Most men are afraid to commit because our governments here in the U.S.A. tax-penalize marriage and our illustrious president/santa obama hasn't yet ordered the federal and state governments to pay for the weddings and honeymoons yet, or guaranteed food stamps for the new wage earning or retired now couples. Eh, what do I know.....
Perhaps those who are afraid to commit are the ones who know that making a committment is isn't a joke. They take committing seriously so they hold off so that they don't hurt someone. That's how I look at it.
Why settle for someone that you don't find as a soulmate? No one's perfect but I can't blame anyone for wanting to search the world over for someone who they can connect with on all levels instead of only one or two.
2intrigued: Some men are afraid to commit because someone better might come along.
Really! I think we, men around my age, are just afraid of a potential fiscal cliff ahead. Not me though. I'm looking for a woman who, among other things, is smart, beautiful, athletic, and very very generous.
I don't think it's us who are affraid to commit. Men are by nature the aggressors. We can tell if things aren't right. Do u really want to commit to this guy is the question. That mean leaving the 5 other guys behind. No more back up dates. No more "well I'm not into him, I know he likes me but he buys me things." He's gone. No more guy friends period... Nothing that would make him jealous. He is the only person you will ever need. Then show him that continually. Stop comparing him to reality tv shows. Look within yourself for validation, not him. Try standing in a mirror for 15 seconds without turning away. It's all on u sweetie. It always has been.

I'm not afraid to commit once I know who I have been with and believe you me the door swings both ways on this issue lot of ladies back out too. It all depends if the guy or gal is ready too commit!.
So just for the hell of it, I Googled "Why are men afraid to commit?" I seriously do not have the YEARS required to read everything I found! And to be honest, it is all over the map! So many different reasons, hypothesis, guesses, rants, psychoanalitical postulations, Oprahisms, Dr. Philisms, he said/she said's,...and the list goes on.
I could try and get all philosophical and/or witty here, but I won't. I will simply say this,...not all men are afraid of committment. I know that I am not.
Granted, I really did want to escape the last time I was comitted, but I eventually realized that if I just "behaved" the hospital staff would eventually remove the straight jacket and once again let me walk the streets!

I simply can't figure out why men won't commit to me.
I look after their needs so well...by calling and texting them dozens of times a day just to say "How are you going?". I look after their health by cooking them nothing but tofu and lima beans. I make them watch "Feel Good" chick flicks and gardening shows so they don't have stress in their lives from silly 'ol sports shows. I'm all about conservation and therefore shower only once a month, which saves so much money...
I'm quite a Catch and I simply don't know why all of my dates go running and screaming in the other direction.
