Well said. Hello, Larry. wave

Self-acceptance

My exact sentiment, Junie.

Ditto. wine

P.S. What happens if you can't resolve this conflict? No changes occur. What's next?

Self-acceptance

True.

cheers

Self-acceptance

P.S.
Even if you did not succeed.
It's always easier to accept things that are beyond your control, like bad weather...

Self-acceptance

Doing what it takes in this direction helps. Some balance and acceptance often comes with knowledge that you did your best to resolve whatever you are unhappy with.

Self-acceptance

Not to me, D. (and I suspect the same goes for many people -- only fools are always happy).

To me it doesn't sound easy even in theory.

Self-acceptance

Someone is having not such a great day and needs a hug. hug

Grrrr... Yeah... roll eyes Mondays... moping

Hmmm... You and this lovely lady are not going to be joined at the hip, Scout. wink

Each one of you will have(need/want) your respective personal time. conversing

True, you may not want to sped this personal time in CS forums, though...

Self-acceptance

head banger

I tend to agree with this.

Self-acceptance

That's exactly what I meant, L.,
the desire for any personal improvement or achievement comes from being unsatisfied with who you are (or what you have) at this moment, hence being unhappy (= in unsatisfied state of mind) is a necessary ingredient for the motivation and determination.

Why self-acceptance is so important then? Or is it just one of these overrated things designed to comfort ourselves?

I suppose acceptance is important for things we cannot change,

and there is no really such a thing as a full self-acceptance until one is dead. dunno

Curiosity? The kind that is engraved in our DNA... hmmm

Self-acceptance

I suppose that's the things that need to be accepted if we cannot change them.

Can be really tricky to do so, though.

Hi, Ginger. bouquet

A little bit of human touch

I found CS being being a great learning curve (for me) because of it's diversity of characters.

Also, I value a couple of friendships which I've made along the way, and I've met some people whom I would never had a chance to meet if not for CS forums.

But what prompted me to ask the OP question:

there are hundreds of members on CS (excluding scammers),

but not such a big group of people is actually interested in participating in forums. Many CSers read forums but don't have this need to participate.

So I was wondering if there is something different about us – forum participants?

A little bit of human touch

Make sense.

A little bit of human touch

I believe that is the case with some.

But there are also many people who are actively dating(not virtually, but in RL) or are already in a relationship, however still find some kind of attraction in this virtual mingling.

Phenomenal.

Thank you for sharing, Billy.

Self-acceptance

You are in a right place in life, WC.

Balanced. thumbs up

Some people never get this *harmony*. I might be one of those.

Self-acceptance

Right. That's what I meant - do we have to be unhappy about ourselves to even attempt any change and/or even improvement?

dunno

hmmm

Self-acceptance

Depends on the size of the sandwiches. wow laugh

Size matters.

But what about motivation, Lilmamma?

I mean if you are happy with yourself and the way things are, where do you get motivation for changes?

I have a friend on this site whose questions always make me feel dizzy.

Well, used to... laugh

So true, J., there are situation or things in life that are both disliked and unchangeable. It's up to us to learn to live with it and still be happy.

But there are also many things which can be changed. What about those?

Self-acceptance

Do you have to be unhappy with yourself to know what is wrong in your life and try to change things you don't like about yourself or your life?

If you love yourself just the way you are, happy with who you are right now, at this moment,

does it stop you from exploring new possibilities and from changing yourself for the better?
