Light reaching

Sadness is the seed of happiness.
Feed it with the attention it needs and nurture it with a tender heart.
Break its hard shell and it can be transformed from a small buried spec into a light reaching life.

Found what was lost

I found my heart tonight
It's right were I left it
It has been a while
Yet it is still beating

Some say, I lost my mind
I say, better than my soul
Why deny what is real

Grow your own

I can not remember the smell of happiness.
Having tasted It once, makes me hungry.
The hunger can not be satisfied by food, I tried.
It's nutrition fattens the heart and soul.
Fresh out at the produce isle.
I have no choice but to grow my own.

Looking Forward

The prettiest bird is one in flight.
No guilted cage can make thee more beautiful.
Thank you for nesting on my tender bough.
The wind of love has bent me but not broken me.
Each winter's rest awakens me to the light of my seed's future.

Sleep interrupted

Sunday you woke me up
Monday you kept me up with your charm
Tuesday you went for a jog and I waited for your return
Wednesday I burned the midnight oil, figuring out a way to help you
Thursday I couldn’t sleep wondering where you were
Friday I couldn’t sleep wondering where you were, while you were beside me
Saturday my self preservation took over, good night.

Sweet Fruit

The cherry closest to the sun may be the sweetest
But the top rung on the ladder is the steepest
One can have his fill with feet firmly planted on the ground
If one waits too long, there may be none to be found
After more than two decades of standing on tip toes
Calluses are formed preventing the vision of your woes
The reality of your hunger has been the driving force to sup
Your illusion of the lower branches is for them to help you up

Thank You God

The poetry is in the being, not in the ryhm.
Although, at times its hard on the knees, I love being a Dad.
Thank you God for the wonderful gift you gave me, my son.

My Garden of Eden

Love in a different decade, two to be exact.
If it were only days, maybe we can make the pact.

Heart and mind are orchards apart.
Words and emotions have bruised the heart.

We bore the sweetest fruit.
More precious than any black bird’s loot.

In the next world, I pray we are a pair of pears pollinated by the same breeze.
If not picked by the same hand, At least I would relive life’s biggest tease.

Vision of another version

You see me as loud
That’s because you don’t want to listen
You see me as ugly
That’s because your eyes are closed
You see me as short
That’s because I put you on a pedestal
You look at me
But you do not see me

About this poem:
Sorry, I needed to say it. I know many have been here and some may have said it better, yet I needed to say it just the same.

You are not yet two.

When I ask you for a kiss, you hit the keys on your toy piano.

When I ask you for a hug, you dance to the tune you just created.

When you are in my arms and I’m not looking, you put your wet open mouth on my cheek and your arms around my neck.

You are not yet two

Choices

Choices

A tug of war between heart and mind
Not knowing the best till the hind

Once gone wrong, we're not sure where to place the blame
So we point to the gut for not joining the game

On the occasion when things go right
We pat ourselves on the back for not giving up the fight

Oh, the poor soul who chooses not to choose
For he has the greatest prize to lose
