I actually had every intention of starting college when my daughter was around 10. Took one psychology course, but my daughter made it next to impossible. Now I should take advantage of it.
I have them call me Mom-Mom. I'm too young to be Grandma or Granny! And my ex-mother-in-law was Nanny, so that's OUTTA THE QUESTION!! But my youngest grandson calls me Dammaw. He DOES get corrected!
You're sooo right! When she was little & my friends would call me to go out... of course I couldn't, usually.
Now, she's grown & gone & my FRIENDS have small kids! But my best friend is divorced & shares custody. So, when she has the kids, I just hang out at her house (the kids love it cuz I cook all the time!) & when she doesn't have the kids.... well, we ARE called "Thelma & Louise"!!
Myself... I went to cosmetology school, took my boards, got licensed, & realized it was more my mother's life-long ambition than my own. Now I work behind 2 computers in an office & love my job! What about you?
This will actually be my third grandchild... but my FIRST granddaughter. So yes, I'm excited! And my sister & sister-in-law both had their children by c-section. I know they're a pretty common procedure. She's just very nervous. And since I never experienced it, I can't help her. But they can. I told her to talk to my sister, who is like her second mom.
As some of you already know, my daughter's expecting at the end of October. Last night, she called me & said the baby's breech & she'll need to schedule a c-section. That's the bad news.
The good news is that she asked if I would mind if she schedules the surgery for my birthday! She said she'll be far enough along at that point to have it done.
Some people say give the baby her own birthday. Others think it's a really nice, special thing for my daughter to do.
My mother never approved of anyone I liked. But in hindsight, I can see why. There is one guy who had a HUGE crush on me in high school & for years afterward. My mom thought he was JUST PERFECT for me... until she saw that he'd been busted for having a meth lab in his basement!
He went to jail, did his time, came out clean, & believe it or not, we remained quite good friends.
But I sure do wish my mom was still around to give me advise on guys.....
Yeah, I agree. But then, I guess we can choose not to pay attention to it or respond. As mama always said, "If ya just ignore him, he'll stop it & go away." Mama was soooo smart!!
To me, if something is important enough to me, I'll post it/start a thread about it. If it doesn't seem as important to others, they don't have to respond. We each have our own opinions/views on what is important to us & in life in general.
Who here went to school for one thing but is doing a totally different thing?
You're a trip!! Morning sweetie!I actually work for an educational institution & get a major discount... so the thought hasn't totally escaped my mind!
