hehe I know you wouldn't get angry .. anyway .. the part of our humane human brain that controls the love response also controls hate response. I dont know the name of this cerebelum masterpiece but sciantifically I've been told its true so .. who am I to argue.
The compassion/love you seek in tandem with learning, cannot therefore exist without accepting the possibility of its counterpart 'hate'. I know people 'want' for the most part to learn through compassion and indeed it seems far more acceptable to some hopefully most or we're doomed, but even doom has its own pheonix.
To others though, being drawn to debate through hate also tandems to create a learning.
it must be noted imperically; the object or the person expected to learn is not always the one with compassion nor the one with hate, but indeed learning does happen through both emotions.
One can hardly debate with agreeable people (people who agree with you, as opposed to people who are just plain annoyably agreeable, if you catch my drift)
I think we can agree on this, so no debate is required.
In fact opposition and/or a desire to expound on views is required. However I agree that that opposition does not require belittling or demeaning, inappropriate language focused to deter another's attempt at joining. Needing to make someone else feel stupid surely points to your own ignorance among other things.
HOWEVER. The very premise is be disagreeable, (again a distinction between being disagreeing, as opposed to being annoyably disagreeable needs to be noted.)
Forward to the point;
