I was raised on a ranch where rattlesnakes were prevalent and they were nasty to both humans and animals. I was brought up to handle BB guns and .22's alongside my four brothers and sisters. We were not allowed to touch the weapons without parental/grandparental supervision and if we even thought of disobeying, we were punished firmly. The weapons were kept in a gun safe and we didn't know the combination. Then in high school I was on the ROTC rifle team all four years with the medals to prove that I'm an expert marksman. Now mind you, I was the only girl on a Hispanic male dominated team. I fought not only stereotype, but earned their respect. I'm still friends with them 24 years later.
I grew up on a ranch in Texas and now own my own ranch here as well. I have eighteen cats, six dogs, four horses, three sheep, two rabbits, two white ring-neck doves and various chickens and turkeys.
I have Quarter Horse bloodlined Paint Horses. Have an Aussie saddle too. It's wonderful for when riding fence and checking on the cattle.
I'm sure you'd like right fine.
The Andalusians are beautiful horses. Very fiery and agile, but you're right- they have no braking power whatsoever. While you may not have many calves around there, you do have fighting bulls and wine.
Well, most stallions aren't what I'd call "kid horses". Sure, some of 'em are plenty gentle, but I'd never trust them to be alone with a kid on their back. Your stud sounds like one heck of a great fellow.
Mae West- I learn something new everyday! Thank you!
Boy, if that ranch was around, I'm sure I would have heard of it. I traversed a lot of New Mexico, Arizona and Texas as a kid.
Black Angus. My father's family have raised them for generations. I have paints of foundation Quarter Horse bloodlines.Does the name Skipper W ring a bell? That's the bloodline I use.
Bless you SweetSong for taking these dear ones in for a time. Kittens are generally easier to re-home. I love all animals and cats are a particular favorite of mine.
Willy is indeed correct. It's lovely to see and even more wonderful under saddle. Some of the cowboys here are rather uncouth.Hence why they need work on their lead changes.
I was born and raised on a ranch in west Texas. Been around cowboys all of my life. I'm around horses and good cowdogs all day. I'm still a cowgirl at heart and in life.
Oh, that's so wonderful!! Do give him a great big hug from me and please let him know that I thank him for his service and pray for the safety and well-being of the troops all of the time. I was in the US Army 20 years ago.
My older brother's nickname is "Bubba" too. When I was little I couldn't say "brother" so he became "Bubba". When I was older, I learned that I had an uncle (who has long since passed away before I was even born) who was nicknamed "Bubba" also.
I earned the nickname of "Scratch" due to being a tomboy growing up and always having various scratches and scrapes having been raised up on a ranch. Let's see, "babe", "halo" and "Rev" (short for Reverend which is my work title).
My ex hubby's family raise and race Standardbreds. They have a winter training facility outside of Orlando, Florida called Winter Miles and often race their horses in Chicago and in Pennsylvania.
It's like a cross between the two. When he's out jogging in the pasture, he just floats as if on air. When he's walking under saddle he leaves the other horses in his dust.

You first.
