Still Free to a Good Home

Looking for happiness, looking for love,
Looking for someone with help from above,
Seeking a partner who's loving and kind,
Seeking that someone to be on my mind.

Where are those people who just have it all,
That know how to party and just have a ball?
The people who have that most wonderful way,
Who can make you feel happy and brighten your day.

I'm looking for someone to love and admire
To share all life's pleasures and set me afire.
Where have they gone to, where can they be?
Perhaps they're not looking for someone like Me!

TENNIS ANYONE

While watching the tennis last Monday
I espied a peculiar view,
Of a pretty-faced buxom young damsel
With three where there ought to be two.
But don't be misled or mistaken
Or do let the facts misconstrue,
For the place where there ought to be airspace
Was where she hid ball number two.
While I watched I expressed a small worry
Should ball number two ever get lost,
But was told by the voice of authority
The WRONG one will NEVER get tossed.
So don't hang around or come looking
For the one with the three and not two,
For you're sure to become disappointed
When you find that it just isn't true.

About this poem:
There used to be a girl at tennis who always put the second tennis ball down her front whilst serving, not seen so much these days as modern girls tend to tuck the second ball into their pants!

tHe EnD oF tHe WorLD

Gee, we only have two days left to go
For the end of the world as what we know,
We're told from sources all around
That the world is about to go to ground.
Well let me see if it's my last meal
I want it to be a great big deal.
I'll indulge in lots of calories true
And eat till my face turns a bright shade of blue.
I'm throwing a party for family and friends
And enjoy the best right up to the end.
If we're supposed to all go up in smoke
We'll swan around and have a joke.
How many armageddons have we lived through before
I'm sure if I counted I'd be a bore.
So with all that said and mind at ease
Back to the planning so it will be a breeze.
Let no-one say I was not well prepared
To have a good laugh at the ones who are scared!
Eat, drink and be merry for the season is nigh
And I wish all who care a loving good-bye....

TRIBUTE TO A DYING FRIEND

Attended a funeral today of a friend,
A memorable character right to the end.
Can't imagine him not being 'round any more,
It's hard to believe he'll not be at my door.
I heard at the funeral a story so true
Of an old naval buddy who came to pay due
Who slept on the floor 'side the hospital bed
Until his friend finally was pronounced dead.
The depth of his loyalty just ran so deep
A beautiful tribute forever we'll keep.

~~~~~~~F~L~O~A~T~I~N~G~~~~~~~~
By Buffybear 27.9.1979
I just want to float on the current of life
not bucking the waves or the flow
Just blending with ease with the crowd and the strife
and go where the tide wants to go
I don't want to stand on the corner and shout
"Come everyone listen to me"
For opinions are only the smallest of seeds
and take time to grow into great trees
When I feel the warmth of the sunshine
and look all around me and see
That put in the proper perspective
no-one is better than me
Then I can feel strong and determined,
when someone starts rocking the boat
Staying calm I can always remember
the aim's not to sink but to float
When the going gets rough and the spray's in my face
and I just feel like quitting the whole human race
I just think of the flow of the water and tide
and question how strongest survivors survive
By drifting along with the current
not bucking the waves or the flow
And by taking each day as it comes floating by
giving thanks to the Lord that they're free and alive
That's how it should be, I know.....
WHAT IS LOVE??
Love is friendship that has caught fire.
It is quiet understanding, mutual confidence, sharing and forgiving.
It is loyalty through good and bad times.
It settles for less than perfection and makes allowances for human weaknesses.
Love is content with the present, it hopes for the future and it doesn't brood over the past.
It's the day-in, day-out chronicles of irritations, problems, compromises, small disappointments, big victories and working toward common goals.
If you have love in your life, it can make up for a great many things you lack.
If you don't have it, no matter what else there is, it's not enough.
MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE
I wish you all a Merry Christmas and I hope you take the time
Just to contact someone lonely, to say you're on my mind
It doesn't take much planning, to just pick up the phone
And ring to say Merry Christmas, are you all alone?
I'm just about to do just that and ring someone I know
I hope you too can spread the love and all give it a go...
MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR 2012
Have a good one..... Buff
Heartaches and Roses
You bring me heartaches and roses, I can't tell them apart
You're just breaking my heart right in two
And when you say that you love me, I just doubt every word
'Cause I know that you're not being true.
I know that when you come near me I just tingle inside and
I hope that you feel that way too
But when friends say they see you, it just tears me apart
When they say that you're not being true.
Heartaches, roses, what can I do, heartaches, roses I'm so
in love with you
I know that some day you'll leave me and I'll wait until then
'Cause I'll cry when you say that we're through
And when you don't say you love me I'll just die every time
'Cause I know that I'm still in love with you....
###Who Will Love You When You're Old and Grey?###
Who will love you when you're old and grey?
Who will love you when your looks fade away?
Who will take that extra time
To tell you that you're doing fine?
It's not the hardest task to bear
To work out just who will be there,
It will be those who you call friend
That will love you till the very end.
...........PICTURE ON THE WALL.............
His smile shines from the picture
He cannot see me near
His look is one of happiness
My voice he cannot hear
His ways I well remember
His actions very clear
When no-one is a-watching
I shed a silent tear
He looks as through a window
Maybe perhaps he sees
If prayer could bring him back to me
I'd get down on my knees
By looking at his picture
And thinking well at length
And knowing how deep was our love
Perhaps I can draw strength
A picture is a sweet keepsake
But never can fulfill
The emptiness left when a loved one's lost
And it never, never, will.
* * * * Fragrance of Blossoms * * * *
Little boys sleeping, no noise at all,
House is so quiet, shadows so tall,
A fragrance of blossoms wafts thru the night air,
The song of a cricket, he sings without care,
Silence abounds blending colours of night,
Trees forming shadows from blue of moonlight,
Stars twinkle brightly on grass forms the dew,
Moon is ascending, as ever on cue,
Peace and tranquility fill every niche,
The world seems so beautiful, aren't we all rich?
