Most people are ugly in the eyes of someone. My female friend with whom I hang out with, asked for my pic to put on her facebook. Turns out, she refused to post it because she said I was too ungly. Was a little hurt but still have a friendly glass of wine with her on occassion.
I have a friend who worked in Beijing and it was difficult to email her. The authorities often blocked our messages and turn off the power once or twice a week. They filter communication. It seems the communist system is alive and well. Not sure about other places though.
