Hey, I look even more dumb......

...each time I announce that I've discovered some new modus operandi of scammers here. But notice how each time an apparent fake person appears in the inbox, VERY fake, and you dump, report, or otherwise dispatch them, lots follow. No such action, and it stops. All with the same profile, fake hottie pic, and crap English, saying they are American or British. Same height, age, jobs, and earnings. I picture a bank of hombres, in some hot/smoky shack, somewhere in Nigeria or the former USSR, all furiously hitting the keyboards, looking for that one in a million chump. And the tales of woe soon follow, which only respond to a wire of cash. God watches us all. As does the Karma deity.

Well, yes, girls. But it is true that over time it seems easier to vet the fakers. I can usually dispatch them on first seeing them, and if not, after only a few notes back and forth. But the downside may be throwing the baby out with the bathwater (M). There are some nice people here. One of my best filters is seeing if someone is willing to chat first for a while here on CS, before any more private email. But it's been a long time since I've been asked for money to help rescue some lady (?) from an almost credible tale of woe. And I have met a few nice women, even had some meetings. But I might be a bit picky for an old slob. VERY picky. VERY old slob.

Well Vierkat my friend...it is very rare that I get fooled these days...I can usually spot the fakers a mile off. Their photos, location, circumstances alway seem so unlikely. It’s amazing how they always choose New York, London, Paris...etc as their location. Amazing how they are all have postgraduate degrees, no kids, don’t smoke, don’t drink, and are drop-dead gorgeous...haha.

MODS, WHY AREN’T YOU DETECTING THIS?"

The mods DO act on this, when you take the trouble to report.

"surely it would be easy to set up an automatic block for having website links on your profile page."

Seems so to me, but then I don't look at dozens or hundreds of profiles every day, so I don't know what-all the mods are up against.
