The very 1st song i ever heard was "LOve Letters In the Sand"..by Pat Boone.....I was in the back seat of my parents car and we were on one of those Sunday drives everybody used to take back then.....
Summer Love. My mother used to sing it while ironing. I was perhaps 7 yrs old then. Of course taking aside the birthday and Christmas songs. Hello Nam!bouquet
Hello Tatami.....it brings us back to exactly the time....
The first song which I remember is a popular Russian song of 60-s sung by Kristalinskaya (a Soviet singer)played during dances where my parents went. The melody overflowed our settlement of Russian specialists who helped to build Aswan water-power plant. I was 6. Since that time when I hear this melody I feel the heat of Sahara and see my young parents dancing ( my mother has already gone and my father soon will be 91...but in my memory they are still young)...
Tatami...when i was in 2nd grade..id come home from school and as you said...my Mother would be ironing too...and she would play "I Cant Stop LOVING YOU"Over and over on a 45 rpm record...that i can still see now....
Musky...Music is the great memory preserver for sure....yes..we can actually feel the past when listening to the music that brings it all back....
When I was around 10..i would go to my Grandmothers house for the weekend....and the song i remember by was...."Just around the corner...Theres a rainbow in the sky...So lets have another cup of coffee...Lets have another piece of pie"....(I can still hear her singin that song)........
I am not exactly sure how old I was but the VERY song I can remember is my dad singing to me...

daydream `You are my sunshine` grin

I remember being sat on his knee.. (so was obviously, reasonable young) about 4 years old.
He did sing many songs.. all the time but that is one of them that stands out to me along with `Old Man River` and `Rag time cowboy Joe` (which I have never heard anybody but my dad sing dunno) wondering if he made that one up confused... but don`t think so

Hello Mr Nam,
I hope you're fine, I've been reminiscing about my time here on CS this morning, and I must admit I miss it. We had great times in the past.

I grew up with my dad playing guitar and serenading to my mom. I loved it so much, and the one song that stayed with me all these years is "Have I told you lately that I love you" today I still think its a beautiful song.
Can't remember how old was I but one of the very first songs I remember.... 'Nobody's Child' by Karen Young.
I love your photo Mimi!teddybear

I grew up without my parents too. Only met my father for the first time when I was 15. Went to stay with him for a week but ended up hating him more. sigh

Thank god my maternal grandparents were great! I know I've said it numerous times but I'm gonna say it again..... I wanna be their grand daughter again in my next life........teddybear bouquet
