Memory stuff

Somewhere I have a box (maybe a suitcase) containing all the stuff I would hate to lose. Old family documents. Special outfits, like the family christening robe that all the babies for over 100 years have worn. That sort of stuff.

I wish I could find it.moping

How important are memories and traditions and the odds and ends that anchor us to our roots?

Sit down, take a good breath in and out then ask your "helpers" to help you find the suitcase or box. Don't expect a answer at once, but be aware of dreams during the night and little things that comes to you mind. Wish you good luck.yay teddybear hug
I kept my military uniforms for over 35 years

one day I decided to put them away for good

my nightmares are gone now.stuck
It is like the Joplin song, Freedom is just another word for nothing left to lose.

We have been through both a major house fire and a freezing flood event that each was a total loss of the residence structure in question. The result is the total loss of accumulated bric-brac of 240+ years of family history. Everything from handed down Family Bibles and Journals to silverware made by an ancestor to photos and old wedding dresses. I think everything I have left of family stuff would fit in a shoe box and maybe even a smaller box.
I am not very sentimental so don't keep stuff that has no use. Have some photos of the kids when they were little but that is about it.
I envy those families that are still living in the same home that their ancestors had lived in a thousand years ago…memories and things come and go but roots remain deep for those that can manage to hold their ground.wine
Thanks, Welela, I'll try that laugh
And yup, you're all right enough about not hanging on to stuff. I'm more annoyed than anything else. Far from still living in the same home, I have uprooted and moved on more times than seems reasonable, in retrospect, even changed countries twice, and did feel a bit smug about keeping track in the process. Not so smug now ...
