bayareagirl: It's occurred to me, anymore folks don't take marriage seriously
One of my buds did the bounce back marriage thingy. Things didn't go so well and he was by himself again in less than four months. I wonder why marriage is becoming a dying institution?

Increasing self-centered cultural development maybe especially for the baby boomers who don't have another 30-40 years to replenish what they might lose in another marriage? Pre-nuptial agreements don't have a good track record either.

Personally ? I've know couples that have divorced in less than one year of marriage. I've heard that couples marry and get a divorce in the same hour in Las Vegas, Nevada... (before and after emote illustration). /
Yes indeed divorced is very common in today's world, the compatibility getting low.the independency is higher,no one wants to be tied in eternal thread, people who believes short terms relationships cnnt makes life's sured, try to give time, marriage have 7 important promises, respects marriage it's not one NYT stand,if u cannot then don't prove to world the bad face for marriage...

Marriage is becoming quite a JOKE these days. But there are many reasons for it.
a) Less tolerance level (in general) b) financial, social and intellectual independence of individuals c) expectations: No partner acts like sugar mom/ sugar dad d) compatibility level
The Marriage institution is collapsing because of irresponsible behavior of the people who are in it and perhaps the message that we are passing on to next generation is this that guys marriage vows may collapse at anytime so better be at your own guards and watch your back.
It's impossible to live on normal wages. People can't hack it. People are used to living better in their childhood bedrooms than they could live on their own.

Have a friend whose first marriage only lasted 3 mths, no idea what happened,I didn't know him then. "She just walked out" but didn't say why she walked out.
He is thrilled now, he is re-married and just had their first wedding anniversary!

I knew a couple that divorced within 8 months.
I was married for 30 years before I finally gave up the fight....I certainly gave it my all, but you can't maintain a good marriage if only 1 person is putting into it!
And I agree with you....SO many don't even try or take it seriously.

I was near Madrid as well last week! I like them both, and couldn't choose between the two. I was also near Pampelona last week as well! this is getting creepy! Are you spying on me?
My first marriage only lasted a few months, her mother interfered too much and eventually enticed my wife away. We were both young and weren't allowed to live our own lives. My second lasted 30 years but I doubt the next will last that long

Out of curiosity only, what possible factors can end a long term companionship and love say of 30 years...
