Why are WE the United States borrowing money from China?

Why are WE the United States so dependent on foreign countries for our oil?

Someday when I'm old to retire I'd like to vacation up in the mountains of Kentucky or Tennessee in a homemade log cabin and where there's lots and lots of wildlife around.Especially where you can look out your front window in the evenings and the mornings and watch the sunsets and the sunrises.
