I was wrong, Trump does care about the environment

It was reported last week that Trump's ex-Executive Assistant Molly Michael told investigators that Trump regularly reused paper in a bid to save trees.

He wrote to-do lists for her on the back of White House notecards used to brief him while in office, rather than recklessly binning them in landfill waste collection. They were only spoiled on one side with sensitive information and classification markings.

Molly Michaels went on to recycle the card through an FBI reclamation scheme.

Never let hate toward any individual that I personally have never met or talked to, consume me.
Good, welll done.

I'm glad you're going to stop your nonsense.

Maybe now we can have a civil conversation from time to time. handshake

How many years of stalking Trump did it take to establish this depth of vitriol?

"How many years of stalking Trump did it take to establish this depth of vitriol?"

Did anybody imagine it would be quick and easy to take down the most powerful person in the world?
He never was. He sat in the chair, But all who saw him there knew he had to go. And he did. Should he be convicted on the Federal charges his Presidential pension will of course cease. In thirty years when he gets out of jail (if)m he will probably re-trace the foot steps of former President Polk and beg for dimes on a street corner in NY's Bowery district. It is probable many of the Crack whores that can be found on Ave A, B, 3, etc. will not take kindly to being grabbed the way he used to do and one of them may shank him for it. Almost none will notice or care. Just another dead bum in the Bowery..

.
It's not vitriolic to protect democracy and the most vunerable in our societies.

Quite the opposite.
In thirty years when he gets out of jail (if)m he will probably re-trace the foot steps of former President Polk and beg for dimes on a street corner in NY's Bowery district.

I'm thinking only 10 years. Melania will be long gone. Probably Jared and Ivanka will toss him a million.
Who knows Steve Bannon could scheme up another money-making opportunity for him and life could be good again!
Why would you wish that on anyone?

Personally, I think the knack for maintaining democracy is in breaking the cycle of abuse, not perpetuating it.

Has hate-stirring against refugees reached a peak in Welsh town?

Readers respond to Aditya Chakrabortty’s account of his trip to Llanelli, where protesters are furiously objecting to Home Office plans to house asylum seekers in the Stradey Park
Aditya Chakrabortty’s account of his trip to Llanelli made for grim reading about the way in which ministers’ sloganising has shaped the debate, the lived experience of those seeking asylum and the communities called on to host them (This horror story visited on South Wales by Suella Braverman could be coming to a street near you, 24 August).

It was especially depressing that a local anti-racist activist suggested that opposition to the far right was proving difficult because “all our usual sources of moral authority have gone”. He was referring to the churches and the Labour party.

It’s now almost 60 years since Harold Wilson told party members that “Labour is nothing if not a moral crusade” – six months later he went on to win a hard-fought general election. Perhaps Keir Starmer should take his cue from history – otherwise things could get very nasty indeed.
Les Bright

The backlash against refugees described by Aditya Chakrabortty appears to be widespread. In our neighbouring village of Kegworth, the arrival of a large number of mainly Afghan refugees has been met with local hostility, leading to protests, the spread of misinformation and the closure of the village Facebook page due to the vitriol posted.

The feelings of those who are sympathetic to their plight are usually given little space next to the protests and other actions by extreme rightwing groups who use the issue to gain support.

It almost seems that the government has a vested interest in inflating the cost of housing asylum seekers. The higher the cost, the angrier the Daily Mail headlines and the more likely people will be roused to vote Conservative out of resentment.

That’s the only reason I can think of for workmen to “pull out the ... innards” of the Stradey Park hotel. Partial demolition costs money. If the Home Office wants to put in more people than the hotel would have taken, then add some bunk beds. There is no justification in ruining the building so it will never again be “the jewel in Llanelli’s crown”. As with Robert Jenrick ordering murals for children to be painted over, it seems it is better to spend public funds on destruction than to appear humane.

From the new investment fund owners of Stradey Park to the demolition contractors, profit is made from misery, with no expense spared. No wonder the council leader says he’s embarrassed and ashamed.

The idea that disagreement in Llanelli with the government’s policy for housing immigrants at Stradey Park hotel is rooted in some fascist surge locally, as part of a dark national trend, is a crude and unhelpful appraisal of the feelings and concerns involved. In the media, evil is always on the rise.

The banners saying “We weren’t asked” mean exactly that. Just like the population weren’t asked if they wanted Rishi Sunak, underpaid jobs and back-breaking inflation. That this is working-class activism and not a group of woke, middle-class students, does not mean it must be far-right or misguided. It may comfort journalists in London to imagine a bogey man luring the British public towards the far right, but the truth is much simpler. We weren’t asked and you never listen.

Hello, Mr. chatty. Do you really want a joe biden, or any democrat, to lead in the defense of this country when china attacks us here in the states with their boots on our ground? They have troops presently in Canada and they almost have built enough ships to transport 600,000 million of their troops here to take over. On too of that joe biden gave away our stockpile of munitions to ukraine and he has reduced our oil reserves to such an unrealistic level that it can't realistically be called a reserve anymore. Joe biden and the rest of his rat pack will never defend us now, especially when you consider we no longer have continental borders thanks to him.
Could you stay on topic please, Gal.

There is a Biden blog kicking around for you to air your grievances.

I created this blog for the purposes of taking the piss out of Trump's recklessness and taking the piss out of myself because the first thing that popped into my head when I saw this story was my own propensity for reusing before recycling.

Not that Trump's vacuous recklessness is a that funny.

Having said that, perhaps the most salient point is Molly Michael's testimony about Trump's behaviour regarding the classified documents case. It's pretty damning.

I'm wondering, having seen this story, how much more there is to come when the case gets to trial. I suspect we may be surprised at the wealth of evidence against Trump with respect to all his criminal indictments.

I didn't create this blog so people could bicker about Biden. I wait with just as much anticipation to see what evidence turns up against him, but that's for another day and another blog.

I did not create this blog so people could demean themselves with babyish personal attacks, or showing their arse like that makes them the biggest boy in the yard. A little more dignity and respect, aye.
Well Jac...

I think when we only watch mainstream media our views can be obscured...

I remember learning about WWII in school..and always wondering why the US did not come to the defense of the Jews earlier...

After attending a field trip with my son in middle school...It was an independent movie about the Holocaust. It was then, I learned that the US government knew...but, the news media did not tell it to the public...

European countries were sheltering Jews..but, we were not allowed to...

Interestingly enough the president FDR was a Jew...

The news has always had an agenda...it is good to question some things...
Pick up a copy of Human Smoke.
You understand that Eugenics was the popular science of the time?
And that everyone feared the Bolsheviks?
aND THAT THE rUSSIANS ACTAULLY DID MORE THAN THE us AND OTHER ALLIES TO WIN ww2.

Caps lock stuck, new keyboard and I am too lazy to rewrite it.
The Holocaust actually involved many groups the Gypsies, The Russians, The disabled and Gay and Catholics.
The Jews just get better press.

My comment wasn't political motivated.
Are you advising me to question things, Gone? laugh
It just never made sense to me...How we patted ourselves on the back for being such a caring country...and, let so many needlessly die...

When I discovered that the government knew...but did not allow the people to know...it kinda made a light bulb go off...They tell us what they want us to know...

The news is now..mostly opinion...both sides...

I try to be fair....but, right now the government does not care about we the people...

They care about power and winning...nothing else.
A caring country...? confused

In what way?
You will never understand....Governments lie to the people always have...

You are very left leaning...I am center...more left on social issues...

Trump appeals to the middle class...because the Dems have used them for years...with promises they never kept...

The Green Agenda hurts the poor and middle-class more...also, autoworkers...will lose many jobs...

That is why people voted for him..and, will vote for him again...

No such thing as a balanced budget...

They see the American Dream going down..and, it will be the rich and the have nothing, if it does not stop...

You see, people don’t care if he did crimes...They want a chance to stop the insanity going on with big government..

I predict if Biden runs on Dem side...

Trump will win..even if he serves from a prison cell.
Everything, but answering the question. laugh
Actually it is you Jac...

You will never understand...

The USA is is kinda like the movie I’ve had enough and I’m not taking anymore...

We never used to talk about politics...

Now EVERYONE does....

And no one likes the Democratic Party agenda now..

You are intelligent..but, you lack common sense..

So you can't answer the question, then.
No one here leans "left".
Left is meaningless like the modern liberal.
Give me an Abbie Hoffman or Huey Newton any day.
The reality is all governments are simply tools used by various groups that sometimes are at odds with each other and other times cooperate.
The gen pop are just statistics used to validate certain view points.
The individual is the only person representing their own best interests.

“Submission is identified not with cowardliness, but with virtue, rebellion not with heroism, but with evil.

To the Roman slave owners, Spartacus was not the hero and obedient slaves were not cowards. Spartacus was not a hero, and obedient slaves were virtuous. The obedient slaves believed this also. The obedient always think about themselves as virtuous, rather than cowardly.

If authority implies submission, liberation implies equality. Authority exists when one man obeys another, and liberty exists when one man do not obey other men.

Thus, to say that authority exists is to say that class and cast exist, that submission and inequality exist. To say that the liberty exists is to say that classlessness exists, to say that brotherhood and equality exist.

Authority, by dividing men into classes, creates dichotomy, disruption, hostility, fear, disunion. Liberty, by placing men to equal footing, creates association, amalgamation, union, security.”

You did not say that in your comment.
Gal? hmmm you did not tell mr chatty that he should stay on topic when he mentioned another president , former president polk.

Go ahead and delete my posts though whenever if you like.
Was it necessary to do so?

Vitriol? You consider that vitriol? Oh come off it - super-diluted vitriol you could drink through a straw like a fizzy drink, probably not even pH sensor detectable.
Jac my point was ...

You will never change anyone’s mind...

Just as you see body shaming...they see you shaming them for voting for Trump...

My point about WWII..is I always thought we knew what was going on all across Europe..but the press was suppressing the news here...We did not know the atrocities that were taking place...They never told us that when I was in school..I thought how the heck could we turn or backs and not get involved...

And, what we did to Japanese US citizens, after the bombing of Pearl Harbor..also so wrong...

The press and our government had an agenda...to withhold this from it’s citizens...

Anyways...my opinion is Trump is still a criminal...and he is a con...

But, the working class and middle class will vote for him...because Biden and the Democratic Party...has given them no other choice...They feel like they have been pushed to the wall...and, when you push so many so far...they will vote for the opposite...

If Biden steps down, and they pick a more viable candidate...and more moderate..

Trump will probably lose...

I think I hijacked your thread...Sorry..
I'm not trying to change anyone's mind.

I'm trying to change my own.

I think there's a difference between thinking you have the right to discuss other people's bodies without their consent and thinking you have the right to discuss politics, or legal matters that are inherently and necessarily in the public domain.

Yes, you mentioned being shocked because you perceive the US as a caring country, but you appear to be avoiding my question about that.

From a European perspective, the US is one of the worst countries globally with respect to human rights violations. I'm not getting information from any magical sources - the death penalty, excessive incarceration particuary of people of colour, no NHS, excessive medication costs, the drone assassination programme, Guantanamo et al, police shootings particularly of people of colour, mass shootings, gerrymandering particuarly affecting people of colour, disenfranchisement of poor people particularly affecting people of colour through unreasonable government ID restrictions and felony disenfranchisement, unequal rights for the LGBTQ+ community - to name just a few 'caring country' issues that are reported in the mainstream media for all to see.

It leaves me wondering if this culture of not believing anything in the mainstream media is a greater means of hiding information in plain sight than any media faults could ever achieve. It leaves me wondering if information is being withheld, or simply ignored.

I don't think he's actually been found guilty on any criminal charges as yet, has he? I thought he has just lost every suit he's brought and been found liable in civil suits brought against him.

Except for the choice between constitutional democracy and no constitutional democracy, of course.

Assuming Trump is going to be eligible to run, or that Biden is actually immoderate rather than comparitively less extreme right wing.

No problem, you're still on topic with respect to Trump's alleged criminality and your perceptions of the culture surrounding that.

I've said this a number of times: the legal proceedings against Trump et al appear well structured and appear to have a lot of depth; the legal proceedings carried out by Trump et al appear to be chaotic, unskilled and frivolous. Unless Repubicans get their act together and stop their social manipuation circus act, there will be no viable Republican party for a while. That is as worrisome as Trump's statements of intent and actual (alleged) attempts to get rid of your constitution and democratic processes altogether.
All I can say..it is your perception of Americans...

I generally go to Orlando, 2 or 3 times a year...the theme park things..with family...

I’m not a thrill rider..never was...

I am the backpack holder..and wait for them to do the rides...

While waiting, many people from the UK start conversations with me.

They always say how kind and helpful everyone is here...that we are portrayed much differently in the news there...
