awakening. That's possibly why I'm often pulled towards Buddhist teachings, it's debatable as to whether Buddhism is a religion anyway, especially in the Western idea of religion.
There's no such thing as super food. It's just a marketing phrase recently thought up and used very efficiently to promote foods that otherwise would have described as part of a healthy diet. 'Superfoods' sounds a bit more than what they really are and it's worked well.
Its a battle as old as religion itself. I like the way James Hollis sums it up in his book, Mythologems, Incarnations of the Invisible World....
"When we take the gods as facts, rather than metaphors , we get lost in debating the merits of the facts rather than apprehending their meaning. The fundamentalist ties his or her beliefs to the facts and narrows the spiritual vitality by fighting rear-guard actions against disputation. On the other hand, the atheist disputes the evidence, gets confused by the institutional forms to which he or she has been exposed, and misses the possible deepening which occurs whenever one confronts the meaning of divinity.
When institutions prevail over private experience, the oppression will manifest as depression and reification, precursors to the horrors of pogroms and crusades. This is the meaning behind the critiques of Kierkegaard and Nietzsche in the nineteenth century and the so-called “death of God” theologians in the twentieth. Each had observed that the imago Dei ossified and ceased to move its communicants to awe. In time, the momentum and self-interest of the institution can even serve to prevent people from primal, religious encounter which could actually threaten its stability and the social vision it guards.
As Jung said, the gods had become diseases. The names they once rendered luminous had become husks. As I have previously noted, the oldest of religious sins is to worship the husk after the energy has departed. It is called idolatry, and we have raised up many false gods in our time. Consider our contemporary Pantheon: plenipotentiary Progress, massive Materialism; heroic Health; normative Narcissism, nasty Nationalism; sophistic Scientism, and many others. None saves, none connects, none abides, and we all damn well know it."
Not all the groups. To claim this is wrong or that is right would be an acceptance that there is something to be right or wrong about, whilst in Buddhism there is 'no thing' there to be right or wrong about in the first place.
RE: Creator
Buddhism is widely viewed as a religion.
