RE: 47 States Revolt Against Obama Gun Laws

You see, it is comments like that directed towards the South vs the North that only come across "bigoted" and "Misinformed" I am a bit surprised, I do not know if you will ever visit the USA but I think if you had the time and money that you would really see a huge difference than what might be in your mind at this time. It is definitely one of those things that you have to experience and in this case with all the states and the individuality you could spend years and still be surprised, I am, and I have been here my whole life. My brother is a hunter. And we are as far west. Northwest as you can get. I mean you could go up to Alaska. Well, I can imagine there will be a clever come -back but I have clients that need the hair cut and all that fun stuff. I just ask that before you judge so harshly maybe go to some places here that are not just tourist traps and experience it for real.
Good Luck.

RE: 47 States Revolt Against Obama Gun Laws

I have seen a hatred towards the USA from New Zealand though I don't believe that is the majority. I do think that instead of making a difference in the place we can and just trying to stir people up is a very dis-credible past time. If you think that what you say here actually helps others than you are mistaken, and being as you feel this ill feelings towards the USA I do not think that people will see your comments as having any good intentions for the people that Live here. I do not envy you though I do wish you well.
I hope you find what it is you are looking for.

RE: 47 States Revolt Against Obama Gun Laws

I have read more than once in your posts that you make it sound as if the USA is over. And even here you start out that it is not your constitution yet you go on and on with your criticism. And the Country that you are presently living in has plenty of things that you could be talking about to change and being as you are living there maybe you could even make a difference, However, I do not know the liabilities for doing so and even though I don't know you I would not want to see anyone get hurt for just trying to help out the local victims that get caught up in a place that can be very unforgiving. It is always easier to sit thousands of miles away and judge another country then look in your own backyard, being if you are there only for a few years or born there for life. You may not like this Country or what is happening here but what about the one you are living in now? Do you think we should be more like that place? I know that Women were allowed to vote just recently. I also know that on a scale of freedom it rates high in the lack of freedom. But then again I have seen many people here on this site say that it is better to give up freedom if it makes them safer. I don't think that is what I want for a place to live. I enjoy living in the USA and I am the one that has to deal with what is going on now and what the future will bring. If you are happy where you are as well then great. I wouldn't try to change your world unless it threatens my world. I don't think that The USA threatens your world. But I am sure that many will come up with reasons that it does. When you allude that the USA is come and gone. I resent that type of talk. I would say that maybe you need to get off your high horse. Do not mistake these words for anger, it is just what I have seen and it was time to reply. Help the people around you, spread all that Love that you have for those that you can help and maybe there will be people here that will do the same, help where they can, instead of criticize others for reasons unknown.

meant to say "is",,planning to.

RE: 47 States Revolt Against Obama Gun Laws

So has anyone here that is able to going to go and protest at their State Capital or designated place?
anybody?

RE: whats the worst date you have ever had?

well, that was the other thing I didn't even mention. The person I met was 10 years older than the photo and there was no part of my being, mind, body or spirit that was interested, especially after that whole dialogue of " WHat are you doing here, oh! you must be a student of mine" LOL.
I don't know though, if she would have been sincere and not so condescending, I might have found some common interest. Oh well, ancient history.

RE: whats the worst date you have ever had?

Mine was more of a first meeting, here local. I got to the Coffee shop and she had a lot of papers all spread out. I guess she had been there for a hour or so ahead of time. It was a strange feeling from the beginning, I asked if I could get her something and she looked up from her work, ( evidently she was grading papers ) so she looked up and said that she had already eaten and had a coffee. I smiled and said "ok, I will just have them make me a quick coffee." Well, I sat down and she was still looking down her nose through the reading glasses. I started to make a small talk, nothing too deep, she looked up at me with head tilted so she was not looking through the reading glasses and asked if I could sit there and be still for a few moments. LOL, of course I did not want to be rude but it was quite strange for me. I smiled and sipped my coffee when she finally came to a stopping point she asked me some question as though she had my "resume" in front of her. This went on for a bit as I kinda looked her over since talking was kinda limited for the time being. I noticed that she had a look as though she just had got up off the couch and threw her paperwork in a bag, some cloth bag, and just came to do the work. I seemed to be out of place with her "timeline" so to speak. I waited a bit and finally said "Thanks for taking the time to meet" She kinda smiled halfheartedly and I was gone. LOL
I was grateful that it was not a long trip to get there and left a bit "perplexed"

RE: Do you believe that social security will be available when you turn 65?

It is a system that has been going on for awhile, and I don't know how much you know about Social Security but what you get is determined by what you worked and put in. Granted!! I am not sure all of the numbers and calculations, I am not at that point in life. Interesting thing last night as I was reconfiguring a server backup and doing some scanning for virus rootkits at my CPA's firm. He and I were talking about a situation where a client had a group of illegal aliens working for him as "Independent ContractorS" and my CPA said "no" you can't do that, they are employees and have to have social security numbers. anyway, long story short, though they are putting FICA Social Security in they will never take it out, they can not. the Cards are fraudulent, so..... that times how many I don't know but it is not a drop in the bucket. There is money being put in there, as long as we can trust our government I think it should be ok.

RE: New York Writes New Gun Law Since The Tradegy That Killed Children and Teachers

I saw it too Mickey, I was in shock for days. it was very hard to process.

RE: New York Writes New Gun Law Since The Tradegy That Killed Children and Teachers

Because there is people creating "doubt" that is why. I hope you are not reading me wrong here. I know that 911 was not some elaborate conspiracy, but I brought it up because if someone can have doubt there than of course a smaller scale incident can be made to look like a conspiracy and if you read the post after one of mine there you have someone in the UK saying pretty much that. Don't shoot the wrong guy please.

RE: New York Writes New Gun Law Since The Tradegy That Killed Children and Teachers

Do you believe that 911 happened the way they say it did for the most part? If not then you believe that this government is capable of deceiving the entire world like a first class magician and more. OK. I don't know what you think. But if you do believe that then of course to think this is a conspiracy like some others would not be so far fetched. My first response is that it happened and they are not letting the information out yet, BUT, they need to now, too much time is passing and it has to be shared with the rest of us. Before this happened I made a thread about the man that opened fire in the Clackamas Town Center here about 15 miles away. They withheld some info at first and shut down a major Mall for at least a day.

That is a link, there was so many people that had pictures and videos, so many witnesses, but I do not see how this Connecticut shooing can be so secretive about any video or pictures. I do not understand that.
I am sure they will release more about it when they can.

RE: I have a question....

How far is he driving Okie???? is it over a 100 miles??

RE: New York Writes New Gun Law Since The Tradegy That Killed Children and Teachers

There are people that think the 911 attack was all staged as well. I don't but some do. I saw a few articles that people think this was not real, I wasn;t there. That would be pretty wild if it was actors.

RE: I have a question....

I think the other answer might be just rent a vehicle, I have done that before. How far is he driving?

RE: I have a question....

\
I agree, things do happen, sometimes if we push too hard it is a mess, if we become impatient we miss out on some wonderful things. I think I would just ask him straight up if he was going to be able to use it soon. And if I was getting some kind of excuses over and over I would simply say " What is it you suggest we do" And if there is no answer then at least you know you tried. I sure would not suggest you send him money to get it fixed, though I know there are people that do!! LOL.
I drove my truck a few 100 miles the other day and it was fine.

@OkieChic, How far are we talking about?

RE: New York Writes New Gun Law Since The Tradegy That Killed Children and Teachers

You will always be able to get one. But that is against the law one might say? So was Killing people. They do it even when you say they can not. And once it is not legal and the person has no documentation of having bought or for many registering the weapon. Well, that is just that much harder to find that individual.

The Tommy Gun. 1920's!! but look, they passed laws. People will find a way if they have the compulsion to have it. And with the size of this Country and the way it is layed out you just can not rid the USA of Guns. And the attempt will only bring a bigger conflict and bloodshed.
Also like I said earlier, there will be no law to register it because it is illegal, Maybe then there will have to be a laws that allows the "authorities" to enter a home unannounced to safeguard the "Danger" The next thing you know they have built a fence around you and called it a safer life. I call that Prison. Talk is cheap, real life happens. this is not just some small gesture, this is a time that USA citizens will have to be very careful how they proceed. And for those that just read headlines and react then live their life it has not anywhere near the same effect.

Firing the 1921 Thompson

The perceived popularity of submachine guns such as the Thompson with violent gangsters in the 1920s and 1930s was one of the main reasons given for passage of the National Firearms Act by the United States Congress in 1934. One of its provisions is that all owners of any fully automatic firearm were required to register them with the predecessor agency of the modern Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). The law also placed restrictions on the possession, transfer, and transport of the weapons. For example, North Carolina restricts fully automatic weapons except for soldiers, law enforcement, and merchants with a permit who need them to defend their business.

RE: Who Can write a Letter of Invitation....to Support a Visa Application ?

if I remember correctly at that time I had no problem getting in but after that I had the extension and I was staying with a prominent family there on their compound. They were very well versed so I was not to concerned, I will admit that I have been taught pretty strictly about holding onto my passport so when the Maid went to the office there to take care of everything I was a bit nervous. But she was not just a maid, she was much more to the family than that and was very trustworthy. The family also had members working in the Travel business as well. But never mind all that, sounds like you are doing well with your venture and hope all goes very well for you Andy.

RE: Who Can write a Letter of Invitation....to Support a Visa Application ?

I think I have just been fortunate not to run into these type, when I was in Pasay City the family I stayed with took care of my extension for my VISA there. Most other Countries except France back in 89 I always had the VISA taken care of before hand, in France we were one day to early before the change in Policy and had to go very far back in to Spain to the American Consulate to have the VISA corrected.

RE: why are men so afraid to commit ?

I was being a bit of a cad in that previous post, but on a serious note I have been one to commit to a point that it almost brought me down to a point that many there is no return, Though I refrained in many of the things my ex wife did that was self destructfull and unfaithful to me I chose to work with her through that period. I thought for some time we had really done well. It was a sad and numbing day when I had to disconnect. Point being I have not had an issue with commitment. since that time I have not met anyone that either was compatible or willing to work through some of the small stuff that is usually there in some form. I think that knowing what is acceptable in both is sometimes the key to a realistic long term relation that chances to endure are much higher.

RE: why are men so afraid to commit ?

I think in this case it is a phobia or just a fear of mmmmm, somethin' scary
uh oh

Fake embassies??? what country did you see that in? I never saw that before. Even in the Philippines I never saw that one.

RE: RC Jets

When I was younger, like in the 70's and late 60's my Father used to do a lot of flying to places like the beach and some remote areas that were not easily accessible with a car. He would let me take the wheel and pilot the planes from time to time. But I was never certified at any level. It is a lot of fun to fly though. Later he got caught up in flying helicopters until the cost was just too much of a waste, he had to cool his jets so to speak.

well, did you look at the link? I think it might be a catcopter though.
Maybe you can make some videos of your jet in flight!!

RE: RC Jets

Yes!! I have a RC Panasonic. I watch NetFlix on it. That's about all. I have some early rubber band driven Drones that are equipped with "Cat" AntiPersonel droppings. It is not used though as I live in a pretty good neighborhood.

This is the newer version. I don't have this one Ali.

Thanks for sharing that stimulating guitar work. You know, he starts off with a somewhat Classical on steel string and plays some scales and likes to arpeggiate. But then he plays over hand as though it was a Dulcimer and plays it in a percussive manor. Hitting and tapping the body of the guitar to produce the percussive rhythms. Then he also uses a style by Eddy van Halen did by playing the strings with both hands and pulling off the string to make it ring over and over as the distance is changed to create more arpeggations. Lots of great musicians out there! Thanks.

RE: Does America need more gun control laws?

Not that it will always be this way, but the USA has very much history that guns of all sorts have been a part in our lives here. Maybe in a futuristic world where monetary motivations and power is not so sought after we will all live in a more peaceful existence. Simply reading through these threads and seeing the conflict that exists between people of all countries on various matters and the desire to step into others lives and tell them what type of people they should date and what they should believe in and how they should exist and how each should fend for themselves and what they should do to live in a safe existence and at the same time provoke so many to argue by name calling and insults, well, until then it seems that we all have a lot of things to learn to get to that point. I've said it before and I will again. It is not so bad here, if it was not for the influence of readily gained "information" and a bunch of "experts", I think that these arguments would not be so escalated with such ease.
peace
