Congrats Mr. Obama! But don’t forget your promise

Your campaign was unprecedented and you deserve to celebrate. But you know your job had just begun. When you take over in January please don’t forget what you promised.

There’s nothing worse than broken promises and no one is more notorious for them than politicians. It’s what angers voters the most, yet it’s what brings us back in hopes that a new candidate will hold his or her promises.

Let us and Mr. Obama not lose focus on what he has pledged to do. Here are many significant promises he has proclaimed to America.
His promises to families and citizens:

- Cut taxes for working families earning less than $200,000.

- Freeze foreclosures for 90 days to help homeowners.

- Tax credit for buying fuel efficient cars.

- Provide tax credit to cover public college and university tuition in exchange for community service or service to the country.

- Lower healthcare costs by $2,500 a year for the average family.
His promises regarding businesses and the economy:

- Tax credit for businesses hiring new employees in US.

- Eliminate tax breaks for companies moving jobs overseas.

- Provide low cost loans to small businesses.

- Create 5 million jobs in the clean energy field.

- Assist auto makers in producing fuel efficient vehicles.
His promises regarding energy and the environment:

- Invest $15 billion a year in energy efficiencies and renewables.

- Tap natural gas reserves.

- Invest in clean coal technology.

- Expand domestic oil production.
His promises regarding education:

- Reform the “no child left behind” policy

- Invest in early childhood education.

- Hire more quality teachers.

- Provide them with higher salaries.
His promises regarding the war:

- End the war in Iraq.

- Refocus on Al Qaeda and Taliban.
His promises regarding health care:

- Improve information technology.

- Provide coverage of preventive services.

*- Lower healthcare costs by $2,500 a year for the average family. (Stated above)
His promises for seniors:

- Prevent the privatization of Social Security.

- Provide cheaper prescription drugs.

- Strengthen Medicare.

Regardless of what Mr. Obama promises for the future of America, you must do your part. Don’t wait and don’t expect to be provided handouts.

Are you facing foreclosure? Then you need to work harder and do whatever it is that it takes to get back on your feet.

Are you unemployed? Then you need to work harder to get ahead of your competition who are seeking the same jobs. Stand out, be unique.

Work hard, stand out, be creative, and create opportunities for yourself. It’s been the same recipe that has brought America from humble beginnings to the most powerful nation. And the same recipe applies today and will for the future. It’s the American way.

It is now officially confirmed, your possibilities are ENDLESS.

ELEVEN PEOPLE ON A ROPE

Eleven people were hanging on a rope, under a helicopter. Ten men and one woman.

The rope was not strong enough to carry them all, so they decided that one had to leave, because otherwise they were all going to fall.

They weren't able to choose that person, until the woman gave a very touching speech.

She said that she would voluntarily let go of the rope, because, as a woman, she was used to giving up everything for her husband and kids or for men in general, and was used to always making sacrifices with little in return.

As soon as she finished her speech, all the men started clapping!

When I was listening to the radio...

When I was listening to the radio just now, I came across a song which I had not listened for a long time. Sometimes, there are times when we listen to a song we hadn't listened for some time, we suddenly feel all nostalgic and touchy. That what actually hit me just now. The song called "Hero" by Mariah Carey. When I listened to the lyrics, it somehow inspired me or should I say, remind me that how unique each of us are and deep within each of us, there is a hero. The hero that I believe most of us had yet to realize or discover yet. This song is actually about the hero inside of us. Look deep into your heart and you will find the answer. May you always feel loved!

May you find serenity and tranquility in a world you may not always understand. May the pain you have known and the conflict you have experienced give you the strength to walk through life facing each new situation with courage and optimism. Always know that there are those whose love and understanding will always be there, even when you feel most alone. May you discover enough goodness in others to believe in a world of peace. May a kind word, a reassuring touch, and a warm smile be yours every day of your life, and may you give these gifts as well as receive them. Remember the sunshine when the storm seems unending.

Teach love to those who hate, and let that love embrace you as you go out into the world. May the teachings of those you admire become part of you, so that you may call upon them. Remember, those whose lives you have touched and whose have touched yours are always a part of you, even if the encounters were less than you would have wished. It is the content of the encounter that is more important than the form.

Inner Beauty: What The Soul Sees

Seeing a beautiful object or person makes the senses fulfilled. That is beauty on the outside. Indeed it is a pleasant experience when the senses are stimulated. But is this pleasure for long and is it of the essence? But what if the beautiful person one sees is heartless and insensitive? What if they lack character or dignity? Would that outer beauty suffice? Looking at a beautiful person merely gives pleasure. But what of beauty which is magnetic and uplifts the soul? When one sees the inner beauty of a person, then that may happen. Beauty is one of humanity’s most utmost quests.

Many people are under the notion that it has to do with appearances. One sees a shapely woman with flawless skin and impeccable features. And they think that’s what it’s all about. But beauty which is more substantial is often that which is intangible. That of the character, the heart and the soul. But people sometimes get impatient. They get attracted to something they immediately see. They hold on to something they can grasp and touch- the material. But what is material is temporal and passing. And that which is invisible to the eyes is more lasting. The folly of youth is oftentimes credulous.

They see a beautiful person and they render affection for them. Their notion of love is submitted to something which is skin deep. So they enter into marriage with the object of their adulation. Through time, they may disregard its appearance. Then come the crux of the matter- inner beauty. Is outer beauty completed by inner beauty? There ought to be a balance between the two. A pleasing appearance is to be complemented by substance. Attractiveness on the outside is oftentimes merely for passing pleasure.

But what of living with a heartless and insensitive one? One can imagine the grueling dilemma of such a circumstance. It will strip happiness and fulfillment from life. And sometimes it’s so easy for people to judge. They think beautiful people are instantly happy, and they feel sorry for those who are not. Then again, one should take a closer look. Life and happiness is so much more than being beautiful. It has to do with fulfillment of one’s inner needs and longings. It can be the warmth of a home, a loving partner or being abounding in compassion. This again, has nothing to do with a pleasing appearance.

These have to do with something within. So one should not be quick in judging. In giving more due to what can immediately be seen by the eyes. The physical is merely superficial. One should take time to see what is within - to look beyond what the eyes can see. It is where the essence of beauty lies.
What is within can make the soul happy. What is without is merely for the eyes. What the eyes see are merely on the surface, but what the soul sees is more noble.

A WRONG PHONE CALL ... 123456789...

I can’t take credit for this since I didn’t write it. I’m not really even sure where it came from but i think it’s funny.

It was another boring Wednesday night, and I was sitting in my room watching television (in the hopes that I would be entertained) when the phone rang.

“Hello?”

A girl’s voice came over the line.

“Can I speak to Ben, please?”

I live by myself, and my name definitely is not Ben. It was probably a wrong number. Of course, it was also a dull evening, even for Indiana.

“I’m sorry, he’s not in right now. Can I take a message?”

“Do you know what time he’ll be back?” she responded.

“I think he said he’d be home around 10:00.”

Silence on the other end…a confused silence. I had a live one.

“Is this Steve?”

My name isn’t Steve, either. This was definitely a wrong number.

“Yes, it is. Do you want to leave a message for Ben?”

“Well…he said he would be home tonight and asked me to call him…” she said in a slightly irritated voice.

I must have sounded a lot more like Steve than I had thought.

I replied, “Well, he went out with Karen about an hour ago, and said that he would be back at 10:00.”

A shocked voice now: “Who’s Karen?!”

“The girl he went out with.” (I’ve seen Fletch several times).

“I know that! I mean….who is she?” (She must have seen Fletch, too….Or is that Fletch Too? Whatever..)

“I don’t know her last name. Look, do you want me to leave a message for Ben?”

“Yes…please do. Tell him to call me when he gets home.”

She was sounding pretty irate at this point, and I could hear her temper flaring. Now would be a good time to call an end to the charade.

“I sure will. Is this Jennifer?”

She exploded this time. “WHO’S JENNIFER?!”

Apparently she wasn’t.

“Well…he’s going out with Jennifer at 10:00. I thought you were her. Sorry…it was an honest mistake.”

“Ben’s the one that’s made the mistake! Tell him that ALICE called him and that she’s VERY UPSET and that I would LIKE HIM to CALL ME as SOON AS HE GETS HOME.”

I smiled and said, “Okay, I will…but Becky isn’t going to like this…”

“BECKY?!?!?”

“*click*” !!!

" THE PERFECT HUSBAND "

This is serious!

Several men are in the locker room of a golf club.
A cell phone on a bench rings and a man engages the hands free speaker-function and begins to talk.
Everyone else in the room stops to listen.

MAN: “Hello.”

WOMAN: “Honey, it’s me. Are you at the club?”

MAN: “Yes.”

WOMAN: “I am at the mall now and found this beautiful leather coat. It’s only $1,000. Is it OK if I buy it?”

MAN: “Sure, go ahead if you like it that much.”

WOMAN: “I also stopped by the Mercedes dealership and saw the new 2005 models. I saw one I really liked.”

MAN: “How much?”

WOMAN: “$90,000.”

MAN: “OK, but for that price, I want it with all the options.”

WOMAN: “Great! Oh, and one more thing …..the house I wanted last year is back on the market. They’re asking $950,000.”

MAN: “Well, then go ahead and give them an offer of $900,000. They will probably take it. If not, we can go the extra 50 thousand. It is really a pretty good price.”

WOMAN: “OK. I’ll see you later! I love you so much!!”

MAN: “Bye! I love you, too.”

The man hangs up. The other men in the locker room are staring at him in astonishment, mouths agape…..

Then he smiles and asks: “Anyone know who this phone belongs to?”

Exercise your mind, body, and soul ...

People who stay fully alive take care of themselves. If you don't take care of yourself, you can become sedate and lose your "edge." Remember that we are whole beings. Taking care of one part of our lives can positively impact other parts of our lives. Let me warn you, what I am about to suggest will sound very simple. In fact you may look at this and immediately move on to another blog or website. Yet so many people ignore and neglect self-care.

You might consider the following:

* Exercise your mind. Do something that stimulates your thinking. Read. Read something (even the newspaper--paper or Internet) that relates to current events. Watch a television program that causes you to think. Read a good book. Far too many of us become mentally lazy.
* Exercise your body. Walk. Run. Work out. Start by walking. Some of us would do well to turn the computer off, put the book down, and get some exercise. You might be very surprised at the difference this makes.
* Exercise your soul. Look for an imbalance. Maybe you serve people and are involved in several good works. However, your prayer life and Bible reading are lacking. Start by setting aside a short time each day that is dedicated for Bible reading and prayer. (Many have found prayer books to be helpful as well.) You might consider writing in a journal. Some find that to be a valuable tool.

To exercise your soul, you may need to get more intentional about putting your faith into action. Start simple. Consider doing something good for someone who is really struggling right now. Consider doing something good for someone who is sick, without a job, or in some way is going through a difficult time. Maybe there is a service organization in the community for which you could volunteer. The point is: Find a way to exercise your faith.

Keep Believing in Yourself

There may be days when you get up in the morning and things aren't the way you had hoped they would be, ....that's when you have to tell yourself that things will get better.

There are times when people disappoint you and let you down, but those are the times when you must remind yourself to trust your own judgments and opinions, to keep your life focused on believing in yourself and all that you are capable of.

There will be challenges to face and changes to make in your life, and it is up to you to accept them.

Constantly keep yourself headed in the right direction for you. It may not be easy at times, but in those times of struggle you will find a stronger sense of who you are, So when the days come that are filled with frustration
and unexpected responsibilities, remember to believe in yourself and all you want your life to be, because the challenges and changes will only help you to find the goals that you know are meant to come true for you.

Keep believing in yourself.

McCain Has 13 Cars, Obama 1

ABC News' Tahman Bradley Reports: After the brouhaha over Sen. John McCain's struggle to recall how many houses he owns, Newsweek wondered how many cars might be parked at the presidential candidate's multiple homes.

The weekly newsmagazine checked vehicle registration records for both McCain and Sen. Barack Obama and found that when you include the candidates' spouses, McCain owns 13 cars, Obama 1.

McCain has a 2004 Cadillac CTS, a 2007 half-ton Ford pickup truck, a 1960 Willys Jeep, a 2008 Jeep Wranger among other American cars. He's got a few foreign vehicles in his fleet as well, owning a 2005 Volkswagen convertible and a 2001 Honda sedan.

The only vehicle registered in Obama's name is a 2008 Ford Escape hybrid.

McCain's wife, Cindy, an heiress to a beer distribution company, has her name on 11 vehicles but actually only drives one car - a Lexus with the personal plates MS BUD.
