Do you still use a credit card more often and why?

Most of us don't need useless fancy stuffs like the concierge and vip lounges. All ever required was a clever way to carry cash. With the ever increasing acceptance of debit cards, we can now do everything with them, from paying utility bills to buying mangoes. I still use my credit card occasionally to keep it alive and maintain my credibility report in good health. A couple of years ago a credit card was the only option to book a room in an overseas hotel. With the advent of third party services like makemytrip - I can straight away reserve a king occupancy in brooklyn's motel six using my debit card. Mail online of uk says that credit cards will be extinct in four years. I am quite curious to know why you still want to use it regularly ( ie in place of the debit card ) and not sparingly.

"...credit cards will be extinct..."

With all the things that can now be done on a smartphone,
a credit card extinction won't be surprising.

nfc is good. what if you forget to charge your phone?!

all cellphones should have a solar panel.
I don`t have a credit card cause its still not an obligation and I can still buy/sell for cash and checks .
Im guessing that soon some major changes regarding money transaction are going to happen and that the old "money changers" are about to lose their powers
hi dedovix.

the rules of the game has started to change, perhaps for good. credit cards will always remain ( they might not be tangible in the coming days ) indispensable. no credit card means no credit history and the obvious loan refusals.
zmountainman! hola!!

this is truly amazing to know. for good or worse, our banks ( not all though ) has started to follow this approach ie no credit card = no loan. it is quite clear that the industry will accept it as a norm soon.
I stopped using my credit card years ago, because the interest rate was 19%blues
Now I only buy what I can afford, unless I can borrow the money from a family membergrin
I dont have one, dont need one.
I dont even have a bank account
Never had a credit care.If I can't pay for something with cash then I must've not of needed it that bad.
non, you can make a deposit anytimeblushing
i dont have one, never have, but its so handy for buying stuffblues
I have credit cards but haven't used them in a long time. I much prefer the debit card. I have some cash, but I rarely carry cash. What I have is just for the days the power is out and even then often if I just drive a few miles, the power is on there so the cash isn't needed. When I am out and buying something at a place without a card reader (and such places are very rare as even road side vendors often have a mobile reader connecting via a cell phone) well, that is what the ATM machine is for.
... mine is in debit. It makes sense for me to keep it that way... and there are no fees because I have always paid it off.

...Oh and yes, I have a debit card too.
