"Musk has alleged that the true number of spam accounts is likely much more, potentially as high as 90%. Musk has previously said the acquisition "cannot move forward" until the company provides "proof" of its spam metric"

Raphael ~ I would have thought that Facebook has more fake accounts. It is not quite as simple to set up an account in Twitter and I found it annoying in that they blast you with imput that you don't really want.
I have an account but it is not a site I would have a great deal of confidence in as Facebook and of course Tik Toc for younger people and Instagram have largerly taken over.
Elon Musk owes Twitter nothing, I could be wrong but it was a verbal gentlemans agreement. It is a large amount of money to lay out on a social media platform. JMO
It is definitely a lot of money. If bots are anywhere near 90 %. I think it makes any site almost worthless.
What is it that people gain by having hundreds of bots . I can see why twitter would want the numbers of accounts for their advertisers but not the members .
5% - 10%
Elon Musk has been given the chance to examine all 500 million daily tweets to identify and count the malicious bots.
That should keep him quiet for a while.

Of course he will probably use a bot to identify and count the malicious bots.
This would be a fairly simple computer program designed and written for this specific purpose.
He needs to separate individual malicious tweets from malicious 'bot' tweets which complicates things a bit.
This is necessary because he only complained about bots.
He can't object to business bots because that is a specific facility provided by twitter for the benefit of users.
The key is to be able to identify and connect the developers code number to the tweets in order to prove that bots are spamming multiple malicious tweets. If the code number is not recoverable then I don't know how he can prove anything.

Regardless of the outcome he is still contractually bound to complete the purchase, under penalty for non-completion, because he only raised the bot question after agreeing to buy.

Although now that Twitter have agreed to give him access to the tweets I think they must allow him access to account information too.

This is just my interpretation so correct me if I'm wrong.
Apparently Musk declined to do this due diligence before committing to the deal. Now he says that it's not what he thought. Sounds like he bought it on a whim.
Merlot ~ Surely somebody like Elon Musk would have done his homework, or should i say had people go in to all the data regarding Twitter.
I would not think Twtter will be that important in a year or two. I see the newer sites coming down the line as being user friendy and I think he has had second thought. It is a lot of money, even for Elon.

Surprising amout of people I would not have thought at their age are going in to Tic Tok.

Take care
