LOVE IS BLUE

My love is deep
My love is blue
It's tender feelings
When I'm with you

It's hand in hand
And cheek to cheek
It's soft and warm
And never bleak

My love is deep
My love is blue
It's coloured that way
When I'm not with you

Love is blue.......

GETTING MARRIED

The biggest decision you'll make in your life
Is when you decide to become husband and wife
There are no guarantees when you sign on the line
That the future will be all red, red roses and wine

There'll be days that are wonderful, days that are bad
Days full of loving and days you'll feel sad
Good times and bad times and days in between
Days made in heaven and those unforeseen

So be good to each other each day you wake up
And after an argument, kiss and make up
Then one thing you'll find that just can't be denied
You'll be making a promise to stay side by side

As you enter your marriage a world will unfold
Of wishes and dreams and hopes set in gold
A house full of laughter, a home full of love
And maybe some babies with luck from above.....

Anyone for Tennis??

While watching the tennis last Monday,
I espied a peculiar view,
Of a pretty-faced buxom young damsel,
With three where there ought to be two.

But don't be misled or mistaken,
Or do let the facts misconstrue,
For the place where there ought to be air airspace,
Was where she hid 'ball number two'.

While I watched I expressed a small worry,
Should 'ball number two' ever get lost,
But was told by the voice of authority,
"The wrong one will never get tossed"!.

So don't hang around or come looking,
For the one with the three and not two,
For you're sure to become disappointed,
When you find that it just isn't true.

About this poem:
This was written many years ago about a girl on the tennis court who, when serving, always stuck the second tennis ball down the front of her tennis shirt. One day I yelled out to her "don't toss the wrong one" and she replied "the wrong one will NEVER get tossed" to which we all laughed and laughed. So I sat down and wrote this funny little poem and she became one of my best friends...

.......CRANKY PEOPLE.......

Cranky people, hardened hearts, cold and stern and rigid,
Do they hide some awful secret, maybe that they're frigid?
Are they soft and warm inside but just can't show affection?
Is it that they keep their feelings hidden from detection?
Do they ever want to change but do not know a way?
So outwardly they seem so harsh but inwardly they pray.
Cranky people, do they know, there's other ways to be?
That a smile is always welcome and there's never any fee.
One wonders would it hurt too much their lifestyle set, to bend,
Or do they think the price too high for them to condescend?
Cranky people, hardened hearts, will they ever change?
Alas, perhaps, to themselves they think,
It's others who are strange.....

About this poem:
This poem was written by me in about 1975 about an old farmer, a neighbour, who used to always wander up and down the road tending to his property and in all the time I lived there I can honestly say I never ever saw him smile, such a shame.....
