Straphanger...
I'm not sure the story used the correct word as a straphanger is a person who holds on to a strap on a crowded bus where all the seats are occupied.However, I read a story today about a 28 year old man in an attempt to avoid paying the $2.75 subway fare, jumped the turnstile. In doing so, his foot caught and he tumbled head first on to the cement floor.
This happened in Queens, New York. He was declared dead at the scene.
What a terrible fate to pay for avoiding a subway toll.
