Kecik's dream.

Kecik finally fell asleep. Entering her third month of pregnancy she often experienced insomnia. Maybe she was afraid of losing another baby, thought Opung. Six months ago they lost their first baby. Opung kept caressing Kecik, as since suffering insomnia Kecik always asked Opung to rub her back when she sleeps. It is his caress that let her know Opung was still by her side. Opung kept caressing her, until he himself fell asleep.

In his sleep Kecik dreamt Opung was gone, and it woke her up. Kecik turned around and was relieved to find Opung was still there. She hugged him, tightly, as if she did not want him to go, until she fell sleep again. But once again she woke up, shocked to see it was already past midnight. ?
She woke him up in a hurry. Yes, Opung must go home. This afternoon his wife called and told him their smallest child had a fever. If this happens she usually sleeps only if Opung lets her sleep on his chest. And it was almost 1 am, surely she had not slept. Kecik looked at Opung’s phone, 7 missed calls. It must’ve been his wife. Kecil tried to wake Opung up wholeheartedly, as wholeheartedly as she tried to sleep again after Opung went. Kecik had a dream in her sleep. In that dream Opung stayed until morning and never leave, ever.

Note: a note I wrote back in 2009. A year later I made a script for a 12 minutes short movie from this. It's finally being produced, independently. We are in pre production stage now. It's about time. At some point, all these stories in my head should be manifested, one way or another, otherwise it will blow my head.
