SUNNY DATE
As gardens explode, with colours of spring
Birds in trees, with sweeter voices sing
Lift passion for nature, once winter-dull
Time of re-birth, after a winter's cull
Trees twig bare, though with hints of buds
Adorn spindled branches, as soil-dried-mud
Nurtured bulbs wait chance, bursting to life
Frost won't overpower, like a frozen knife.
Bushes and shrubs, already lead the parade
Of colourful spring, mirror carnival raid
Urban green-grey, becomes a living rainbow
Surreal in its beauty, only nature can sow.
Dead life will soon, be discarded-forgotten
Fresh life takes hold, after winter's treason
The past fades away, as the seasons rotate
Turning a calendar, towards a sunny date.....

About this poem:
In NZ....we still expect late frost and even some snow in the south, but in North Island, we are aware of warmer weather......now officially into spring....
