He wants money. laugh

RE: I am so embarrassed

laugh I think it's a rather funny storyy, actually. No need to be embarrassed. If he looked like a girl, then it was an honest mistake. It's good that you stopped though. These days, few enough people bother.

RE: CS...teach me how to keep home clean

I must have overlooked your post. Why do it yourself when someone else can do it laugh

RE: Is Harvard just a Myth?

I'm in business and I can tell you that the top financial firms do not recruit from UV, Notre Dame, Brigham Young, etc. In NYC, they used to not even recruit from Berkeley and Stanford since the early 90s, except perhaps to work in IT or research.

They preferably hire from Columbia, Wharton, Kellog, MIT, Stern in finance.

RE: CS...teach me how to keep home clean

I'm not even joking: Hire a cleaning lady to come once every two weeks for an hour or two. The going rate here is $ 15/hr.

RE: Why do Turkey members get such a hard time.

Well, if you state your age at 124, then you deserve to get a block. I can't imagine that a lot of women are into necrophelia tongue

RE: casual dating

If someone says to me they're casually dating, then I interpret that as they're screwing around. If they say they're casually dating one woman, then that means to me that they're screwing her when it's convenient, but they'll just as happily move on to another woman.

RE: what's your opinion on downloading music without paying?

Spot on. They're now talking about getting the ISPs to identify downloads and to tag that download onto the monthly access bill.

I'd gladly pay the artist for a download, but I do not believe that I should pay $ 15 for a CD if I like one song. They could produce a single CD and market it for $ 2, but they earn more if they slap together some garbage to fill up the CD and sell it for $ 15 or more. Sorry, but I'm not buying into that rip.

What percentage of the sale of a CD does an artist get? 5% or less?

RE: Excessive Compulsive Disorder

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.. hmm... I don't have the disorder, but I do obsess over things, especially when I have to deal with companies that owe me money or when they make mistakes in their favor... and I compulsively blab on the phone (not the cell, but the landline)... yakkayakkayaka blablabla... doh

RE: Or maybe I am wrong and they are up there looking down on us?

I asked myself that question also when my son was little and in the end, I decided to be truthful (well, I do not believe in an afterlife). So I explained that death is something that happens to all of us; that it's not a "bad" thing, it just is. People who die stay alive in the hearts of those who remember them. You know, I think it's all in the presentation, meaning how you talk to your child.

I don't believe in feeding kids a bunch of lies about anything really. When you think about it, do we explain to kids the story of St. Nicholas when we talk about Santa Claus? All we tell kids really is that he brings presents... so what message does that convey? (Rhet). Actually I believe that kids see through the balony anyway... sometimes more so than adults.

Will the child resent having been lied to? I don't know. I chose to go the other route. I did ask my son (22) what he thought about how he was raised and he claims that I did a good job because he turned out brilliantly (of course he'd say that because he's a man wink laugh)

RE: I Am the Greatest

Ah, nothing like a bit of healthy self-delusion...

RE: help wanted

I'd delete those, if I were you.
Certainly I cannot speak for other women, but if I were to send you a mail, it would NOT contain a yahoo e-mail addy. The women who are genuinely interested think exactly like you. They don't want to be diverted off the site right away. One more thing, for what it's worth, be realistic. If the woman looks too good to be true, she is.

RE: how you define yourself?

I'm a cantankerous old hag tongue

RE: obama announces new world order

I think that what they had in mind in the 1700s and what the republicans had in mind were two different things. The latter sought to establish a permanent majority in the house and senate. They almost managed to do it, too. Scary when you think about it.

RE: I have Changed my Mind On Obama

Here's a copy of the breakdown of the expenses:

Obama repealed the requirement that the 7.5 K first time homebuyer tax credit be paid back. It's not a tax credit, but it amounts to pretty much the same thing. Why should we give people even more of a tax credit for a new home purchase?

In principle, I'm all for a reduction of cap gains, but at the moment, it's a non-issue because the majority of people have virtually no capital gain, so a tax cut would be pointless.

The capital infusion into state gvmts will at least reduce the risk that they default on their bond issues. Ditto with the medicaid assistance to states.

Tax credit for car buyers. That would reduce the aid we've given to the car companies. So in principle, I can't argue with that laugh.

I see most of what Obama is doing as damage and disaster control to prevent us from slipping into a depression. If we cannot curb unemployment and inflation we're really hosed.

I don't approve of everything Obama is doing, especially the appointment of Shapiro to head up the SEC and Geithner to the Sec Treasury position.

One of the priorities should be scrapping the mark-to-market rule so that investors can correctly price companies/banks/etc. That would instill confidence and bring investors back into the market.

RE: I have Changed my Mind On Obama

Well, if that numbnut Bush and his cronies hadn't gotten us into this debt situation, we wouldn't have to deal with tax hikes now.
That tax hikes would follow uncontrolled spending was a no-brainer from the get-go. I can't believe anyone is moaning about the consequences now... what did y'all think would happen?

Maybe somebody should follow the money trail to see where all the dosh went ...

little late to be posting on the topic doh

RE: War against Christian

I haven't read all 7 pages of comments, but what's wrong with a moment of silence or prayer at home or at church/temple/mosque/etc. ? Why does it have to be in school?
Have a moment of silence during homeroom or during break or in between classes, if you need it. If a child cannot function for 45 minutes without a prayer, there's something wrong.

Usually the religious right that push this kind of stuff are not the majority, but a vocal minority.

RE: Online Dating Changes People!

We're a marketing society. There's a very fine line anymore between telling a whopper and acceptably fudging/massaging the truth a bit. We're also ego-driven; mantra being: if it makes me feel good, it's okay. Add to that the anonymity and the objectification of people behind the screen and there you have it. dunno
