After conferring with my son, his friends, and the Events Coordinator of the venue, I can now inform everyone of where we will be sozzling the night away!
Venue: The "Atrium Lounge" at the Intercontinental (yes, the beggars have switched names, previously the Hyatt Regency), in North Terrace.
It seems perfect for us because:
1. It is central, right in the heart of Adelaide
2. It is low key, and you can get as tizzied up as you like.
3. There is parking, enter through the Festival Centre, on King
William Street. The lift takes you straight to the walkway,
leading to the entrance of the hotel.
4. Tapas served to the wee hours.
5. Alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages available
6. There will be live music as in bands, so bring your dancing
feet!
7. Next door is the Casino, and you can enter it through the
walk-way outside the hotel entrance. So if we can't find you
after a while, we'll know where to find you!
8. Lastly, you can stay there that night if you like! By the
way, I have been given the name of someone to talk to, if we
have a group of 10 or more, they can give discount. No idea
what that equates with yet, but happy to speak to him if you
like. At that time of the year, the public might have the
upper hand!
Oh, and the time is set for 7.00pm.
I have sent the basic details of time and venue, to CS, who will add it to the top of the Event Page.

Well I think the problem is that they didnt do much publicity to tell the general public of the name change, I had heard of the name before christmas & also that the Hyatt had changed its name there.
But the location is superb , great access for both public transport & taxis. also exceptional car parking with the Casino.
If they have a set Menu are we able to get hold of a copy incase it makes life easier ordering in advance for them

You don't need to order Tapas in advance. I checked. That's the part that is a real plus!
But if anyone wants a sit-down meal before hand, I can find out about that.

I think that closer to the time, if we have numbers who definitely want a sit down meal first, then let me know, and I can book for us, and post the menu link for perusal.
We can certainly fine tune all this as we go.
If everyone prefers to have the formal meet for a later time, say 7.30pm, just let me know, so I can inform CS, who will make the necessary changes.

I used to Venere must find out if they still work there. I remember when it first opened in 1985 they had strict security measures on staff especially with friends & acquaintences , but thats changed over the years.

That was unforgiveble, they were about 80 years old as it was. All part of it being the grand ballroom when the railway station was completed.
It gave the casino a certain class & quality that made it feel somewhat special
