Lilly Gone

You had a chance to to be a Lilly
Yet you choose to be a weed
And you wonder why
Yes you wonder why
It so hard for you to breathe

You had a chance to feel the sun
Yet you stay hidden in the shade
And you ask yourself
Yes you ask your self
Why your always so afraid

You surround yourself with bushes
That hide you from the sun
They tell you that its for the best
And for now your having fun

But who will be your water
When the drought sets in again
And who will be your shelter
When your beaten by the wind

Who will warm your tattered leaves
When the shadows swallow you
And who will be your company
When there's nothing you can do

Who will care to trim your stem
Who will plant your seed
You had a chance to be a Lilly
But you chose to be a weed

Waking Up

The night softly whispers to my dreams
let her free,
she belongs to the day that tugs at her eye lids
The day that cracks her lips and draws that finally goodbye to the twinkling twilight dance that plays in her mind
Warm rays that sneak through the cracks in the window shades
Sunlight on both knees begging for a smile

Part her lips and free her breath,
so that she can wake to the new day
that sits patiently on her pillow

Her smile
Her tender submission to the morning hours
that wait with gifts of unknown wonders

I have scene beauty and I have seen perfection
But nothing can break my stride like her smile in the morning
Nothing can move my world like she can when she releases her first words upon the new day
How she holds the sun in her eyes
and let's the warm glow gives birth to every moment afterwords

Off And Running

Make this a short goodnight,
my sweet delight,
I have miles and miles to go.
I have dreams to sell
to drunken angels
that fly on paper wings.

The scent of October wind
and sweetened gin,
have taken home on me.
Dragging me back to dim lit bars,
well placed cars, and places I shouldn't be.

This is only good night its not good bye,
have I given you any reason to doubt,
that I'll be back before the stars
and the street lights all go out.

La Petite Morte

That look you have.
Those gun shot stare,
never gonna forget this,
blood diamond sparkle,
type of eyes.

That perfect slit
that hides your tongue.
Red cherry massacre
whispering my name.

Taking All that’s Taken

Can I duct tape up your broken heart
so it can beat again tonight
Peroxide words drip off my tongue
will we ever get it right

I need to break these taken fingers
they explore around your skirt
I try to hide these broken wings
hidden tucked beneath my shirt

I’m dying to just to die with you
I need to inhale your exhale
Back I sit and watch and wait
That ship has finally sailed

The salty taste of soft regret
The ballet of our lips
Temptation in its purest form
Pressed against my finger tips

Early mornings great sunrise
Sings songs I shouldn’t know
My heart it whispers not to leave
My mind is screaming go

You’re a virus in the air I breathe
Still I take a deeper breath
You’re a pistol pressed against my head
With open arms I welcome death

Did

Did you hear my words
The ones that I said
While I was trying to direct
Our way into bed
Where you can rest your bones
And I can rest my head
After making your heart rate
Go sky high

Did you feel my touch
The ones that I made
While I was trying to explain
How we need to get laid
How much better you'll feel
If this all escalates
And you let all of those feelings
Go bye bye

Each Time is our First Time

Look at the way our lips still touch
like virgins hands pressed in prayer
the way your dress sheds right off
is it still a wonder why I always stare

Your perfume lingers perfectly
the scent of you coats my lungs
tasting every word you've spoke
the tango of our tender tongues

I worship every curve you have
every bend across your satin skin
the very flesh that hugs your bones
the soul that burns from deep within

melt with me inside this moment
burn with me beneath this moon
lets memorise each passing hour
moments like this end too soon

Lost and Remembered

Kisses
&
Wishes
&
Skin that shakes
From touches
that remind me
of
Lines we spoke
and
Times we joked
About being angels
That guarded
The broken hearted
And moments
We spent
Under endless skies
Lost in the gaze
Of each others eyes

Cloud Dancing

I eager for the day
when the wind brushes your cheek
and calls you too dance.

When your feet follow the steps we made
with verbs and nouns
that dripped from our lips
and solidified on the hard Texas dirt.

When the breeze makes you dip and sway
as you spin my way.
I'll be here with my dancing shoes on
and a cloud I stole
that only plays your song.

Who

She wonders why it had to die
I wonder why she never cried
You can feel it start to creep
Now who will lay my soul to sleep

Who will take the best of me
to savor with the rest of me
Hold me to their chest and see
something better then a memory

Still I love her despite the wrong
But its to late because she's gone
I'll wonder why she had to leave
and when its ok for me to breathe

You loved the way they worshiped you
a burning church with empty pews
Your a steal guitar with out the blues
A walk through glass with out my shoes

She wonders if the ghosts will come
I know that I'll be one of them
Tell her my secrets to gain her trust
cut my stomach and spill my guts

Wind Torn

Wind torn tattered excuse of a heart
now moving ever so slightly in the breeze
Hanging from its line
remembering a time
when we both would melt like ice on a hot July day

Times that tell of movie theater kisses
and eyelash wishes
I wished that I could somehow stop time
but time kept moving on
And at some point it left me behind

I don't mean to sound ungrateful
This is way before you proved unfaithful
During a time
when I would count the freckles on your back
and create my own personal constellations
And make my own personal observations
about how I liked your hair
either up or down

Time kept moving on and so did you
Far past those days that made
love stories for our souls
and left us with just deep dark holes
Too dark to see what was left behind

Maybe its all for the best
And someday I'll be doing fine
But at the moment its seems as though
the only thing I have to show
Is a tattered heart hanging from a line

Sweet Release

The words you need to hear
Are trapped behind my teeth
My tongue tightly holding on to
emotions that confuse and excite
and flame and ignite
Causing explosions in my nerves
that shake my foundation

I slip into your smile
choke on the words that fill my mouth
I hold back to hold on
And I ask you now
Is that so wrong?
Because when I sing
I sing your song
And it sounds so good to me

These feelings that could pull my tears
Send them raining down against my smile
We both know its been a while
So don't be scared
Because if you need that sweet release
I'd cut my tongue and break my teeth
