Harley and Me...........
I had two different friends that had the same passion for riding and owning Harley Davidson motorcycles..........one I watched as he rebuilt his bike after being cleaned up by a cane harvester and losing his leg in the process but not to be deterred rode that bike again ......the other saved cent by cent over a 14 month period to buy the bike of his dreams.........each time I bumped into him he shared his counting with me ......it saddened me to hear he had also lost his leg in an accident and I am certain had I run into him again I am sure he would have been counting again ............

I just read about the poem of our dear friend Paloma who had provided me with enormous amount of inspiration on the days when I was so low and down. I am better now and I hope we can, also share her fears and frustrations because this is what I love most of this place. The Untouchable Lovable Difference
This poem is one that is extra special to me, for it acknowledges that people at their seemingly worst, are still a valuable, meaningful part of humanity. For instance, anyone in a homeless situation can make a positive difference and some do- many, perhaps! This is what it means to me, in my experience in Eugene, Oregon. I am grateful that some of our unhoused members are as kind and giving as they are, just as any other- if not more, at times. Perhaps, because they are treated with such grace and respect vs. another locality?
