Oh, no Lou. You will welcome him just the same. How exciting.

Boy, it brings me back a few years to when I found out bubs' gender, a boy. Suddenly I felt such a HUGE responsibility bringing a son into the world. Ya know, to make sure he treats women with respect, and learn to cook etc!

Enjoy every moment, starting from now.yay

We're not talking Alaska, kizzy. This is Adelaide!laugh

Here is some info, now that you've scared everyone s@#%less!doh

"The mean maximum temperature recorded at the South Australian Regional Office (Kent Town) for June 2009 was 16.5°C, which is 0.4°C above the long-term mean maximum temperature. Last year, in contrast, was 0.9°C above the long-term June mean maximum temperature.

The hottest maximum temperature recorded in the Adelaide metropolitan and hills area was 19.3°C on the 29th at both Adelaide (Kent Town) and Noarlunga."

My son's father was dressed in pink girly babywear for the first 12mths of his life. Not that he'd have had a clue, of-course, but poor guy, looking back at his photos!

His mother had used the ol' ring on the string, 'pendulum' trick, that convinced her beyond a shadow of a doubt, that the the baby was gonna be a girl.grin

Looking back now, the poor guy never had a chance with parents like his!laugh

Larf75: Wow. That would be great Ross. We really do have such a great time.

Hi Larf,

You had kindly offered to help, and I thank you.

Except that I just tried to email you, but I'm blocked.confused

Then I tried to send you a flower. Blocked.dunno

Now is as good a time as any, so I will say this to everyone here:

If there is anything you need me to do for the June Get together, please let me know. I volunteered to get this Event thread up and running. That done, I will take more of a back seat for a while,( lest yet someone else accuses me of doing this for attention. rolling on the floor laughing )

I do want to share this with you all, however:

Yesterday, I was placed in the very awkward position of reporting 'remember60'. He had started emailing CS'ers on this thread (and it got back to me), telling them that in the past I had continued to block him, despite his many attempts at being friendly towards me. I ended up emailing him to stop such communications, that I don't know him from Adam, and that I would send a copy to CS for their records.

Looking back, I think his sole purpose for entering the thread, was to stir the pot because of some grudge he held against me, of which I was totally oblivious. It's a reminder that this is just not simply cyberspace, that real people, a few with possibly disturbed thoughts, are out there. I'm sorry to say that this person was a local.

A pal of mine here, told me I should have left the man alone, and not 'pounce' on him on the thread. I disagreed, as I certainly had not 'pounced' until I found that he ignored all my posts that tried to make light of his concerns for the get together, instead he revealed some personal agenda against me instead. In the end, I found it unncessarily embarrassing at many levels, personally, and for others here trying to enjoy some chill out time together.

I had not wanted to jump ship, once the thread was started. In fact, truth be known, once the banter got going, it really helped to distract me from the personal/work issues that had led me to want to take a break from CS for a while, so I am really grateful that you all helped me to achieve that. Anyway. thanks for ploughing through all this. It's been a cathartic start to my morning. doh

I posted a few examples of venues, and what they offered. I did this a couple of days ago, but there have been no comments made so far. When you get a chance, please do read the info, and let your comments here, so that a venue can be firmed up.

Thanks. Blimey, it's 6.33am already. Time for my cuppa and some OJ.dancing

Ooroo for now.wave

venere08: Getting on track about venues:

I've been looking at some options, give a certain person bailed out of helping with this task, dammit. If I present everyone with some options as examples of what we can have, keeping in mind, we have to avoid places that require booking fees etc., it will get discussion going and firm something up.

Also, do we want to have a meal at said venue, you know, where we each order our own.

Use search engine to look at :

1. Stag Hotel Rundle Street, in the East End, right in the city. There is live music on the Saturday night, I think some kind of night clubby thing. I will check it out, maybe call them.
The EAst End buzzes on Saturday night.

2. Arkaba Hotel, cnr Glen Osmond and Greenhill Rds - It is 5 min from the city, and just off the freeway when you drive in from Melbourne, for our interstaters. Lots of cheap accommodation along that strip. It's a huge venue, with lots of different sections, plus enormous dance floor with live band Saturday night.

3. Lion Hotel, Melbourne Street, Nth Adelaide for drinks plus live band. A meal can be had for those who want to eat. Outdoor areas within the premises and on the street, with heating undercover.

These are just examples, but it's something for us to work with.

KISS

Keep it Simple Seriously!

All we need is somewhere that serves Alcohol, coffee and water, if they have a tapas or snack style menu all the better.. that worked perfectly at the Melbourne do.. It does not need to get bigger than Ben Hur.. just name a place and we can roll with it. Ideally it needs to have a quiet part to it so we can all chat first and get over the butterflies and ask all of those embarrassing questions and tell all of the same stories we have told on-line and be able to hear each other!.

Once the liquid lubricant has taken effect, a proportion of people will want to head out and party, some will bail out, some others will just tag along for the very easy company, at that point if anyone is hungry.. grab a pie floater or a pizza or whatever .. we are all adults.. This is in my humble opinion the best option for Saturday night.. if anyone wants to do a "dinner" then they can organise that by either posting the details on the thread themselves or by emailing the invitees individually..

I am sure given that most of us appear to be coming from interstate we can have a quiet recovery breakfast at the Bay on Sunday morning and then a long lunch Sunday and do it all again Sunday night .. as it is a long weekend! and they wont be leaving until Monday surely to head back to Victoria etc! wink

The last thing we need is to try and stage an event for 5000 when in reality we are only getting 20..

Just keep it simple. Young and Jacksons is a fairly modern, centrally located pub, (opposite the main train station), with a nice Tapas bar on the second floor, separate smokers garden on the roof and it was the perfect venue for the intial meet up in Melbourne.. I am sure Adelaide has dozens like this?? What about the Brittania? Crown and Anchor? Just two name the only two I can remember ever being thrown out of... the other 10000000 I cant remember being thrown out of barf

Hi MBR. Thanks for passing some comment. Oh, yes. KISS is the way to go. I never for one moment wanted to start 'organising an event for 5,000' when it could just be 10-20.uh oh Of-course, as I said earlier on this thread, it might just be the people that we have signed up up to now, and no more, we'll still have a good time. Still, I'm not much of a dictator, so I do seek everyone's opinion first. An easy thing for me to do, don't ya think?grin

Well, if I hear nothing more from anyone else, then yeppers, I will select a place that sill allow for any growing numbers.

I've never been to Young and Jackson's. As for somewhere that has some quiet for us to get to chit chat first, yes, I thought of that, and well...a quiet area on a Saturday night??? Hmmm...fat chance, but will try!!!laugh

Again, thanks though..cheers

Tell blonde ill buy her a drink with an olive branch in it Its called a martini with a twist, very dry not to be stirred under any circumstances !

Hey kizzy and bj, too. Both definite maybes, how fabulous!

Well, in that case, it's almost a done deal then. When I read the two of you might be hitting town, I thought immediately that we need to step it up a notch. Bring on the bling!shimmy

Check out hotelrichmond.com.au

I'm waiting on a call from the lassie to whom I recently sold my investment unit. She is a function organiser at the Hotel Richmond.
It will give us a touch of class(natch!), and the possibility of lower decibel talking environment! Plus, it should allow us to cater for 20+ people(who knows what the '+' will be???:)uh oh

Check out their wwebsite, cos it looks like IT could be the one. Centrally located, walk to the casino later, yadda yadda... party

P.S. ...MBR, by 'cater' I mean, to be able to fit us in comfortably. Not menu organising OK?laugh

On that note, they serve what they call 'lounge food', which is great, so if you're feeling peckish, you're saved! applause
