Why is it ok for a single person to take a life in self defence as opposed to a state sanctioned one? Is this not an arguement in the preservation and rehabilitation of life? As opposed to an arguement against political power? What if the perpetrator suffered the same mental illness in both instances, why can you get away without showing compassion but he state cannot? irrespective of the motivations behind that compassion?
If the world is to change it should happen within us first....as Gandhi put it "be the change you want to see".
Is it the motivation behind state killing that offends you, in which case you dont really have a fully developed compassion for life but more an irk for people in power.
No i dont have a full understanding of self actualization but only a small perception that it is for one to fully realise their own potential for the good.
What if it solely is a crappy genetic make up. The arguement of nature versus nurture has been invetigated for years and they still are no closer to finding if its one or the other.
For me its a bad cocktail of timing genetics and environment how can you stabalize all three of those at the same time. What seems a simple solution to you may not be in anyway humanly possible?
Have you ever encountered someone who was fully self actualized, what makes you think that fully actualized people are any less capable of being a serial killer than those who are not? What if someones fullest potential is ever going to be nothing but a serial killer?
The abililty to kill is in all humans, what makes it ok to kill someome in self defence if the act of killing is so reprenshible to you? Isnt it better to disarm or disable them rather than kill a better option? If the act of taking a life is heinous then why is ok in one scenario to you..but not ok as a form of punishment. isnt taking a life in self defence not a form of punishment on the individual also?...or is it power and political motivated killing thats the crux of it?
isnt killing in self defence a form of power over another? why governmental power so wrong yet personal power ok?
What about the care and help given to the victims families after the crime, are they the forgotten ones in society while we give our attention towards the perpetrators.? Where does their anger and grief go?
You are assuming that this self actualisez education will be taken in and processes the same for all children, when they all learn differently....what if half only ever learn or alot less than half learn to be fully self actualized? How self actualized have you to be to go on in life without committing murder? All children have parents, its all well and good educating them, but they will always return to their highest authority figures at home and learn possibly something different there?
Why do we even need a justice system if it is totally flawed also....would it be more economical to sentence those criminals to a life of hard labour in cleaning up their communities while closesly monitored....so they would have to face their victims families everyday while doing hard manual labour? Half the money they earn going to the victims families and the other half to their own bed and board in prison...why not make them earn their keep in prison...
I think its too fanciful a notion to educate children and hope for the best that it sticks.... How self actualized does a person have to be in order to wipe out a murderous tendency?
I dont fully agree with that, alot happens to people not because its meant to be that way but it is through bad luck...bad timing...wrong place at the wrong time kinda of a thing...theres alot in our lives that we dont have control over...

Had a relatively normal upbringing. by normal i mean being brought up by two mentally stable parents in a safe neighbourhood...who have no addictions...run if the mill upbringing. himself/herself not displaying any out of the norm charactistics you would associate with a murderer in their childhood....with no known mental condition, who one day snap and go on a premeditated murder spree be it over days or decades.
What would you do, if in power, with this person??
Historically, capital punishment has been used in almost every part of the world. Currently, the large majority of countries have either abolished or discontinued the practice.
If ^^^^ this was a real possibilty then i would be against the death penalty.
I dont believe taking someones life however the circumstances is right....
but i also dont believe there is enough done in the lines of mental health research nor the capabilities of the human brain to warrant the desolution of the death penalty.
