Good to see you made it home safely, Daniel. We were glad to see you there and Jackie says, thanks for the kind words - and what you said about her also applies to you.
Now that you know what our "back yard " looks like, you'll have to come back for a little longer float trip some time!
She is very welcome.. gotta say that back yard of yous is a very nice place, and maybe next time I come there if conditions are right, we can brave the rapids on the next float trip..
Sorry I haven't checked in sooner, had some chores I had to catch up on, & then I had to take a nap. lol.
I had such a wonderful time yesterday at the picnic!!!! It was great meeting Daniel, Indyfella & Heatherhoney in person, ya'll (you too Jackie & Don) are a lot of fun to be with and I'm proud to call you my friend.
Don, Jackie THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING you two are the greatest!!!
I really enjoyed the float down the river Don and will start buggin' you for another ride in the fall when "Mother Nature" starts changin' her colors. I know it will be absolutely beautiful!!
Anytime you want to have a "mini" get together when Darlynda & anybody else can make it, count me in. If the weather's not too cold I'll bring my "super-soaker" & give you another good soakin' lol.
Must'a thought I was 16 instead of 60 yesterday the way I was runnin' around & actin' crazy, but my 60 year old body is feelin' it today!! I can hardly move!! I ache in places I didn't know I had to ache. Oh well, it was well worth it & I'd do it all again!! I think my tummy & cheeks hurt from all the laughin' I did & that's a good thing.
As soon as I get my pics back I'll send them to Heatherhoney & you so they can all be posted together.

Again, Jackie & Don thanks,
I'm just glad you didn't hit me with that water ballon
I think I got a few pics to pass along, once developed. First I want to see if they meet "standards and practices" for CS material. (which is friggin low)

Again, Jackie & Don thanks,
Anne, sweety, you have no idea how greatful we are to know that we're not the only ones whose butts are dragging a little bit today.
So glad you got to make it and, while there's a canoe seat reserved for you in the fall, if you'd like we can maybe do a short float before then. I think my little row boat will hold three people and a chihuahua and still have room for a small cooler with lunch and drinks if you're up for it?
Thanks again, sweety, for helping make our day a great one!

I wish I could've been there and met everyone... BUT...if you guys do decide to have a 'mini' get together...I would love to come as long as I have enough time to get arrangements made. I'm about to put my dogs through 'obedience' training, so maybe I'll be able to bring them along, instead of planning to leave them in the room...
One last bump on this thread just to send out a great big thanks to the fantastic folks who made Saturday such a special day. And a note to the ones who couldn't make it that they were sorely missed!
Hopefully the pics will be forthcoming sometime next week and they won't scare anyone away from future gatherings we might have.
As I mentioned, at this point we're still considering doing this again next year - probably in July - with considerably more advance notice than we gave this year. Difference being that most will be responsible for making their own arrangements and we'll have a potluck sort of picnic rather than the 'self-catered' affair we had this year. There are cabins (both "primitive" and "modern") available for rent in the park and all have a six person capacity, so it'll be quite easy to share expenses with others to cut down on the cost. When the time comes, we'll post the appropriate information for making reservations. Of course there are also regular camping sites in the park if you prefer to sleep under the stars.
Again, a great big thanks to Indy, Daniel, Anne, Heather and (most importantly!) Jackson for making it one of the best Saturdays I've ever had.
Have a good week everyone, it's time for me to go play with my oversized Tonka Toy and be a productive member of society!

Veering off topic... I don't know how you guys can drive that long at one time. That drive home was a long one. You've got to have a lot of patience out on the road.

(Just got in from Charleston, S.C.) In all truthfulness, Bob, it's much easier to do 10 - 11 hours in a big truck than it is to do 6 or 7 in a personal vehicle; The seats and suspension are designed for driver comfort - the seat in my truck, besides being air-ride, also has lateral travel and 3 separately adjustable lumbar supports as well as arm rests. With the view we have (being higher than most passenger vehicles) it's considerably less stressful than in a "four wheeler."
Not to say that what we do is easy - it does seem to take a special kind of person to make a life out of it - but (and the other truckers here can back me up) once you've been doing it long enough to become comfortable with it, it just kinda' fails to bother you much. (And if it does, you shouldn't be doing it! lol)
Maybe next year you can stay a little longer and take it a little easier on the way home? (I've already got your "official badminton cap" designed, just need to finish it up and get it to you. )
