Frankly, i really dont know how to react to situations as mentioned by the OP. Maybe my initially my reaction would be of shock. Then anger. Then pain. But never would i make a scene. I would walk away. Hard to fathom really. Never would want that kind of experience happening to me.
Try visiting a lung center. Now is a good time to make friends with patients afflicted with "smoking related" illnesses and put yourself in their shoes. Watch. Listen. Learn from their sufferings. Maybe, the thoughts of them will significantly impress a good dose of shock in you and make you quit cold turkey.
