For You Dad

You've been gone for four years come this July,
and it's like you have never left.
I think that's because every time I look in the mirror,
I see you.

Dad, you used to laugh at me,
and say you just wait, John.
When I have passed through the threshold,
I will still be there smiling at you,
every time a reflection crosses your way.

Well Dad, every time I think of you,
I think of all the advice you have given me.
And without all that wisdom,
I don't think I would have been able to bring up all four of my children myself,
without thinking of something you had said to me at one time or another.

I wonder if you read in heaven,
I know I always have this picture of you sitting in the living room.
You with a book up to you in front of the living room window,
and smoking cigarette after cigarette :)
And drinking all your coffee.

Remember all those nights I would come over to watch TV with you,
and we would keep each other company
as Mom was sleeping and Dayna was sleeping,
as she had to get up earlier for work than me?

You and those John Wayne movies, and Clint Eastwood.
Oh yeah, and I really liked romance movies much better.
But since you were such a John Wayne fan,
I never spoke of other movies that I liked :)

Well, when you had alzheimers,
I knew it as the laughing and jumping at your favorite scenes seemed to stop,
and your answers were like you were alone.
But, Dad, I was always there for you,
even when you didn't think I was.

Mom will be there pretty soon,
so you better straighten up if you're not :)
Yes Dad, I'm an ordained minister now.
I know that you didn't believe in God,
but a great creator of everything,
but I know you would be proud.

Love,
Your son, John

PS: I still will pay you back that last payment on the Bradley GT...just have some patience :) Hahaha

About this poem:
I had the greatest dad in the world that anyone could ask for. He always gave good advice, and always had a positive outlook on life. We had our differences like any other father and son, but never let that hold us back from having a close father-and-son relationship. How did I do, Dad? :)

To thy Celtic Lady on a Journey with No End

I once knew,
and still know,
this woman,
not only known as Lady,
but a true lady of the word,
in every aspect.

I guess I was just,
one of the lucky ones,
and privileged ones,
to see how true love,
from someone's heart,
can make everyone happy.

I know she has tears in her eyes,
when it rains,
but she is like the sunshine,
and the next day,
all those tears dry up.

She's not a myth,
but if I didn't tell you that,
you would think she was.

Is there much more to know about her?
Yes, there is!
But, you wouldn't have the time to find out.

So, let this be known,
that there is a Lady out there,
that is, as I said.

The night is cold and lonely

The night is cold and lonely,
when you're gone.
Sometimes I'm still awake,
to greet the dawn.

It's only in my dreams,
that I can hold you near.
And all those empty feelings,
just seem to disappear.
Two warm entwining bodies,
merge together into one.
Come kiss me softly,
as we rise to meet the sun.

Then I open my eyes,
with those feelings still inside.
Just another sweet dream,
and you're still gone.

Life

I was woking one day,
and with fresh eyes I could see
a world of wonder
of many things that were new to any eyes opening.

I didn't know what was,
but knew it was a fresh start of something new,
I saw faces with funny looks
and I wondered why their eyes faced me.

I started to see, and make sense,
as I thought but didn't know
it would end up as it has, a reason unknown
but for a reason that was meant to be.

I see now it was a story of a person that was mixed up,
and saw what it all meant... Life.

THE CHILD: AN UNFORGOTTEN ROSE

THE CHILD: AN UNFORGOTTEN ROSE

Just because a rose dies of natures way
It doesn’t mean that the beauty of the rose is gone or forgotten
She is still there, with her beauty in the eyes that have seen her
You have seen a beautiful rose with your eyes
And for this she shall always be alive in your heart
So don’t be saddened; for all of nature’s wonderful beauties
must revolve to keep the hands of time from coming to an end

TO MY DEAR LITTLE PRINCESS

TO MY DEAR LITTLE PRINCESS

Your eyes so bright with new life
Your mind so fresh with new ideas
Your memory beginning to make
Your ideas beginning to take.

You’re the world’s new beginning of life
The world will see new through you
You’re who I left to see what I haven’t,
and to add new beginnings for others as I have.

You’re my new little princess of life
You’ll have my eyes to help you at
those times of darkness and distress
when you can no longer see clearly
I hope you can be something other than me
Your ideas will make us more…

I’ve heard people say that
life is but a twinkle among the stars
But through your heart there will be
many new worlds to be explored.

Life will go on as every day brings a new beginning
You’re my new little princess of life and my love for you
will live on through all new worlds of life
So carry on that world of life to a new beginning
And there will always be us.

Love Always,
Daddy
