Does it really matter?...

Many are saying, this was indeed a hate crime, while others are saying, this was a crime of anger and about a parking space. Many say, he would rant and rage and bully neighbors in the community, and on his face book page about many things... But does this really matter? Hate is hate and murder is murder, whether its over a parking space, racism, or whatever. Murdering anyone is a crime of hate!

Does killing three innocent young college students who just happen to be Muslims justify their death? No! and no matter what stirred this mad man up, he deserves the max... and that's the death penalty... May God Himself vindicate their senseless deaths.

Craig Hicks Was Threat With 'Equal Opportunity Anger,' Neighbors Say
The Huffington Post| By Andy Campbell

Craig Stephen Hicks, 46,
enters the courtroom for his first appearance Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2015 at the Durham County Detention Center in Durham, N.C. He is accused of shooting his Finley Forest neighbors, Deah Shaddy Barakat, 23, and his wife Yusor Abu-Salha, 21, and Abu-Salhav's sister, Razan Abu-Salha, 19, of Raleigh. The suspected killer of three Muslim family members in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, was a known bully in his community, neighbors say.

Craig Hicks, 46, was always irritated about noise and parking in the condominium complex where he allegedly shot and killed Deah Shaddy Barakat, Barakat's wife, Yusor Abu-Salha, and her sister, Razan Abu-Salha on Tuesday. Neighbors say they felt uncomfortable around him, especially when he regularly approached with a gun holstered to his belt, according to the New York Times.

"I have seen and heard him be very unfriendly to a lot of people in this community," Samantha Maness, another resident of the Finley Forest development, told the Times. She said that Hicks displayed an "equal opportunity anger" and that he made "everyone feel uncomfortable and unsafe."

He was emphatic about enforcing the complex's parking regulations and griped when he thought Maness made too much noise with friends.

Imad Ahmad, Barakat's former roommate, said the victims had faced Hicks' anger before.

"He would come over to the door, knock on the door and then have a gun on his hip saying, 'You guys need to not park here,'" Ahmad told the Associated Press. "He did it again after [Yusor and Deah] got married."

Neighbors' accounts of Hicks' behavior before the shooting come at a time of increased tension over the murder investigation. Chapel Hill police have said that they haven't ruled out the idea that the shooting was "hate-motivated," but so far they've suggested an ongoing parking dispute fueled Hicks' wrath.

Some Muslims in Chapel Hill as well as the victims' family and friends aren't buying the motive. Dr. Mohammad Abu-Salha, the slain sisters' father, called for a federal probe into what he says "has hate crime written all over it."

The FBI is launching a "preliminary inquiry," but haven't yet committed to a full investigation, according to NBC News. The Chapel Hill police are also investigating.

In a press conference on Wednesday, Hicks' wife Karen said that her husband was an angry man, but not prejudiced.

"This incident had nothing to do with religion or victims’ faith, but instead had to do with the longstanding parking disputes that my husband had with the neighbors," she said. "He often champions on his Facebook page for the rights of many individuals. Same sex marriages, abortion, race, he just believes that everyone is equal. Doesn’t matter what you look like or who you are or what you believe."

She has said she's filing for divorce from Hicks.

Hicks is charged with three counts of first-degree murder.

Malaysia's Opposition Leader Gets 5 Years In Jail.

There are many who complain and disagree with many of the laws here in America. And many of these complaints and disagreements are from Americans who are born and raised in this country... and some are from those who do not live, nor have ever lived in America. But there is one thing for sure, Americans should consider their freedoms in all things, as we also must obey the laws of our law.

We, as Americans should be oh, so very thankful that our country is not under such strict laws as other nations around the world thus, many Americans would stop their complaining and learn contentment with our laws and freedom as it stands.

Had this happened under a law in America such as this law in Malaysia, I would suspect our former PRESIDENT would have been, as would so many Americans, been sentenced to life in prison... or even so, maybe beheaded...

Anwar Ibrahim's Sodomy Conviction Upheld; Court Sentences Opposition Leader To 5 Years In Prison
Reuters | By EILEEN NG
Posted: 02/10/2015 2:31 am EST Updated: 2 minutes ago

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 10 (Reuters) -
Malaysia's highest court rejected on Tuesday an appeal by opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim against a sodomy conviction, sending the politician who poses the greatest threat to the long-ruling coalition back to prison for five years.

The U.N. Human Rights office and Australia said they were disappointed by the ruling. Human Rights Watch condemned it as persecution and Amnesty International said it would have a chilling effect on freedom of expression.

Anwar, the ruling party's rising star in the mid-1990s before he fell out with then Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad, denied the charge that led to his second conviction for sodomy as a fabrication aimed at ending his political career.

"I will walk again for the third time into prison but rest assured that I will walk in with my head held high," a defiant Anwar said in a statement he read out in court.

"I maintain my innocence."

Prime Minister Najib Razak's government has rejected any suggestion of interference in the case.

"Malaysia has an independent judiciary, and there have been many rulings against senior government figures," the government said in a statement after the ruling.

The United States said it was "deeply disappointed" with the conviction. "The decision to prosecute Mr. Anwar and the conduct of his trial have raised a number of serious concerns about rule of law and the fairness of the judicial system in Malaysia," National Security Council spokeswoman Bernadette Meehan said.

Anwar criticized the court saying that in rejecting his appeal it was "bowing to the dictates of the political masters."

"You chose to remain on the dark side and drown your morals and your scruples in a sea of falsehood and subterfuge," he told the judges who walked out of the court as he spoke.

"I will not surrender," he said.

Anwar later comforted his wife and children and had a meal with them before being taken to the Sungai Buloh prison, about 30 km (20 miles) from Kuala Lumpur.

A court found the 67-year old former deputy prime minister guilty in March last year of sodomizing a former political aide.

The conviction disqualifies him from political office and contesting the next election that must be held by 2018.

FASTING...

First, let’s start with some definitions for a better understanding of the topic, so no one will get confused.

Key terms and their meanings giving more insight into the what Jesus is speaking about.

Fast: The Greek word here is, nesteuo: It means the same as in English, which is to voluntarily abstain totally, or sparingly from eating all foods or certain foods, or to eat prescribed kinds of foods; and/or from drinking of certain drinks or no drinks for a set period of time as a religion duty for a particular purpose or cause..

Hypocrites: Greek word here is hupokrites: An individual (s) who pretend to be other than who they really are, they are actors, counterfeits, phonies, great pretenders who falsely gives an impression of virtue or sincerity; having a phony front in character and feelings of qualities they do not possess with deceitful assumption of being praiseworthy.

Somber: Greek word is skuthropos: To be sad and discouraged; to have a gloomy or sad countenance (look on face) or a serious appearance; to look deprived of light or to be melancholy depressed face of sorrow.

Many people “fast” for many different reasons, some restrict their diets for medical reasons, or to loses weight and trim down to fit into clothes they haven’t worn in 30 years laugh… But for many Christian believers who fast, it for a spiritual purpose and cause although God does not require of us to fast, but IF, and WHEN we do fast, it is our choice to do or not to do… this pleases Him... and there are times He will/does call us into a fast for His purposes and His glory.

Some believers in Christ, fast to hear from God in a certain matters and for Him to move on their behalf; some fast as a part of their daily, weekly, or monthly worship to the Lord, by giving a few hours in prayer and fasting, or one or two days in prayer and praise before him; others fast to seek more spiritual power and anointing from God; and some Christians fast every three or four months or once a year doing as God has called in Isaiah chapter 58, to pray for the poor, brokenhearted, and downcast, as this is the proper fast that pleases God, and we receive the blessings He has promised.

Isaiah 58:“Is this not the fast that I have chosen: To loose the bonds of wickedness, To undo the heavy burdens,To let the oppressed go free, And that you break every yoke? Is it not to share your bread with the hungry, and that you bring to your house the poor who are cast out; When you see the naked, that you cover him, And not hide yourself from your own flesh? Then your light shall break forth like the morning, Your healing shall spring forth speedily, And your righteousness shall go before you; The glory of the LORD shall be your rear guard.
Then you shall call, and the LORD will answer; You shall cry, and He will say, ‘Here I am.’

Regardless of the reason a Christian believer decides to fast, it is a form of worship before the Lord, because a spiritual fast for whatever reason, MUST include purpose and prayer, which lead us to a life of worship, discipline and good stewardship before the Lord.

Excerpts from my Bible Study teaching...continues below..

Being a Christian...

First of all, what many in the world do not know or understand is, that quoting Scriptures DOES NOT make you a Christian; saying you believe in God, yet denying the power thereof DOES NOT make you a Christian; Being a nice compassionate caring person DOES NOT make you a Christian; Doing good deeds DOES NOT make you a Christian; Being raised in a home where your parents took you or made you attend church every Sunday DOES NOT make you a Christian; attending church on special occasions as an EMC (Easter, Mother’s Day ,Christmas) church member DOES NOT make you a Christian; not given to smoking, cursing, drinking or drugging DOES NOTmake you a Christian.

Being a Christian is a spiritual happening on the inside of a person’s whole being (mind, body, soul, and spirit), and in his/her life and is a life-style change, that bring about a spiritual change, in a committed personal relationship connected to Jesus Christ in His Spirit with our spirit, and in truth; a person who has confessed his/her sins before God and turned away from those sins, has faith to believe that Jesus Christ paid their sin debt in a suffering death on the cross, to reconcile us back to God; therefore, there is NOW no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, who no longer walk (live) according to the flesh, but walk (live) according to the Spirit of God. This person is connected in a relationship with Christ, and is as Jesus says, YOU MUST BE BORN AGAIN! John chapter 3

A Christian is a person who has been REGENERATED by the Spirit of God and has been water baptized and resurrected as a new creature in Christ, which means born again in the Spirit and baptized in the water. The old creature (nature) has passed away, and behold that person is made new, filled (joined) with the holy Spirit of God, and set apart, called and seen as righteous in the eyes of God, because that person has taken on God's righteousness.

The Christian has no questions about following the teaching of Jesus Christ, and believes by faith that Jesus is God incarnated, the Creator of the universe; He/she is a public witness of this Gospel of Jesus Christ to all people freely professing and confessing his /her faith not just in words but life-style and deeds, believing in what Jesus has said, "For what will a man give in exchange for his soul? 38"For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will also be ashamed of him when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels." Mark chapter 8

So, what then is REGENERATION?... glad you asked... Regeneration means to BE BORN AGAIN OR TO BE RESTORED FROM THE OLD SIN NATURE TO THE NEW SPIRITUAL NATURE IN CHRIST Jesus ... born again from above by God, through the washing away of our inner-man by the Holy Spirit, and forgiven by God of ALL sins. A person who has been regenerated the Holy Spirit takes up residence in the body (spirit) that person who has repented of their sins, and asked (invited) Jesus Christ to come into their heart. As Jesus let's the disciples know in John chapters 14 & 15. The Holy Spirit helps the believer to live as God has commanded us to live, He convicts our hearts of our sins when we sin, so that we can immediately repent and remain righteous (in good standing)before God.

Regeneration is the spiritual change in a person riding us of our sin nature and this enables us to respond to God by faith. Our minds are illuminated, our will to do things our way is no longer our mindset, sin is no longer of interest, and we have a new nature in Christ. Regeneration brings about a new disposition and a personal relationship with Jesus Christ is experienced. God opens up His knowledge, understanding and wisdom in Christ to us, and we are secure in life here on earth and eternal life in heaven. THIS IS WHAT BEING A TRUE CHRISTIAN IS ALL ABOUT!!

Comments from Turn the other cheek blog...

SistaCallie comments on the blog Turn the other cheek: There were only three comments that were made on this blog, the second and last comments were deleted by blogger. For those who do not know what I said in those comments, you can read for yourself. I had not planned on doing this, because this is but the blogger continues to make claims toward me on her blog AFTER deleting my comments. Praise God I saved my comments on her blog because I knew sooner or later she would delete them which would able her to make claims of things she perceived to be in my statements. I only have two of my posted comments, but the third comment was to in response to another blog, hopefully I will be able to find it.

First comment on Turn the other cheek by SistaCallie...
LJ, My questions to you are, who is suppose to be turning the other cheek for more slapping? The terrorist who are the enemy, or their innocent victims, who are being killed at the hands of the enemy for their creative work whether of mockery or not?... And what does it mean to turn the other cheek for more slapping when up against the enemies who are determined to war against us? Does this turning the other cheek for more slapping apply in such case? You supposedly are quoting what you THINK Scripture is speaking during a time of war, maybe you can also explain its meaning and application in such case as this.

Yes, if we ALL, which include the terrorists, were like Jesus we would not have wars or rumors of wars and especially terrorists. But we're not ALL like Jesus, nor are some even close to being remotely like Jesus, and there is a real enemy out there who desires to kill us. Therefore, does this Scripture passage you recklessly quote apply in such case as this? Where in Scripture does God command us to turn the other cheek to the enemy for more slapping from those who are at war with us? Sounds like another twisted double-meaning message to me, one point you suggest being like Jesus by turning the other cheek for more slapping from an enemy at war, and on the other hand you suggest in your questions:
LJ: TERRORIST- are here to agonize us, torrorize us with or without reason. We already know that. Why wait for some cause or reason to justify declaring war against them? Why don't we commit ourselves on identifying who they are, where they are and expunge them? AFTER ALL IT'S EITHER THEM OR US, RIGHT?

So what's going to be?... do we turn the other cheek for more slapping from the enemy, or does the enemy turn the other cheek for more slapping from the victims they kill for what they assume to be mock.

Shot Dead!....

This is great news! This is marvelous news! This is powerful news! PRAISE THE LORD! PRAISE THE LORD!. The cowards got what they deserved! They reaped what they had sown. DEATH!

A member of Al Qaeda's branch in Yemen said the group directed the massacre at a Paris magazine, hours after near simultaneous raids by French police on Friday killed the two Islamist brothers behind the attack and another terrorist.

The raids, conducted at locations 25 miles apart, took out Cherif and Said Kouachi and a suspect in a policewoman's killing who had seized hostages at a Paris grocery on the brothers' behalf, but also left four hostages dead, according to authorities and reports from the scene.

The Al Qaeda member on Friday provided a statement in English to The Associated Press saying "the leadership of AQAP directed the operations and they have chosen their target carefully."

There was no independent confirmation of the report, and U.S. intelligence and counterterrorism officials say it is too early to conclude who is responsible for the massacre on Wednesday that left 12 dead.

However, Cherif Kouachi told a French TV station before Friday's raid at an industrial park that he was sent by Al Qaeda in Yemen and had been financed by the cleric Anwar al-Awlaki, who was killed by a U.S. airstrike in Yemen in 2011.

If confirmed, the attack would be the first time Al Qaeda's branch in Yemen has successfully carried out an operation in the West after at least two earlier attempts.

The Al Qaeda member said the attack was in line with warnings from the late Al Qaeda leader Usama bin Laden to the West about "the consequences of the persistence in the blasphemy against Muslim sanctities," adding that it was "revenge for the honor" of Islam's Prophet Muhammad, which the satirical Charlie Hebdo had occasionally lampooned.

The lightning-quick strikes earlier Friday ended two tense, hours-long standoffs, one at a printing plant north of the city and the other at a kosher supermarket on Paris' east side, where four hostages were killed, as many as 15 were freed. A hostage held north of the city by the brothers, who killed 12 in a commando-style attack at the offices of Charlie Hebdo, was reportedly freed. The fast-moving developments, signaled by explosions and gunfire at a printing plant in Dammartin-en-Goele, followed by similar sounds at Hypercacher (Hyper Kosher), a Jewish supermarket in eastern Paris, brought to a climax a three-day terror ordeal and manhunt involving nearly 90,000 police and military personnel.

Shacking-Up!...

The phrase "SHACKING-UP" may not be a phrase some of you know or have heard of... but SHACKING-UP mean to live with a man or woman in a s*xual relationship without marriage.

Back in the day, until I was old enough as a teenager to know its meaning, and even today SHACKING UP means the same that is used when two single people live together as married in a s*xual relationship as a couple, but are unmarried. Yeah, there are many so-called nice terms and phrases the secular world uses to make what they do sound ethical and morally right and acceptable, such as: in the world SHACKING UP is also known as common-law or cohabiting; having an affair outside of marriage, only means adultery; or making love, really means fornication (sex outside of marriage) or practicing s*xual immorality in biblical terms.

Of course, there are those who would care less about what God speaks, and some of us have all been there and done that BEFORE we came to our senses and were redeemed unto salvation as Christian believers. As Christians now, we know that God is the only one who made the union between two people who are to be in love and enjoy the pleasures and comfort of s*xual relations in marriage: It is a known that God commands that to be in a marriage it is between a male and female as a couple, and the two shall be joined together in marriage as one flesh.

God commands that to prevent s*xual immorality, adultery and strong s*xual passions that we're unable to control, the man should have his own wife, and the woman should have her own husband, the couple in a dating relationship should get married to prevent s*xual immorality which is sin. I Corinthians chapter 7.

Many couples young and older, with and without children are making the choice to live together which is SHACKING-UP. And this makes them SHACKERS Many women conclude to many false promises of marriage and myths, thinking its going to improve their relationship, but it really doesn't, it only hinders because SHACKING-UP in not a committed relationship and does more harm than good. Women more than men tend to suffer greatly when they lower themselves to live with a man without marriage, thinking she has got him and he's going to marry her down the road, only thing... down the road never comes nor does the SHACK-UP end in marriage. And there she's off again SHACKING UP WITH ANOTHER MAN who makes the same uncommitted false promise, and it become a pattern of insecure and a desperate habit to SHACK-UP with every man she meets, just to have a man in a relationship.

Here are some interesting stats on cohabitation "SHACKING-UP" gathered from the U.S. Census Bureau and the latest university studies:

*Living together is considered to be more stressful than being married.

*The average age of cohabiting couples is between 25 and 34

*Just over 50% of first cohabiting couples ever get married.

*If cohabitation is limited to a person's future spouse, there is no elevated risk of divorce.

*In the U.S., cohabiting couples taking premarital education courses or counseling are not at a higher risk for divorce.

* More than eight out of ten couples who live together will break up either before the wedding or afterwards in divorce.

*A Penn State study found that even a month’s cohabitation decreases the quality of the couple’s relationship.

* Children of cohabiting parents are three times as likely to be expelled from school or to get pregnant as teenagers than children from an intact home with married parents.

* Children of cohabiting parents are five times more apt to live in poverty, and 22 times more likely to incarcerated.

What say you? Is SHACKING-UP worth the personal risk of low self-esteem in an uncommitted relationship, right back where you started or worse before you decided to SHACK-UP?

2015 New Year's Resolution: LET IT GO!!!

There are a lot of people who will make and break 2015 New Year's resolutions. There are some who will not even make them, and many will do their very best to keep their promises (resolutions) they make to themselves. Here is a 2015 RESOLUTION we ALL should make and Keep for the New Year 2015, if God be willing and so gracious that we should live to see 2015 come and go, in good health and HALF-WAY enclosed in our right minds.

This word of exhortation is from a sermon by Bishop TD Jakes in 2010, and is fit for all times. Those who have ears to hear, let them hear and be a doers of this word, and not just a hearer of this powerful word.

"Let It Go" by Bishop TD Jakes - 2010

There are people who can walk away from you. And hear me when I tell you this! When people can walk away from you: let them walk.

I don't want you to try to talk another person into staying with you, loving you, calling you, caring about you, coming to see you, staying attached to you. I mean hang up the phone. When people can walk away from you let them walk. Your destiny is never tied to anybody that left.

The Bible said that, "they came out from us that it might be made manifest that they were not for us. For had they been of us, no doubt they would have continued with us." [1 John 2:19]

People leave you because they are not joined to you. And if they are not joined to you, you can't make them stay.

Let them go.

And it doesn't mean that they are a bad person it just means that their part in the story is over. And you've got to know when people's part in your story is over so that you don't keep trying to raise the dead.

You've got to know when it's dead.

You've got to know when it's over. Let me tell you something. I've got the gift of good-bye. It's the tenth spiritual gift, I believe in good-bye. It's not that I'm hateful, it's that I'm faithful, and I know whatever God means for me to have He'll give it to me. And if it takes too much sweat I don't need it. Stop begging people to stay.

Let them go!!

If you are holding on to something that doesn't belong to you and was never intended for your life, then you need to . .

LET IT GO!!!

If you are holding on to past hurts and pains...

LET IT GO!!!

If someone can't treat you right, love you back, and see your worth...

LET IT GO!!!

If someone has angered you...

LET IT GO!!!

If you are holding on to some thoughts of evil and revenge...

LET IT GO!!!

If you are involved in a wrong relationship or addiction...

LET IT GO!!!

If you are holding on to a job that no longer meets your needs or talents...

LET IT GO!!!

If you have a bad attitude...

LET IT GO!!!

If you keep judging others to make yourself feel better...

LET IT GO!!!

If you're stuck in the past and God is trying to take you to a new level in Him...

LET IT GO!!!

If you are struggling with the healing of a broken relationship...

LET IT GO!!!

If you keep trying to help someone who won't even try to help themselves...

LET IT GO!!!

If you're feeling depressed and stressed...

LET IT GO!!!

If there is a particular situation that you are so used to handling yourself and God is saying "take your hands off of it," then you need to...

LET IT GO!!!

Let the past be the past. Forget the former things. GOD is doing a new thing for 2010 (2013-2014-2015)!!!

LET IT GO!!!

Get Right or Get Left. think about it, and then...

LET IT GO!!!

Do You Give Good Love?

How many times how you heard, or even told someone “I love you?”, but deep down you really didn't mean it? The word “love” is so often misused, abused, and used as a meaningless manipulative cliche to accomplish many things; the good, the bad, the ugly, and the indifferent. It is used to satisfy the selfish person who is without meaning toward self-gratification, and the selfless person with worth and meaning from the heart in many ways.

Good healthy true LOVE lies within the heart of every person God has created. It is essential to man’s existence and relationship with God, others, and personal-self, because love is a self-sacrifice, no matter who you are or what you may think about God. Human love whether Godward or manward, or even self-ward the source of true love comes from God. Why? … because God is Love, its who He is, its His character, and this is one of His attributes that He gave to mankind upon creating man in His own image, God has given every human being the emotional ability to love.

Good Love is the more excellent way… giving unselfishly: for God so LOVED the world that He GAVE His Only Begotten Son that whosoever (that’s you and me) believes in Jesus Christ should not perish but have everlasting (eternal) life.

Do You Give Good Love?
Agape

This is an unconditional love that sees beyond the outer surface and accepts the recipient for whom he/she is, regardless of their flaws, shortcomings or faults. It’s the type of love that everyone strives to have for their fellow human beings. Although you may not like someone, you decide to love them just as a human being. This kind of love is all about sacrifice as well as giving and expecting nothing in return. The translation of the word agape is love in the verb – form: it is the love demonstrated by your behavior towards another person. It is a committed and chosen love.

Phileo
The phileo love refers to an affectionate, warm and tender platonic love. It makes you desire friendship with someone. It’s the kind of love which livens up the Agape love. Although you may have an agape love for your enemies, you may not have a phileo love for the same people. The translation of the word phileo is love in the noun – form: it is how you feel about someone. It is a committed and chosen love.

Storge
It is a kind of family and friendship love. This is the love that parents naturally feel for their children; the love that member of the family have for each other; or the love that friends feel for each other. In some cases, this friendship love may turn into a romantic relationship, and the couple in such a relationship becomes best friends. Storge love is unconditional, accepts flaws or faults and ultimately drives you to forgive. It’s committed, sacrificial and makes you feel secure, comfortable and safe.

Eros
Eros is a passionate and intense love that arouses romantic feelings; it is the kind that often triggers “high” feelings in a new relationship and makes you say, “I love him/her”. It is simply an emotional and s*xual love. Although this romantic love is important in the beginning of a new relationship, it may not last unless it moves a notch higher because it focuses more on self instead of the other person. If the person “in love” does not feel good about their relationship anymore, they will stop loving their partner. Different types of love is from typesoflove.org

Do You Give Good Love? Good Love is unconditional, it looks beyond faults and sees the need to love. When I meet your needs to receive good love, I meet my own needs to give good love.

Christmas without it somewhere over the front door frame, or around the tree, or someone slipping up behind you with it proves to be a lot of fun, and without it during a Christmas gathering there is no fun in getting an unexpected kiss. Found plenty of mistletoe images, but had problems posting them, so I'll be creative for the fun of it all.

bam! mistletoerosekiss on your forehead Angel-face!kissangel2

History-Mistletoe was held in great reverence by the Druids. They went forth clad in white robes to search for the sacred plant, and when it was discovered, one of the Druids ascended the tree and gathered it with great ceremony, separating it from the Oak with a golden knife. The Mistletoe was always cut at a particular age of the moon, at the beginning of the year, and it was only sought for when the Druids declared they had visions directing them to seek it. When a great length of time elapsed without this happening, or if the Mistletoe chanced to fall to the ground, it was considered as an omen that some misfortune would befall the nation. The Druids held that the Mistletoe protected its possessor from all evil, and that the oaks on which it was seen growing were to be respected because of the wonderful cures which the priests were able to effect with it. They sent round their attendant youth with branches of the Mistletoe to announce the entrance of the new year. It is probable that the custom of including it in the decoration of our homes at Christmas, giving it a special place of honour, is a survival of this old custom.
oooooowait!..here comes a big juicy mistletoerosekiss for you Micleelipsangel2
The curious basket of garland with which 'Jack-in-the-Green' is even now occasionally invested on May-day is said to be a relic of a similar garb assumed by the Druids for the ceremony of the Mistletoe. When they had found it they danced round the oak to the tune of 'Hey derry down, down, down derry!' which literally signified, 'In a circle move we round the oak. ' Some oakwoods in Herefordshire are still called 'the derry'; and the following line from Ovid refers to the Druids' songs beneath the oak:
'---Ad viscum Druidce cantare solebant---.'
Shakespeare calls it 'the baleful Mistletoe,' an allusion to the Scandinavian legend that Balder, the god of Peace, was slain with an arrow made of Mistletoe. He was restored to life at the request of the other gods and goddesses, and Mistletoe was afterwards given into the keeping of the goddess of Love, and it was ordained that everyone who passed under it should receive a kiss, to show that the branch had become an emblem of love, and not of hate. http://www.botanical.com/botanical/mgmh/m/mistle40.html

In the forest, mistletoe is a bit of a scourge, a parasitic plant that latches on to trees and feeds off of them. But at Christmas, it becomes a symbol of romance. So where did the tradition of kissing beneath the mistletoe come from? The plant’s association with romance dates back to ancient Norse mythology. By the 18th century, stealing a kiss beneath the mistletoe became a common practice among British servants and the tradition spread from there. According to the tradition, it’s bad luck to refuse a kiss beneath the mistletoe. After the kiss, the couple is to pluck one of the berries from the plant. Once all the berries are gone, the bough no longer has the power to command kisses. So if you hang a bough of mistletoe this year, make sure it has plenty of berries on it. http://www.foxnews.com/leisure/2014/12/23/why-kiss-under-mistletoe-stories-behind-christmas-traditions/

Glory Be To God In The Highest!!!

Luke 2:8-20. And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.
13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.
And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, 'Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us.'
16 And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger. And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child. And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds.
19 But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart. And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them.

How are you hearing the good news of Jesus’ birth that the angel of the Lord announced to the shepherds?

In the Gospel writings of Luke chapter 2, He describes the strange events that happened after the birth of Christ—the angelic announcement of the birth. He informs his readers about shepherds living in the same country (or region), who were keeping their flock at night. The actual month and year of Christ’s birth are impossible to prove. Throughout the centuries, different Christian sects have given hundreds of suggestions for the date of His birth, to no avail. However, we do not need to speculate. One thing is certain: He was born of a virgin in Bethlehem of Judea according to Scriptures. That is sufficient.

The shepherds were the first to hear the Good News of the birth of the Savior; they were also the first to proclaim it to others. Their message was simple; they declared what the angels told them concerning the child, and what they had seen. Their message left the listeners with wonder and marvel. However, Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart. All these things includes the story the shepherds told—the appearance of the angel and the heavenly host. This story adds to the chain of miraculous events regarding the Christ, which began with the initial visit of Gabriel announcing to Mary that she would be the mother of the Messiah. Hence, Mary preserved the words of the shepherds in her heart with all the strange things that had been taking place, and she meditated upon them as future events unfolded.

After visiting the newborn, and finding the child as the angels had told them, the Shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God. The object of their joyful praise is obvious-the long-expected Messiah is born and they have been witnesses. The birth of a Redeemer brings joy and peace to those who accept Him. Here the shepherds accepted the good tidings. Therefore, they praised and worshiped the Lord, and proclaimed to others the wonders of God’s dealing with mankind. Like the shepherds, we are called to declare the birth of the Savior and His purpose to the world.

Christ was born to bring peace and redemption. This event occurred over two thousand years ago, but it is still as relevant today as it was then.

Jesus Christ came that we might have peace, He suffered that we might be healed, and He died that we might live. That is the message of Christmas.

LET EVERYTHING THAT HAS BREATH PRAISE THE LORD FOR HE ALONE IS WORTHY!
