I have MS. Although I am still very mobile, the disease has taken it's toll on my health in general. Few will admit to it, but there have been a number of times that I have spoken with people who suddenly lost interest once they learned of my disability. I think it all goes back to that old saying about 'fear of the unknown'. As another CSer said.......we all have some form of disability.......whether it be physical, mental or emotional.
To those that I may have had words with or offended here.....I would give each of them a pair of beautiful diamond earrings or a 14 karat gold ring with their choice of precious gemstone. (The men of course could feel free to exchange it for something more to their liking.)
And because I live in Arizona, I would also like to give each of them something to remember me by. So, I have chosen a Saguaro cactus. They are very tall and prickly. I'll let them decide where they should stick it.....although if they need any suggestions, I would be more than happy to oblige.
No strategies here...only advice. There is not a thing you can do to control what your ex does or does not say to your daughter. Nor can you stop her from trying to utilize the system or your child to continue to get money from you. I don't quite understand your statement about 'making things right'. Go ahead and go to court and let them decide if the support needs to be reduced. Most states have guidelines and formulas they adhere to when assesssing child support amounts. As long as you have stayed current, I don't see why they wouldn't reduce it under the circumstances.
I'm assuming because your daughter is in daycare that she is still quite young. The most important thing is to ALWAYS let her know how much you love her and don't allow your ex to use her as a go-between for relaying information or to throw guilt trips on you. Mediation Courts frown heavily on that sort of behavior from either parent.
And always remember...you don't have the short end of the stick. You have a beautiful child who loves you and wants to spend time with you. What more could you ask for?
