well, yes while its true, we have not been adhering to chinas memorandum on what can and cannot be seen here, and who can and cannot be visit our shores
many reasons recently have made me glad to be australian
1. our incredible tenaciousness to dodge the global econmic crisis (even tho we are far from out of the woods there, we currently have the fittest economoy of the western world)
2. our freedom of speech and not being bullied by chinese diplomats
3. our semi cultured society to be able to view things with a certain amount of skepticism, but not paranoia
4. as much as we are a part of the global community, we have a defined sense of who we are
5. our reasonably tolerant and educated multi cultural society
6. now that we are out iraq, i am glad the troops are home..altho afghanistan still remains a concern ( but we have to abide by the ANZUS treaty)
7. the shutting down and arrests of the potential threats made by terrorists recently
so many more things, and we are far from perfect (indigenous affairs for one)
but i have been mighty chuffed to be an aussie lately
