Why I've been gone

Around 3 weeks ago I drove myself to the Oklahoma VA Medical Center with a problem with my right foot. After entering the emergency room, I soon found out that my foot and part of my lower leg would be amputated. My foot was amputated that day and my lower leg 2 days later. It was severed 3 inches below the knee. I am now going through therapy and it looks like a long process to get to where I can wear a prosthetic leg.

My spirits are good. I did not have time to feel bad for myself as the medical process started right away. Tank God for the wonderful nurses at the Oklahoma VA and they are indeed the guts and glue of our hospitals.

Glad to see you back, Willie! head banger
thats very bad luck
I hope so. Have to relearn a lot of things like how to get off a toilet and things like that.
Sorry to hear.

Hope you are making the adjustments needed. wave
Thank you. No I had no Idea what was to come. Had no time to ponder. Just had to let the Docs do their best.
Hi have aquick recovery.hope you get all better.
Missed you... glad you are back. Don't rush it, take it slow.. wine
Sorry to hear that comfort but we were beginning to fear the worst and whilst that's not a great outcome at least you're still with us thumbs up
Sad to hear you lost a body part, be it a finger or toe or anything in between its hugely serious. Good luck and health with the recoverybeer cheers
I hope everyone’s rallying around you there. We are in hospital now because my mum has lost the use of her a**. The stoma bag. Will it be permanent or won’t it be permanent?

I’m anxious right now so I can’t imagine what you must feel like and although I can’t really do anything to help from 5000 miles away, if there’s anything I can do to help please don’t hesitate to ask.
Good attitude. cheers
You'll save a fortune on socks.
Lots of luck with the convalescing.
Wow maybe if the hospital had caught what ever was going on, you wouldn't have lost the leg, however you are alive and on a new adventure. I hope you have family and friends to help you off to a good start.
I am assuming it is diabetes related. The blood vessels break down. The immune system is suppressed. The nerves are impaired so one feels nothing even when parts are dying. Plus if you are old your eyes won't focus properly so cutting an ingrown toenail out is really hard without decent vision, if you can even feel it is ingrown and infected.
Sorry to hear this.
blues
We all take our health for granted

and the OP has had it rough and not
posted for several hours
l hope sleep is being had.
Chat, they have a similar one here at the nursing home and it is still a challenge at this early time. The throne indeed seems to be the biggest challenge yet.
hpy, yes... that's the guy. I would say, very motivated.
When I had the double knee surgery way back I remember the throne being one of my greatest challenges too. I hope your therapy goes very well. What an adventure for you with that positive attitude, happy to know it is so positive.
