Depression.

Does untreated depression cause brain damage?
The evidence affirms that depression truly is a biologically based disorder of the brain, and left unchecked, it may run a degenerative course that damages brain tissue in ways similar to other neurodegenerative diseases.

Who is at highest risk for depression?
Major depression is most likely to affect people between the ages of 45 and 65. “People in middle age are at the top of the bell curve for depression, but the people at each end of the curve, the very young and very old, may be at higher risk for severe depression,”.

What can happen if you don't treat depression?
Untreated clinical depression is a serious problem. Untreated depression increases the chance of risky behaviors such as drug or alcohol addiction. It also can ruin relationships, cause problems at work, and make it difficult to overcome serious illnesses.

the main reason of depression?
There's no single cause of depression. It can occur for a variety of reasons and it has many different triggers. For some people, an upsetting or stressful life event, such as bereavement, divorce, illness, redundancy and job or money worries, can be the cause. Different causes can often combine to trigger depression.

5 Common Cooking Methods That Are Surprisingly Unhealthy

Cooking involves lots of techniques but some aren't good for your health. Find out which ones.
Some cooking methods are not healthy.
Cooking involves various techniques and methods.A nutritionist revealed some facts that will startle you.She shared how some common methods are not good for health.
Cooking is nothing short of an art form. It involves so many ingredients and cooking techniques that we have a large canvas to paint a variety of culinary creations. Different cooking methods yield different meals with unique textures and flavours. Frying, boiling, steaming, sauteing, grilling - the list is endless when it comes to picking an option. While some techniques offer enticing flavours and convenience, others come with hidden perils that can compromise our health. Some cooking methods, despite being common, can have a negative impact on food as well as on our health.
Here're 5 Cooking Methods To Avoid:
1. Air Frying
Problem: Air frying, hailed as a healthier alternative to deep frying, promises crispy delights without the excessive oil content. However, beneath this seemingly guilt-free cooking method lies a hidden threat-trans fat. Unlike traditional deep frying, air fryers utilise circulating hot air to cook food, providing a similar texture with less oil. However, the use of certain oils can result in the production of trans fats, which pose a greater risk to our health. Also, air circulation may cause uneven cooking, leading to undercooked or overcooked portions.
Solution: Use those oils for coating your foods that won't produce trans fats. Keep checking the food in the fryer at regular intervals and toss if required for even cooking. And, of course, use your air fryer in moderation.
2. Grilling
Problem: Grilling can be a flavorful way to cook food. We all love the hint of smoke that our meals get from it. Grilled chicken, grilled paneer and grilles fish are some of our favourite snacks. But grilling at high temperatures and over an open flame can lead to the formation of potentially harmful compounds called heterocyclic amines (HCAs) and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). These compounds have been linked to some serious illnesses.
Solution: To prevent the risks, it is advisable to practice moderation. Use lean cuts of meat that are marinated in advance. Also, follow proper grilling techniques like preheating the grillers and turning food frequently to reduce charring.
3. Cooking in Non-Stick Pans
Problem: Non-stick pans have taken over all the kitchens of the world. They are convenient to use and let us enjoy healthy meals with less oil. But non-stick pans often have a coating of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), commonly known as Teflon. Overheating these pans or using metal utensils on them can cause the release of toxic fumes and particles.
Solution: To prevent the release of toxic substances, you must not heat non-stick pans at excessively high temperatures. It is also a good idea to use utensils that are specifically designed for non-stick cookware.
Besides these, there are more cooking methods that are not particularly healthy either. These are:
4. Microwaving:
Problem: Address potential concerns related to microwaving, such as nutrient loss, uneven heating, and potential exposure to harmful chemicals from certain containers.
Solution: Offer tips for safe microwave usage, including using microwave-safe containers, covering food to retain moisture, and avoiding excessive heating.
5. Overcooking:
Problem: Highlight the negative effects of overcooking food, such as nutrient loss, decreased flavour, and potential formation of harmful substances.
Solution: Encourage proper cooking times and temperatures, using timers, monitoring food during cooking, and opting for cooking methods that retain nutrients.
As cooking enthusiasts, it's natural to explore various cooking methods to unleash our culinary creativity. Link:NDTV Food

Bile...

By definition: bile is a yellow-green fluid produced by the liver of most vertebrates that aids the digestion of lipids in the small intestine. In humans, bile is primarily composed of water, produced continuously by the liver, and stored and concentrated in the gallbladder. After a human eats, this stored bile is discharged into the first section of their small intestine.

When people complain about others, they sometimes refer to the word bile in a negative sense ignoring the fact that bile is a necessary part of the digestion process.

Obesity and flights

While the average width of an airplane seat has been shrinking for decades, bodies are getting larger around the world, with experts predicting that over half of the global population will be overweight or obese by 2035.
This ultimately means that more and more passengers are likely to be finding it difficult to fit into airplane seats, and some may be hit in the pocket as a result.
Policies around plus-size travelers tend to vary from airline to airline. While a number, including United Airlines, require “customers who require extra seating” to buy an additional seat in advance, some refund the purchase if one or more seats are available after takeoff. However, there is no universal standard as such.
Different airlines have different guidelines. Some have no guidelines at all, meaning that even well-informed travelers can have trouble keeping up. Link:CNN

The chair draggers...

My neighbor is in her 80's and her son living with her is in his 60's. Originally from New Jersey, they would spend winters in Florida and summers at home. COVID changed their schedule and it looks like they are going to be here year-round.
I've only seen her 3 times and one of those times, paramedics had to escort her to emergency. Her son rarely comes out too. Usually, to check mail or to get groceries. He doesn't go far as he carries oxygen, usually by a portable machine slung over his shoulder with a nasal cannula and short tubing.
I know when they are up as I hear them 'bumbling around' as early as 5am. Banging doors or walls loud enough to wake me from a sound sleep. Usually, breakfast is around 7am. I know this as I can hear them scooting their wooden chairs on the tile floor. The chair dragging is intermittent, but it actually goes on all day. Sometimes, it sounds like they are rearranging furniture and pushing the dining table back and forth a few feet.
If you have experienc dragging a chair to the table in a few 'short bursts' you probably know the sound I'm describing.

I consulted a friend about offering them some self-adhesive felt pads they could stick on the bottom of the chair legs, but I'm told that's a bad idea and I sold just tolerate the dragging noises... at least I know they are alive!

Stay away from Medicine

All my dear blogger
It's not for those who are using medicine for major treatments or believe in medical treatment.
It's my idea and practice they we can avoid medicine by taking measures for our disease like pain anywhere in body.
First we have to look in our daily life that what we had eaten at night or in daytime that pain started after that. Very simple to avoid eating that particular dish.
Same like other thing happens in our daily life to avoid them and to get rid of the disease.
Hope positive comments to be written.

Update on my illness.

I self-diagnosed covid, but after going through all the symptoms, I am now under the impression, that what I have is a very bad cold. How do I know that?

Well.. Cold sores, or o*al herpes. They always present themselves when I have had a particularly bad cold, so the fact that BOTH my lips had them, it's pretty safe to say that I don't have covid. I'm just dealing with a monster of a cold. That type of cold that makes your voice turn into a croak, at times. I also have that extremely annoying cough, that just will not go away.

So yes - no corona for me this time, thankfully. Or.. Well, I MIGHT have it, just not Covid-19.

"But Philipsen, what do you mean when you say you might have corona?"

An excellent question. You see, although the common cold is usually caused by rhinoviruses, in 15% of cases the cause is a coronavirus. The human coronaviruses HCoV-OC43, HCoV-HKU1, HCoV-229E, and HCoV-NL63 continually circulate in the human population in adults and children worldwide and produce the generally mild symptoms of the common cold. The four mild coronaviruses have a seasonal incidence occurring in the winter months in temperate climates.

If it was covid, I wouldn't have as much energy as I do now, and I probably wouldn't have cold sores either. I mark this down to a change in climate. It's the only thing I can think of that would give me a monster cold. Or maybe that I didn't sleep a lot during my flight home from the US. The next time I am going there, I am taking a direct flight so I don't have to stress with changing flight, and it makes me more relaxed as well.

But for now, it's time to relax and enjoy this extended weekend. It's a public holiday today, and tomorrow, every person at my job, who is paid by the hour, is off. I do not fully understand why, but it suits me well. It gives me more time to recover from my cold.
