Should people who believe in reincarnation be excluded from jury service in capital cases?

So, you're suggesting that discrimination, based on religious beliefs, should be considered as a reason to prevent certain individuals from performing civic duties/priviledges? Which groups, in particular, are you trying to exclude, and why?
No, I'm not.

Please refer to my op for clarity.
If anybody "excludes" them, then it is religious discrimination, in my opinion. Your original post is quite clear about that.
I haven't said anything about religious identity, or religious group belonging.

I asked a question and did not offer a personal opinion, or any implication of an opinion.

Please refer to the question in my op for clarity.

If you can't answer the question, it's okay.
No, I don't think so. I wouldn't think that would be a problem in capital cases...
No they are just crazy to believe such false.
nonsense.
drinking Oh, I get it. You're posting for somebody else? It wasn't your fingers that did the typing, nor was it your idea that was typed...by whomever's fingers?

I don't know of any person or persons that believe in reincarnation, that don't have some type of religious affiliation. Maybe there are? But I've never personally met one.
Basically all boils down to the average man being less ambitious and therefore more honourable than your honour.
A system of checks and balances. A jury is the one part of the justice system that is no more psychopathic than the general public, everyone else in it is far more psychopathic.
@OP of course such a belief is no more significant than believing in a heaven or life after death. Should a lawyer happen to ask a jury panelist such a question I am sure there would be a severe reprimand coming.
Inclusion or exclusion in or from jury, is immaterial.
What if people believing in reincarnation are excluded.
Capital punishment itself is a crime.
It does not tell us at what level: when they select it is ransom number of persons contacted as many decline.it is an inconvenience and loss of wages in the U.S .

Then each attorney can indicate their reasons, after a pre-screened interview, why their can not be selected.

Is this question saying somehow the omit from random selection based on a qualifier these persons or saying the attorney would do this (based on the individual case by case non-bias required) for example an alleged crime suspect stated it was their karma to be killed, or some excuse stating reincarnation- that person tortured them in their previous live so it was retribution

An insanity plea would probably be advised regardless, to win their case to it would not matter.Their job is to win sympathy from the jury not alienate them or make a hung jury- which is has been used to win in a capital punishment cases.
These typos make it almost necessary to copy and paste to edit out the errors and repost it.
My apologies Jac, I hope you understood why I need more clarification about what stage in the selection process or which justice dept. could be allowed this information and context.
@pat it wasn't typos, but lucidity at fault. Take another look and see if you can detect either relevance or rationality.
"a limited number of peremptory challenges (i.e., do not need to state a reason)."
"Peremptory challenges had a long history in both England and America before the Revolution, and the purpose of peremptory challenges was to allow elimination of a particular juror without reason"
A capital case is one where the defendant is charged with first-degree murder and the state has decided to seek the death penalty as punishment if the defendant is convicted. A capital case involves several phases: Trial, Aggravation Phase, Penalty Phase.
Only if prohibited in a particular jurisdiction. Unethical, maybe, but not criminal, if legal, there.
I do not believe in the death penalty...it seems to me that jurors can be wrong and you cannot undo death...the good news is that many ( death row inmates) remain on the row for years...providing time for science to evolve that could exonerate the innocent...or the opposite...

I doubt that believing in reincarnation would set you apart from other believers in faith...but lawyers do make decisions based on what is good for their client...
So in other words, you're looking for a straight forward yes or no?
I think pigs will fly first... rolling on the floor laughing

Considering the question and how one's way of thinking might be confused
The death penalty would not be seen as punishment but an escape from it instead.

My own view on the matter would be YES, such jurors should be allowed and I'm sure those on death row would be thankful for the yes vote as well.

But what a ridiculous question.
Agree. But I think it's mean as such.
Only I am not in the mood, and I suspect noone esle here is neither-
