Gal lives in Dublin Ohio.

There’s only one Dublin – Baile Atha Cliath, Fair City, the Big Smoke. Well, in Ireland, at least. In the US there are not one, not two, but nine Dublins, and that number rises to eleven if you take townships into consideration. Dublin, Ohio is perhaps the best-known Dublin in the USA.handshake

Did you know there’s a Portland, England? I think it’s on the southern west peninsula. Tell me...handshake

Not in the south west but in Dorset on the south coast. It's a peninsula with Portland Bill at the tip.

Thank you. Must one say, “Portland Bill”, or is just Portland correct, too?

Its actually known as The Isle of Portland even though it's not strictly an island but a peninsula. Portland Bill is at the tip of the peninsula. It's a beautiful area, part of whats known as the Jurassic Coast due to the large amount of fossils to be found in the rocks along the coastline.

As Bodleing has stated it's in Dorset. Although it is a lovely area it is home to The Verne, a category C prison and also home to an institute for young offenders.

Also moored offshore was a prison ship. HM Prison Weare was a Category C prison ship for adult males, berthed at Portland Port in Portland Harbour. It was acquired by the British government in 1997 and remained in use until 2005.

Damn, that was freakin' fantastic! Thanks so much for posting it, galrads. Having had three kids who were in orchestra, band, and choral group during their school years, I forward the link to them as I know they'll appreciate it, too. head banger banana applause

I display a glass stained Celtic rose in a window of the gathering room in my Dublin Home. Living in a condo association we are not allowed anything displayed in windows but no one in the Village has said anything to me about it.
